My wife and I had an incredible experience at Lux Belle Mare. We stayed 5 nights and everything exceeded our expectations. I wouldn't even try to go to another hotel in Mauritius, this one is just too good. I'd like to mention three aspects that would have helped us make a quicker decision about this hotel had we known about them beforehand. Meals: We took the "breakfast only" option and had dinner at the hotel every night. Dinner was around 70-100 USD for the two of us (I find it a bit expensive because we don't eat much, but it wouldn't have justified paying for the half board), except when we asked for pizza to go, which was around 25 USD (a decent size for two moderate eaters). We skipped lunch with a snack, ice cream (about 5 to 10 USD) or a sandwich (about 20 USD) from the beach truck. We rented a tiny car (free parking) from Pingouin Cars (150 USD for the whole stay) at the airport just in case we felt like going out, but in the end we only tried once and came back quickly as we felt we were missing out on valuable time in the hotel. All the food we had was great and we tried every restaurant. A little tip, the coffee at the entrance hall bar is included in breakfast, and is better than the one served at the buffet. The beach: The beach is the best. We stayed there every day for as long as possible. There were plenty of sun loungers and we noticed that most people remained by the pool (which we barely even touched), so the beach wasn't too busy. There's a section of the beach reserved for adults, which was very quiet. Water, cups, and ice are provided. Water sports: There's a lot of options. They have kayaks, pedal boats, stand up paddle, hobie cats, laser-like sailboats, windsurfs (4.2 sails), and skiing. We used the kayaks and the laser-like sailboats. This is not a criticism towards the hotel because it is out of their control, but we didn't get to do much sailing as it is only allowed at high tide because of the coral and rocks. We were very unlucky and only had two days with sailing allowed for this reason, and just from 9am to 10.30am. On the second day the wind was too strong and they wouldn't let you sail unless you were a windsurfing expert. Also, as the coral reef is near, you can only sail or row within a very small area. It's fine for something short, or to learn as the water is very calm, but I wouldn't recommend it if you intend to sail a lot. The kayaking is not restricted to high tides. It is also worth noting that they allow you to stay at the hotel after check out and you can go to the restaurants (paying directly) if you need to.

Coming back to Lux*Belle Mare was a dream we had since we last visited 10 years ago. This time we had our kids with us and chose the ocean view villa for a comfortable stay. Of course we read about the amenities that come with the villa, but our expectations were far exceeded. The amazing crew around Rao, Girish, Sanju, Deoraj and the best housekeeper Benji made our stay in the villa unforgettable. The amazing staff in the restaurants, like Ashveena and Joyce made every meal an event to look forward to. The food selection, quality, and taste are superb, no matter which restaurant you choose. We especially enjoyed the buffet in Mondo, where all of us found more incredible food than we were able to eat. Every afternoon a visit to ICI for the perfect ice cream was a must have, straight after enjoying the delicious pancakes, of course. Chef Pascal and his team made every desert selection a challenge, since there were so many goodies to taste. The whole resort with its location on the east coast, the stunning white beach, the kids club program, the cleanliness everywhere, the spa Lux*Me, and all the amenities combined with the dedication, hospitality, and friendliness of the staff ensures you have the perfect vacation. We can’t wait to come back!

Our first return to Lux in 5 years, due to covid and then the subsequent closure of Lux following the fire. We were able to visit within weeks of the re-opening for our 10th visit! We arrived at the hotel around 07.00. after an overnight flight. Unfortunately had to wait until almost 14.00. for our room. We were invited to have breakfast, but by the time the room was available, we'd been up well over 24 hours. (On previous visits, we have been able to access the room much more quickly.) Quite a different feel to the hotel after the refurbishment, which involved the main common areas and some rooms. We had a standard room, which was as comfortable as ever. Kept spotlessly clean at all times. The food has always been good, but seems to have increased to next level quality! Meals remain buffet style, with different themes. We also ate in Beach Rouge, Duck Laundry, (very attentive service) and Amari. The food in Amari is excellent, but a prawn curry we chose was over £40 and contained just five prawns, which despite being tasty, was very poor value. Always managed to get a sunbed on the beach. We were looked after very well, as always, by our friends Ravin in the restaurants, Vijaye in the bar, and of course Sheila, part of the management team. Many thanks to all team Lux. We hope to return again before too long.

From the moment we arrived until the afternoon we departed six days later the staff there took care of us in every way. It’s not just that the property is in a beautiful location with an expensive beach front and a gorgeous facility. It’s more that no matter where you are or what you are doing there are people there who care about you. While front desk, restaurant and bar, and other customer facing staff were wonderful, what impressed me most was how absolutely, genuinely friendly and interested the housekeeping or garden staff were every day no matter where we ran across them. That is the sign of a deeply embedded customer-focused organization. So many beach properties can claim wonderful locations but few can match the spirit of service found at LUX Belle Mare.

Family-friendly and sporty hotel with attentive staff and great food. We stayed 8 nights beginning of April 2024. This was our third visit to Mauritius. Stayed previously at Le Tousserock (read they needed to renovate) and at a small boutique hotel perfect for when kids were small. Chose this Lux hotel out of their three Mauritian hotels as it was newly renovated. Our teenage sons spent every afternoon at the boat house waterskiing, sailing, trying to wakeboard, and enjoying the inflatable sofa pulled by a speed boat. Very helpful and welcoming instructors and staff at the boat house! The water is deep there so lots of swimming too. There are some sun loungers nearby so you can keep an eye and enjoy drinks and food service. We did not use the large pool as it was often full of small children and not really for proper swimming. Enough sun loungers on the beach so you can always find a space. Shallow water unless by the boat house. The sea is warm so not much of a cooling off. It was very hot around 30 degrees and not much of a breeze which we found uncomfortable. Air conditioning was a bit hit-and-miss in our interconnecting rooms. We booked two interconnecting family suites. The resort has a lot of fans but we only cooled down properly in our rooms. The hotel was fully booked but we didn’t notice. It is a quiet and restful resort. The restaurants serve great food and we were all-inclusive as our sons have a huge appetite. A lot of the mini bar is included and we only paid extra for the Chinese restaurant (excellent food and wine) which came out at £60 per person for dinner. We have lately gone to a Club Med in their exclusive section and are happy that we instead went to Lux Hotel this year. Much better food, less pressure to join in activities and no noisy teenagers partying by the pool. Our sons' only complaint was the lack of more activities like archery that Club Med offered but then they were not keen to hang with others and it was too hot for us to even contemplate the tennis available. There are activities on offer for teenagers as well as a kids club. The hotel gym is big enough not to ever feel full and we used it every day. Didn’t use the spa but saw a large menu. There are excursions and we did go snorkeling one afternoon which was super fun. We took the overnight flights from London Gatwick with BA. Recommend paying for the emergency seats in economy in advance. Highly recommend going!

We stayed at the Lux belle mare for 5 nights and Lux le Morne for 5 nights. Considering these hotels are the same brand they were oceans apart in many ways. The staff at the Lux belle Mare were so much more friendly than the Lux le Morne. One member of staff in particular was Jennifer who organises the weddings etc, an absolutely lovely person. The food was also better with more choices than Lux le Morne. The only plus for the Lux le Morne is the overall area around the hotel but I would choose the Lux belle Mare anytime.

We had gone to LUX Bella Mare to celebrate our 11 yr wedding anniversary with our 2 kids (6 year old and 1 year old). We stayed at the ocean view Villa. The room was very spacious with our private plunge pool. The villa service was excellent, thanks to Villa Manager, Suren. We were provided our own personal butler Kherti who was amazing! The kids adored him. The team took keen interest to understand and meet all our requirements and to make us feel special. They provided us with all the baby amenities and ensured that the baby food and my 6yr old meals were prepared as per our instructions. All of the 3 restaurants were very good, but our personal favourite was the Indian restaurant Amari. The beach was stunning and a stone throw away from our Villa which made it very convenient with the little one. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at LUX and will definitely be booking it for next year!
