About
The new Sunrise Attitude faces one of the most beautiful beaches in Mauritius at Belle Mare, located along the preserved east coast. It’s known for its miles of white sand and stunning turquoise lagoon.
This new 4* hotel is reserved exclusively for adults and is a serene hideaway, taking design inspiration from the beautiful surroundings: the terracotta and mustard gold earth tones, the leaf green and glimpses of blue. Arrive and gaze over the ocean, which is just across the road, taking a deep breath of fresh, sea air.
In addition to these seaside holiday pleasures, the plus are the beach service and his typically Mauritian cart in attendance on the beach, the Otentik Experiences offered as well as the serenity of the spa POZ. Last but not least, the new restaurant Kot Nou and its typically Mauritian cuisine!

Food and beverages
We were on an all-inclusive package and there was always plenty of food and drinks for us to enjoy from a hearty breakfast to a lovely tasty dinner. The chef even accommodated our request for a chicken curry and rotis, which turned out to be finger licking good. We are really grateful for the special attention. The mojito at the hotel bar was one of the best I’ve tasted. The restaurant staff also deserves all the praise in the world for their kindness and attentiveness. Special shoutout to Sarita, Sabrina, Varsha, Jimmy, Vicky and Subash for always being ready to attend to our requests with a smile. Not to forget Sanjay from the egg station who shared some useful cooking tips with me. Panakkam juice, cookies and pancakes (with pineapple jam) from the Taba-J were great as well
Room and cleanliness
We requested for rooms on the ground floor for ease of access prior to arrival and they gave us really good rooms close to the restaurant. The rooms were very clean, smelled lovely and had a fantastic view over the garden. Aartee cleaned our room and we had a nice chat with her on her way out. The room is equipped with tea, coffee, soft drinks and water.
Surroundings and environment
The hotel has two pools which were very clean .There is a nice beach opposite the hotel where we had a great swim, enjoyed the nice shaded sunbeds and free drinks service on the beach. There is nice local music playing in the common area and a nice ambience till late in the night as people sit by the bar to enjoy drinks and a nice chat.
Spa
We went for a relaxing massage with essential oils at the hotel spa which we really enjoyed. Thank you Asha and Sharona for the exceptional service.
Swatee, Reena and Yashveer from the reception were really nice and helpful. Special thanks to Ouma who helped us fix an issue with our safe and who came to pick us from the room with an umbrella on a rainy evening.
We also ended up forgetting a piece of jewellery in the hotel safe but Yashveer was really helpful in that case and made the necessary arrangements to look for it and keep it safe until we picked it up. Thanks a mil.
We shall be back soon.
Food...... breakfast always plentiful with a good choice of freshly cooked eggs to order, lunch a bit hit and miss some days depending on your personal taste, Dinner, we always found something to eat but sometimes the food could be a little bland, unfortunately the menu has been designed to suit European tastes so there is little in the way of Mauritian spice. A mention to our waiters/ess who looked after us superbly at every meal time, Sarita, Varsha, Sabrina and Vicky to name a few.
Sun beds, be prepared to get up early if you want a bed on the beach, the management did their best to prevent sun bed wars but there was still a bit of completion to get one.
We had very mixed weather with sun shine tropical rain showers and the real risk of a cyclone on our last day, the reception team did their best to keep us up to date with the changing weather status and a flight change due to the cyclone warning. Reene’ in particular was very helpful. The majority of the guests here are French and Russian, with a few Swedish and British. This hotel is rated 3* so you might need to adjust your expectations before you book this hotel but what it lacks in some areas it’s made up for by the friendliness and standard of service from the staff.
Make sure you pack plenty of sun cream and Mosquito repellant!
Food. It was delicious absolutely every day. No day was the same food. Even if you don't have an all-inclusive package, you can get lunch for a reasonable price. I really liked the tea room, where you could taste different teas. It was also very nice that you could go to the cute shop to fill your own minibar. The only suggestion is to bring more local handicrafts into the store for more choice. Very much wanted to buy more local crafts.
Rooms. Wonderful. The villa was very private. The pool has a pool water of 1.2 m deep and is exactly ideal. The regular rooms were also very beautiful and clean.
The ocean. The ocean is across the road from the hotel, but that's a positive thing because you can see the local life. There were also enough beach chairs and security watched you so that when everyone was in the water, things were safe.
If you want to go sightseeing, you can book a taxi transfer through the hotel at a great price. If you want a rental car, it is also very convenient. The hotel offers a Sixt rental car service.
Personal. The whole staff was super friendly and helpful. If you wanted to communicate with people, they communicated with you. If you wanted privacy, your privacy was respected.
Activities. The hotel offers a wide range of activities on a daily basis. I especially liked the glass-bottomed boat, which was free and took 30 minutes to see the coral. The hotel also had a variety of sporting activities and something for everyone.
It was also especially wonderful that the late check out was free and you could still make the most of the last day.
Recommend!
Thank you for a wonderful holiday!
The food was great for vegans (and non-vegans). We had vegan pancakes made for us each morning and the staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we were catered for in each restaurant. Mohammed and Sarita in the market restaurant were extremely helpful!
The beach across the road is nice, don’t forget your sun screen. The only downside is that it isn’t direct on the beach so you have to cross over a road to get to this from the hotel.
Because we went in February, it is cyclone season, and we landed just before a cyclone went over the north of the island. This caused very very high wind and rain but we were still allowed out our room which wasn’t the case for people staying in the north. The rest of the time the weather was glorious.
We also rented a car for 2 days to explore the island and would recommend doing this as it is very easy to get around.
Overall the hotel is very modern, staff are extremely pleasant and not having children around was a real luxury. Would highly recommend staying here.
We opted for the couples swim up pool for our stay and we definitely enjoyed using it, even in the evening! The room was impeccably cleaned every time we needed it, bed was comfortable and the pillows were good (although my husbands prefers them tougher) I really liked them. It has soap/shampoo but we brought our own shampoo, and the room has hair dryer, safe and water in the fridge (gets restocked by the cleaners everytime but you can get it from the mini bar shop).
The resort has several restaurants that you can choose from, 2 of them you’ll need to reserve for the evening (vegan or Mauritius food) but we used most of the buffets. We did enjoy many of the foods, there’s a mix with common and traditional Mauritius food so you get choices. However, we did speak with other people on our tours and the massive selection of buffets they had and we felt that there could have been more selections. Either way, we still ate and enjoyed the food! One other thing that was missing from the dessert was ice cream! My husband really wanted ice cream and unfortunately none was hardly available.
There’s al la carte menu available but you have you pay extra for that which is a bit gutting especially when you’ve paid a lot to have an all inclusive package.
The beach is right in front of the hotel but you’d need to pass a road to get through. There’s a security guard to help you through if needed but it’s easy to get through.
There’s a lot of activities at the hotel and we tried to join each one that we could.
We did do the spa, which was absolutely amazing and very needed! An extra cost but that’s okay and that gets added on your final bill when you check out! We also used the gym (you will need to book it with the spa) and even though it’s small you still can get a great workout!
Every staff member were and are amazing, we do have a few shout outs to Vicky, Emanuel and Avi - all were superb!
Vicky is attentive, funny and kind, always made conversation with us and made sure whatever we needed he’d make it happen. Please continue being the superstar you are, the team/resort is very lucky to have you!!
Avi, the amazing bar man who always made sure we had our drinks and my cappuccino when needed! And thank you to Emanuel who extended out check out (usual check out is 2pm) especially when we have a 9pm flight, it was nice to soak in a bit more sun before we head back to very cold London..
So thank you team, we had a beautiful time in Mauritius; the people are lovely and friendly, we are sad to leave the sunny weather but happy we had a fulfilled holidays with lots of activities and experiences.
Surekha and Ziad who we mainly saw at the Taba-J street food cart by the pool. Varsha who was one of the lovely waitresses as well as Pravin who was very helpful and friendly at all times on reception.
The only fault I would say the hotel had was a waitress called Sabrina, she never smiled, wasn’t very friendly and actually made me and my partner feel like we were naughty children and a nuisance for sitting down to have our meals.
Rooms are kept very clean and maintenance men are always around for any problems.
The hotel offers a free cooking lesson with the hotel chef and a free glass bottom boat trip as well.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
All in all would return in a heart beat .
Thank you for giving us this experience will miss you all and Vicky so sorry I didn't get to say goodbye
We traveled with BA direct from Gatwick, transfers were booked serperatley and were waiting for us at arrivals. Transfer took around an hour.
check in at the hotel was easy, staff were polite and effiecient and we got our room promptly. rooms are nice, a little basic but we dont spend that much time in the rooms, a TV with some English channels, double bed, safe, walk in shower and WC. the room was clean well every day.
food was good, all self service in the buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner, the did have a street food cart which served great noodles and the lady serving was nice and talkative.
drinks and bar staff were ok too.
we spent most of the time on the beach, weather wasnt that great but we made the best of it, there were 3 nice dogs that greeted you every morning, we took some sausages from breakfast and they were very grateful, they didnt hassle you they just sat with you on the beach and were good company, they also didnt like the locals as they seemed to kick out at them.
we took a trip with one of the taxis located at the hotel, for around £60 for the day they took us to all the sites, a great full day out seeing the Island and for a good price.
we also booked a 4x4 trip which was good.
overall we were very happy here, as i said the weather wasnt great and there was not a lot to do when it was like this and would happily return, we did look at coming back but weather forecast was stormy so we opted for Dubai instead.
maybe one day we will revisit?
From our airport transfer to arrival at the hotel, the staff were amazingly friendly. We were greeted with a warm towel and refreshing drink.
Then we were given our room key and taken on a tour of the resort.
Our room was on the 1st floor with a limited Sea View however my wife and I feel it was enough. The sea was slightly hidden behind a line of trees but you could still see it well. The room was clean and a nice combination of modern yet still culturally infused designs. The hotel boasts a no TV site however you can find a couple in the restaurants if you like. We had a balcony that faced the sea and caught the most sun in the morning.
All the staff were friendly and made sure to ask how our day was whenever they saw us. The weather in Mauritius is incredible and the food at the restaurants was exquisite. We had the choice of 3 restaurants and 1 Street food vendor. Two of the restaurants require booking while one, The Market, is buffet style.
The Social House and Kot Nou, both require reservations and each one has 3/4 courses of amazing dishes. We recommend leaving space as you'll leave very satisfied.
The hotel also has its own private section of beach with sun beds. The water is clear and the sand is soft and white. The only visitors you may get as it cools through the day are some stray dogs looking to cool down, however they are harmless and usually leave if ignored.
We recommend not prebooking any excursions and activities until you arrive, as you are giving a good selection of what can be done through the week here and booking them is straight forward.
Overall, this resort is incredible and worth the trip out. I have to make a special mention of some of the staff, Immanuel, Vicky, Lloyd and Isaiah. Although the rest of the staff were amazing, these men in their own way truly made our stay unique and I just want to highlight this and hope they get the recognition they deserve.
