Beautiful hotel which has now closed down. The food was out of this world, the dinner buffets were to die for except breakfast which was repetitive. Snorkelling was wonderful we saw a giant eagle ray, moray eel, sting rays, +++ The rooms were of a high 5* standard befitting of the Maldives. Unfortunately there was some construction going on next to our room which was unacceptable.
We visited Loama Resort in the Maldives during the rainy season. We definitely give it 5 stars. We loved it! The staff were amazingly kind, especially Suraj, Majibur, Shahin, Rose, Bel, Julia, Antari, and Raafiui. They were extremely competent, and treated us very kindly. We would recommend anyone going to the Maldives, to visit Loama Resort for exceptional treatment, a wonderful view, and comfortable lodgings. This was our first trip to the Maldives, and the resort was everything we had hoped it would be. We had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the resort!
Everyone travels a long way to get to the Maldives, especially the out lying atolls. You don't want to arrive to find the other 30 guests at the resort are a tour group, from, lets say China. You pay all that money and then... This didn't happen to us, we planned and avoided it, because it's spoilt alot of freinds holidays in recent years. Staff at the resort confirmed it. Its not only this beautiful resort either. Mid December and early February are times when you can avoid this. The resort buffet food caters for the majority of guests, so unless you want to eat Chinese for your Maldives luxury break heed my advice. The resort is fabulous, the staff are international and great.
We stayed at Loama from the 14th to the 22nd of April 2017 and were pleasantly surprised at how excluded this island is from the others. You have very few habited islands around which was wonderful, especially when you see how grouped the other Atolls are. We had booked into the overwater bungalows on the sunrise side and I would definitely recommend this option to anyone who has never been to the Maldives. It was an exceptional experience especially viewing the stingrays and fish swimming right past your doorstep and being on the sunrise side ensured that in afternoons/evenings you get to enjoy some cooler moments at the peak heat time of the day. The rooms were fabulous and have everything you could want, especially more than enough free water to get you through the day. All the staff were wonderfully friendly and everyone went out of their way to make our stay amazing. A special thanks to Chef Ronald, Haneef & Raafu.. it was always an even bigger pleasure catching up with you every day. Also a thank you to the person who cleaned our Villa 247, we didn't manage to get his name, but its the small touches that make a stay so enjoyable. There were a few small things that could have some improvement i.e. : - Some beach villa`s dont have much view on the sea and could have their vegetation cut back. - The area in-front of the pool has a certain amount of erosion (which is of course inevitable but) that needs to be fixed.. the sandbags used are a terrible eyesore and should be replaced. - It was a shame that the Thai restaurant was still closed after all the months, but still nice that one could order in the main restaurant if desired. There however seemed to always be improvements and renovations on the go such as `re-thatching`of the roofs of the villas etc which is good especially with the harsh climate and elements, and I am sure these small details will be fixed in no time. -- Arrival at Ifuru airport was not super convenient as no clear guidance and then because only 1 golf cart available for ALL guests arriving, we had to walk in the heat of the day to the jetty which was around 1km. Not that we mind walking, but in 35 degrees with jeans and not being offered refreshment until we were on the boat was a little uncomfortable. Finally, the ONLY thing I would change is that we had booked to go on the sunset dolphin cruise. While we understand there is a 50% chance of seeing dolphins, it wasn't the fact that we didn't see them that was upsetting. Firstly, according to the activity agenda shared in the rooms, Dolphin watching was meant to be Tues & Thurs at 18:00, so we planned accordingly with a massage on Weds, which we then had to move because when we booked the Dolphin cruise they said it was on Weds. Then on the day, we were told to meet at 16:00 instead of 18:00, so we showered and prepared and were then called 25 mins before to say it had been postponed to 16:45. We arrived on time, then had to wait for late clients, so we set off around 17:00. We were then only out on the water for 50 mins before they brought us back. This is keeping in mind that the full experience was meant to be 1.5 hours for USD 65.- EXCL. Vat per person. I was extremely disappointed in the management of this activity especially as I think we were dashed back to the resort so that they could take a group of people leaving to the airport. We watched the group get on the boat we had just vacated with their luggage. Anyway, apart from this little hiccup we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again.…
We visited the resort for a weekend. It is a beautiful property with the beaches and the sea... however, a few areas have fallen into disuse... the Thai restaurant etc. The alcoholic beverage selection was limited to a few options. Staff - attentive and prompt. Saw a wedding photography (gowns for hire too) shop there...pretty unique... Rooms - and crisp and clean...non luxury. Some great furniture / fixtures in the lobby and public area.
