A Sunlife property, Long Beach Mauritius is located on the east coast, along one of the island's longest and widest natural beaches. Opened in 2011, it is an elegant and affable holiday resort featuring a unique blend of island chic architecture and tropical landscape. Its 255 rooms are harmoniously arranged in three semi-circles with wonderful views over the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon, the coral reef and the Indian Ocean beyond. With a choice of 5 restaurants, and an extensive range of activities including preferred access to the Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Long Beach Mauritius strikes a chord with guests for its vibrant yet tranquil setting, complete with live entertainment and lush landscapes. While the spacious rooms with stunning views are a hit, some guests suggest they could benefit from a refresh. The hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, especially for the pristine pools and beaches, albeit with some calls for consistent cleaning schedules.
The all-inclusive package, however, has come under scrutiny for hidden costs. Service at the hotel can be a mixed bag—commendable for its friendliness but occasionally lacking in promptness. The resort's amenities are widely celebrated, though the secluded location may not suit everyone's taste.

My partner and I stayed at Long beach mid November for 2 weeks all inclusive, booked through TUI.
The first day we arrived, we were greeted with friendly smiles and fresh juice. The receptionist explained where everything was, but we had to wait a couple of hours for our room to be ready. This wasn’t a problem as they provided showers and we could use their facilities straightaway. We just lounged on the beach until it was ready.
The room was amazing, lots of space and clean. The mini fridge was always stocked up with drinks and snacks, and the maid would come everyday to clean our room. We did come across a few unwanted creatures in our room but we didn’t mind, it was part of the exotic experience.
The food was incredible, lots to choose from. There were always somewhere to sit. We booked chopsticks, was a nice change from the buffet restaurant. They had a range of delicious food, was a very quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
We spent most of our day lounging on the beach or by the adult pool. There were always beds available when we finished breakfast (around 9). The sun beds had a button to press for service. We had an excellent service from Jobin. He was lovely and would go the extra mile for us. Always had a smile on his face and would bring us tasty food and an ice cold bucket of drinks. We felt very looked after.
We went on the 5 island tour, I would 100% recommend Samual & Monica. We paid £300 for a private speed boat. We fed monkeys, saw the waterfall, dolphin watching and ended with an outstanding BBQ. The speedboat driver (can’t remember his name) was very welcoming, offered us drinks and taught us lots about each island.
We will definitely be returning. It was the most relaxing holiday I’ve been on. Didn’t have to lift a finger.
Thank you Long Beach!!

We have just returned home from our holiday 31/08/23 - 08/09/23 at the Long Beach Hotel resort in Mauritius and we miss it so much already. The holiday was to celebrate our 6 year anniversary and I had emailed the hotel in advance to mention this.
Board
All Inclusive
Resort
The resort is absolutely beautiful, well attended to by the grounds staff and has spacious surroundings, lots of greenery with the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, Sandy white beaches and lush fruitful palm trees and blue skies. They are very sustainable and have an on site fruit/veg/flower garden plus a Nature Trail you can visit on your stay which include the hotels very own bee hives where honey is made for the hotel. The square in the middle of the hotel serves as a beautiful seating area in the evening and also doubles as a craft market and entertainment stage.
Arrival
On arrival we were greeted by the team with a lovely little cocktail drink and asked to take a seat in the beautifully designed lobby while everything about the hotel was explained to us. A lovely little one to one introduction rather than a mass meeting by a rep. Our room wasn’t quite ready (as I had secretly requested an ocean front junior suite upgrade (my wife originally booked a junior suite with beach access)) however this wasn’t an issue as there were two very well equipped family sized changing rooms near reception so we could freshen up, leave our cases and go and explore the hotel for a bit and also use the facilities if required. We were contacted via WhatsApp when the room was ready so no need to keep going and checking.
The Room
Luckily the upgrade I requested was available and we were put in our Junior Suite Ocean Front room. Wow, what a room. I’d already looked at the floor plan on the Long Beach website but in reality it was so much better. The bed was massive (enough to fit 4 people) and so comfy with plenty of room either side and at the foot of the bed. The bathroom had separate loo, bath and shower for added privacy while the double sink area was well sized and enough for both my wife and I to get ready together in the evenings which was lovely. All the usual amenities were included, mini bar , hair dryer, tv, tea and coffee making facilities, bath robes, slippers etc.. some of the mini bar was on the all inclusive such as the local beers, juice and milk and some small snacks which were replenished daily. From the room the patio doors lead to a private patio area consisting of a comfy double patio settee and a table and two chairs. A lovely grassy walkway lead direct from the patio area to the beach. Pure bliss.
The food
We found the food to be excellent at all times of the day. The hotel has 5 restaurants and 1 main Bar
Le Marche restaurant - the main buffet restaurant for breakfast, Lunch and dinner (no need to book)
Tides restaurant - Beautiful beach bar with Mauritian cuisine (evening booking recommended)
Sapori restaurant - delicious Italian food and used as overflow for Le Marche at breakfast (evening booking recommended)
Chopsticks restaurant- Chinese cuisine (evening booking recommended)
Hasu restaurant - fantastic Japanese cuisine (evening booking recommended) this is the only restaurant where you have to pay (even on all inclusive however we were given a 900 rupee voucher to use). We had our anniversary meal here and it was out of this world so we were happy to pay for it. We were also surprised with the best table in the house (decorated for anniversary) looking over the main hotel square, free cocktail and a beautiful chocolate ganache to celebrate our anniversary which was a lovely touch. Elvis and Parmeet were our fantastic waiters and didn’t disappoint so thank you guys 👍🏼
Shores - the main bar where most people are drawn to after dinner. A lovely place to sit and have a drink during the day to cool off and in the evening it transforms into the entertainment hub for the hotel with quality live music every night and then a dj for the last hour or two. There are also some live acts on in the hotel square some evenings which are visible from Shores bar , Sapori and Hasu. In the evening we loved sitting out the back of Shores bar overlooking the garden and looking out for the massive fruit bats that would fly palm tree to palm tree. A sight to behold!
Drinks
The hotel has a great selection of drinks. The Thirsty Fox Weiss was my go to bottle of beer. We were very impressed with the selection of cocktails and other drinks you can get on all inclusive. It was way better than other places we have visited where you get a plastic beaker with half a watery beer in it. These are proper drinks. 🍻 🍸 . There are also water stations dotted around the resort to fill your water bottles which was very useful. Oh and if you haven’t already, try some Amarula. It’s like baileys with a twist.
Pools
Long Beach has two pools. The main pool is a good size, has crystal clear water and plenty of comfy sun beds and sun pods. There is also a pool bar so you can sit and have your drink with your feet in the pool. The other pool is an adults only infinity pool. Again with Crystal clear water it looks out straight onto the beach and ocean and is a lovely place to relax. There’s numerous sun pods here which are great for couples to cuddle up and catch the sun
Activities
The hotel has a number of land activities such as table tennis, tennis, gym etc.. none of which we used but they all looked in great keep. They also have a daily activity board where you can get involved in yoga, frisbee throwing, etc… they also offer a cocktail master class which we did on our anniversary day. It was fab and we learned a lot about the fruits, flowers, herbs that’s are used in the cocktails. Mauritius also has a lot of sugar cane plantations and so make a lot of their own rum , alot of which you can try in the hotel. We’d like to thank Arish and Sonish for making it a special treat for us. Obviously we got to drink the cocktails we made 😀.
The hotel also offers a number of free water activities such as Kayaking, wind surfing, paddle boarding, paddle boating, glass bottom boat and snorkeling. These are all free, just go to the boat house on the beach behind Le Marche and speak to Nicolas the boat house manager or one of his team. They also offer paid activities like parasailing and underwater walk. We had a fab time making the most of the free activities. There’s also a beach bar opposite the boat house so you can get your all inclusive drinks from there too and enjoy the views (if Toory is on shift and you’re a Newcastle fan then let him know as he is one too and will quite happily show you his shirt collection). We spent a few hours drinking with the guys after they shut up for the day. It was great chatting with them and finding out about Mauritius from their point of view. What a top bunch of guys!
Spa
The spa is located near the hotels botanical garden and looked amazing but we didn’t get the chance to use it unfortunately.
Staff
The staff at this hotel are absolutely the best in the business. Pretty much every one you pass will say hello (they also place their hand on their heart) which makes it feel even more sincere. They’re very attentive and all want to make sure you’re having a good holiday and know that you’re ok. They honestly can’t do enough for you, it’s so nice to see. The Mauritian people really are the loveliest. Special thanks to Pratimah in guest relations who was instrumental in ensuring we had the best anniversary holiday, Arish, Sonish, Toory, Oliver Elvis, Parmeet and Isaac in the service team and Nicolas, Antony and his team in the boat house.
Trips
We didn’t use the hotel for excursions because we met a guy further down the beach outside Solana Hotel called Tony Pablo. We booked the North Tour and Catamaran trip with him. Both trips for 2 of us cost 16,000 rupees in total and we had two fun filled days. Other operators are available.
Recommendations
1. Do use the free water sports. I get the feeling not many people know about this until the end of their holiday. It is mentioned in the welcome but I’m not sure people take it on board. Say hi to Nicolas from Andy and Emma and if your a toon fan give Toory a fist bump 👊🏼
2. If you need something, ask. The staff jump through hoops to help you. Pratimah in guest relations is a lovely young lady and will do whatever she can to help you enjoy your stay.
3. Book your evening meals with each of the restaurants at the start of your stay to make sure you get to experience what each one has to offer.
4. Try the Sante cocktail master class.
5. There are a number of sun beds and sun pods about the resort but there’s a lovely little cove section of beach that was out the back of our room (518) which had bean beds (I called them hippos cause they looked a bit like one). Head out to the beach from the hotel and turn left and keep walking, you’ll see them on your right. So comfy to lie on in a quiet spot.
6. Make use of the “Call Button”. Most of the thatched parasols have a Call Button. Press it and the guys will come and serve you food and drink all day. We spent a whole day on the beach and didn’t move 😂. Thanks Oliver and Isaac for your services.
7. Get your rupees at the airport as the hotel charge 7.5% commission.
8. Grab a pizza from Sapori (ask for takeaway) and eat it at the beach bar while having a drink , taking in the views and watching people fail at wind surfing 😂
9. Most of all enjoy. Long Beach Resort is by far the best hotel we have ever visited. Maybe it’s a seasonal thing but we didn’t have to fight for a sunbed once. Everything is so well spaced out there just seemed like there was plenty of space for everyone. So no need to rush out at 7am to get towels out 😂 (plus they also operate a 45 minute empty bed policy) not that we ever seen it imposed.

The hotel is well designed and built. Large nice rooms, beautiful well-kept area, nice beach. The service, in most cases, also did not cause any complaints. But, as they say, there are nuances. The hotel is managed by Sunlife Hotel Management Ltd who seem to have an incurable background in 4 star hotels. Free water in the room - only one bottle of 0.75 liters per day. Upon arrival, an “incredible generosity” compliment - two capsules for the coffee machine for the entire stay. Towels and bathrobes in the rooms are not of high quality. Some restaurants are not up to the standard of the hotel. Every trip there was a negative experience. The main restaurant de marshe with a buffet is a natural canteen from a cheap 4-star hotel: the serving area is extremely small, the choice of dishes is meager; The food reception area also leaves much to be desired. Restaurant sapori - for dinner à la carte - dishes and cutlery as if from a factory canteen, torn napkins, there is no hood in the open kitchen - the stench “like an ax” hangs in the air. One can say about the quality of food in these two restaurants - it’s “gruntly”. Despite the fact that some ingredients are of quite high quality, they are ruined either by low-quality other products or by poor “cooking”. Moreover, the prices for food and drinks are indicated as “horse”. Chopsticks restaurant - for dinner the menu was, in principle, acceptable, but nothing more - Aeroflot food in flight is no worse. As a result, poor food and artifacts from a 4-star hotel spoil the whole impression.

The best thing about this hotel is its location at the doorstep of a good beach. It also has a warm main pool which makes it great for swimming. It is also a good hotel for golfers - my husband is one - as you have access to Ile au cerfs and another golf course.
Unfortunately, the experience at Long Beach was rather underwhelming overall, and at times frustrating. We spotted the largest rat I have ever seen in my life, adjacent to the reception area, another smaller rat which ran through the restaurant and another one on a further occasion at night - within a period of 5 nights. Based on the reviews, this hotel has had a rat problem for the past 10 years.
This hotel also does skimp on some of the basics. This is the first 5 star hotel I have encountered that does not include even tiny milk cartons for coffee - they provide Nestlé Cremora. This is made of glucose and vegetable oil and I will never put this in my coffee. If you want milk for coffee, you're expected to pay for it. At a 5 star hotel?
Two individuals were exceptional and stood out for us in a positive way - Raj and Chirag at the Tides Restaurant. Such lovely people who made me and my family feel very welcome. Such gems - this hotel is lucky to have them.
Unfortunately, I had the opposite experience at Sapori restaurant. Not only did we not receive any service apart from placing us at a table, a waiter literally ignored my request for a menu - heard me, looked at me briefly and then rushed away without answering me. There is no excuse to disrespect a customer by not even having the courtesy to acknowledge their request. When asked about this, the waiter lied and told me that he had answered me. I guess me and my entire family are blind and deaf. When taking our order, he kept impatiently glancing up towards the door, presumably so as not to miss the next big table that was going to come through. Tacky, unbecoming and simply rude.
Housekeeping agreed to clean my room at a certain time- when returning to my room 4 hours later in the afternoon, it was not cleaned, with no water available for the entire day. This was met with the excuse of - a baby vomited in another room so they had to go there to clean. Is there only one cleaner in the entire establishment (note: there are several) and does one room take 4 hours to clean? After this lame excuse, management eventually apologized and appeared to understand why this was not really a good excuse. Subsequent to this, housekeeping made an extra effort to ensure that we had what we needed.
Some food was good, others not. A highlight was dinner starters at Tides - really good. At another restaurant, I ordered a creme brulee one evening and was served what appeared to be a gelatinous refrigerated tart - with no ramekin - another giveaway that this was not creme brulee. The texture and taste were entirely different. A creme Brulee is a baked custard, not a gelatinous tart.
Having experienced both Heritage Le Telfair and Sofitel a year ago, this hotel falls way behind. It should not even be in the same class - this is 4 star at best.

The resort is a very ‘long beach’, which must be where the name comes from. Expect to get your steps in for the day between any public spaces and your room.
The evening entertainment is different and enjoyable every night.
The room, a Junior Suite Premium, was comfortable and large. Although it wasn’t clear what the reason for the extra cost was since all rooms appear to have the outside terrace. The proximity to the beach (and a partial ocean view) and being situated all on the ground floor may be the attraction. Other rooms appear to have had the same facilities, although slightly smaller.
The housekeeping was exceptional with a daily clean (if you book it on the App, we think) and the drinks-master very quickly adapted to our needs for more beers in the fridge daily. Good job for picking up on that. Bedsheets and pillows didn’t get changed in a 7 day stay. It’s possible you had to ask for it. But not sure how.
The App (Sunlife) which you’re encouraged to download doesn’t really appear to make any material difference. Except for booking one of the 4 distinct restaurants (Hasu if you count 5 since we didn’t eat at the not-included Japanese restaurant). Chopsticks, this is the restaurant to visit. Wow. And wow again. The App didn’t help with a request for extra pillows or towels and the running total of the bill and spend was never updated.
Reception checks in with you on day 1 and 2 with a message, but then goes quiet. Again, not sure why.
All Inclusive is a must. The cost of items if you purchase it piecemeal will likely have you count the cents.
We thoroughly enjoyed the lunch and late afternoon snacks at the Adult Only pool area. Although the rules for ‘adults only’ was poorly enforced, a nudge to management did help to see guests with children move to the general pool area.
Day-visitors were swimming in their boxers-underwear as they pleased at the adults-only pool. Quite awkward as they would laugh and wink at you as a resort guest.
Service on the beach, and the constant availability of loungers is a massive plus.
The resort as a whole tries hard, and their facilities are vast and you’ll never feel crowded. We found that approaching barmen directly would have you feel like you’re imposing. Occasionally we also felt uncomfortable when we observed what appeared to be supervisors loudly addressing staff.
The stay was salvaged by the amazing and world-class service by the gentlemen at the adults-only pool. Jobin, Nixon & Dinesh - you are superstars. Thoughtful, memorable and a joy to have encountered. These three deserve a raise and a promotion, no doubt.

There are good and bad points to this hotel. Firstly the good points The location of the hotel right on the beach is excellent with the sand coming up to the main pool and bar. We could walk to the sea in less than 1 minute from our beach front room which was great. The standard and size of the room together with housekeeping was all excellent and there were UK and European plug sockets. The towels and bedding were good quality and fresh water was always delivered. The temperature of the sea and the pools was lovely and we had great weather nearly all the time. The boat house activities were good especially the snorkelling on the reef. Lots of different types of sun beds in many locations. Booking of the restaurants for the evenings was simple via the app and whilst the choice wasn’t extensive in any of the restaurants it was always good, apart from Hasu which was very disappointing.
Now the not so good points This is described as a 5 star chic resort but it doesn’t have the wow factor. The structure of the buildings and walkways are showing signs of wear and tear and some areas of the grounds are quite scruffy such as the sports area including uncared for tennis courts. We noticed wild dogs roaming freely around the grounds so we had concerns about hygiene and we did see them near people with food on the beach. Our main frustration was the time it took to be served at the bars and restaurants and we felt we were always chasing up our orders. It didn’t seem to be because of lack of staff as we could be waiting ages and no other orders had left the bar with staff stood around, this did not add to relaxing on holiday. We were given the excuse that some staff were new/interns but that is not our problem, it is the hotel’s. It all seemed so inefficient.
Overall we had a great time but you do really have to work hard to get the hotel and facilities to work for you.

My wife and I stayed for a week at Long Beach as part of a two week holiday in Mauritius to celebrate our recent golden wedding anniversary.
We booked the anniversary offer which provided a room upgrade and a very enjoyable celebratory dinner during our stay which was memorable.
We very much enjoyed our one week stay in a very comfortable suite in a quiet location on the resort. Our room was very comfortably decorated with everything provided for.
Long Beach is a large resort on the wonderful Belle Mare beach on the east coast of Mauritius. It has good facilities with four restaurants with three offering a dine-around concept for those on half board or all-inclusive with a further Japanese restaurant which required payment although some credit was given depending on your board plan. Food was excellent and the service was impeccable.
The hotel has a number of pools and whilst the infinity pool became busy because of the popularity of the pods surrounding it, equally the main pool had plenty of poolside seating accommodation.
There is extensive access to the beach, which like all beaches in Mauritius are public and therefore have free public access.
One minor criticism was the somewhat irregular refresh of our room which meant that our room was not always thoroughly refreshed with towels and fresh water replaced. Just to emphasise our room was addressed but some days significantly better than others
This however is minor criticism for a very good hotel which provided us with a very enjoyable week.
Highly recommended

We stayed at long Beach in May 2023 for 2 weeks we arrived at Hotel to a lovely cold drink and a nice cold face cloth check in was very quick the only disappointment was we had done an overnight flight we been awake 27 hours and room was not ready yet but they offered us use of a lovely shower to refresh ourselves which was nice we went down to the beach had a drink and some lunch than went back to be taken to our room. Out room was lovely shower or bath tv fridge with coke beer milk apple juice it was refreshed every day there was tea and coffee in your room there was pod coffee two free ones than you pay if you wanted anymore of them we didn't touch them we also had water in our room too. The beach was lovely you need Beach shoes in the sea as there sea urchins on the bottom so beach shoes were advised by tui we had staff coming to the sun beds on the beach taking your order for drinks you sign for everything drinks lunch and dinner but not breakfast we were all inclusive food was amazing the Italian restaurant amazing food love that you can see the chefs cooking. If you want to go to the chop sticks or Italian or seafood restaurant you just go and see the concierge where you eat breakfast and they will book it for you the only restaurant you have to pay for was the Japanese restaurant Hasu which we didn't go to but wish we had as was told food was amazing too. The staff were amazing couldn't do enough for us Anastasia, Melissa, Celine so beautiful flowers at breakfast and a teaspoon for my husband for his pudding even before my husband asked them they had it in there pocket for him. Also Marco at lunch time was lovely bar staff really friendly. Ashvin Dookhee was lovely he couldn't do enough for us thank you. We did a trip the South of the island with tui with Lindley as are tour guide so you can ask for him with tui tours he was amazing. We also did walking with the lions at Casela Nature Park that was amazing staff there was absolutely amazing too. Thank you Long Beach for an amazing hoilday.

Total disappointment as I sit in the gym of Long Beach writing this review. Three of the technogym equipment do not work. There are no more water cups. The wooden structure on the outside of the building is falling apart.
We arrived on Monday and had prerequested a ground floor room as we have 3 children so do not want a terrace for safety reasons and we also cannot carry the children and the two buggies up and down stairs. They had put us in an upstairs apartment which is totally impractical so we asked to be moved and were told ‘sorry but they cannot accommodate us!’
Eventually after a couple of hours I told the guest relations representative that he will find us a ground floor room or move us back to sugar beach where we had come from.
Amazingly a ground floor room was then made available. The beachfront suite is really beautiful although the wind absolutely howls and whistles through the closed doors. Our shower head didn’t work and our toilet flusher eventually broke into the wall…
Two days later we have been moved to a ground floor family suite. This room smells mouldy. The outside area represents something out of Armageddon with dead grass and dead plants.
There are rat bait stations visible throughout the hotel too. It looks terrible for a so called 5 star resort. The resort is tired and needs a lot of work.
In the middle of showering my three boys last night the water switched off! This morning no cold water at the one basin and barely any water coming out of the other tap! When speaking to a fellow guest she said they too don’t have water and this is the second time in this family suite block that there has been no water.
On the first day we also went to eat at the Italian restaurant Sapori. When I asked if I could please order chicken nuggets and chips for my kids the answer was no and that I must go to the restaurant by the pool! A total ‘can’t do’ attitude!
All in all we are incredibly disappointed in Long Beach. It is far from 5 stars and cannot compare to its sister resort Sugar Beach which was fantastic.
Needless to say that if our water is not restored by this evening they will have to move us to another room or back to Sugar Beach.

Visited with family on vacation and stayed in Junior suite. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The decor is very pleasing and having a cup of tea/coffee in the patio amid the serene surroundings is a great experience. The lovely white sand beach with various amenities (beach chairs, service available even at the beach, water sports ) is another high point. The buffet was a lavish spread with wide variety of delicacies to choose from (food may be a bit bland for Indian taste bud). The swimming pool is well maintained where one can lounge with his/her drink (depth is not much and adults can walk across the pool). There are other activities also which one can enjoy. The resort is a perfect stay catering to comfort across all ages. Overall had a great time!

We did 1/2 board as not big drinkers either. And as we knew we would be out during the day sightseeing felt the extra for AI to be extortionate. 2 beers approx £16. Hope this helps. Have a great holiday. But of advice it’s very windy at this hotel you will need a jacket wrap or cardigan in the evenings. Also there isn’t much seating in the bar and plaza area we gave up a few nights and just went back to our room
There are more places to choose from in the Belle Mare area.
