We booked this hotel as it was highly recommended on multiple websites and covered in multiple magazines. The location is very good. The decor is nice and well maintained and as advertised. The location makes it easy to access other restaurants, the medina and the beach. The wi fi was one of the best in any hotel in Morocco. It was a lovely hotel but the price point does not match the service - the hotel is significantly overpriced for what it is. There is no air conditioning, this was actually fine but something customers should be aware of. The pool is located another 20 mins drive away, this is not explicitly stated and if you don't have your own car then you are stuffed (the shuttle runs only during certain times). The breakfast was acceptable and the lady who served breakfast each morning was extremely friendly and lovely. However, the crockery is a little old and chipped and I had to ask to wash the mugs again. The service at reception was ok, having spent time in Morocco, we became accustomed to super friendly receptionists and staff - this was not the case at Villa Maroc. At one point we were left waiting at the main door for over 20 mins, as the receptionist was on the rooftop. Overall, I feel a basic double room should not be advertised for £120/night (which I believe is the lower rate). We have spent time in much nicer hotels, for less than half the price, with air con, with a rooftop pool, with a better selection of breakfast. Management need to up their game and match the competition. It is no good constantly reminding us that they were the first riad hotel in Morocco, the service and standard of service needs to keep up with the times and the competition.

We loved the location of Villa Maroc close to the medina, port and beach. The hotel itself is a maze of four townhomes, which have steep steps. If you have any mobility issues, book a lower floor. The rooms are pared to essentials and not luxurious. They do have carefully selected art objects. There are two family charming suites and a country annex with a pool. The only problem was a lack of hot water. We were happy that we ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast is on a terrace with a spectacular view.

We booked a stay at Villa Maroc and were very excited. However, when Morocco closed down to travelers, we obviously could not get into the country from the US. I requested a refund, and management told me my refund would be processed on May 25. it was not. They then asked for an e-mail from Expedia, which Experdia sent. No refund. Then Expedia tried again, another e-mail was requested and was provided. They then said the government had told hotels not to refund any more than 50% of the reservation paid. OK. Still no refund has been received, despite multiple promises to do so, and despite having met every changing requirement. It is clear they are not concerned about integrity. If they did not intend to refund my money, they should have at least been honest and said they could not pay the refund.

Very nice hotel, owner managed. Very stylish and lovingly cared for. Very nice rooms with a beautiful roof terrace and a view of the bay The cuisine is excellent, the staff is very courteous but not pushy. The owners took great care of the guests even during the Corona crisis!

Spent 2 nights here when visiting Essaouira. Great location - everything close by. Gorgeous riad with lovely decor, cute little rooms with fires. Breakfast on the roof was lovely, as was dinner by the fire. A couple more sunloungers on the roof would have made it perfection!
