I have booked at West Sand for 3 nights from 7 - 10 November. The AC in the room did not work and I had to fetch one of the staff at their home, because they didn’t have a car to come out. He also could not get the AC to work. Afterwards when I wanted to shower and brush my teeth, I found that there was no water available. When I spoke to other guests, they confirmed that they also did not have water. I checked out and found alternative accommodation. This was absolutely my worst experience in Mauritius ever. Will never go there again.

Where to start. I had 2 studios and 2 apartments booked for about 6 months for my family of 8 people. in this time I had contact with Vinesh where he often asked me to change configurations of sleeping as long as we had 6 beds I wasn’t fussy, this was until I was asked if a mattress on the floor was acceptable because they had overbooked, I said this was unacceptable and Vinesh gave me his word we would have 6 bedrooms. I arrived in Mauritius before my family and a day before we checked in a received a message from Sha saying we would be having a mattress on the floor, I instantly called Sha to talk about this mistake and how I was promised no more changes would happen - they had obviously just kept the overbooking the same. Instead of being apologetic and having a professional approach to this, Sha was incredibly rude, trying somehow to blame it on me and incredibly dismissive. She even said at one time “you’re wasting my time I have other customers to deal with”. My Mauritian husband then got on the phone to further try and sort it out where she turned even more evil and spoke to my husband even more rudely and continuously hung up on him (swear words included) It wasn’t till we went down to the property where Marcelo articulated that Sha was just misunderstanding the booking and we indeed had what was originally booked. If you don’t like/don’t know how to talk to customers there is plenty of other jobs Sha could do. Sha has responded to my review on booking.com deflecting responsibility, gaslighting readers and insinuating that I am a liar. I have many witnesses to all events and am not afraid to expose written communication confirming my story. Do not stay here!!

The welcome was nice, but the place was gross. I arrived at night with my children so exhausted I didn’t pay attention! I scratched myself all night wondering if the sheets were changed! The television was not working! It was just lighting up! Even the local newspaper could not be looked at to wonder what it was for! No internet connection outside the living room! The pool is the equivalent of a giant pediluve! So shallow is it, small for the place and dirty. The bathrooms were filthy with traces of dirt and limestone. Wall of bedroom and stairs with traces of .... I only stayed there one night out of 12! No refund possible of course 🙄! If I could add videos, no one would ever set foot in them again!

If you have rent a car, it is the best value for money as flic en flac beach is at 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes by car. Moreover Flic en Flac is well situated, not far from the Morne or Port Louis. Thank you for everything and if we come back to Mauritius we would definitely come back.
