This review is quite long but, I have so much positives to say for this resort :) Firstly I want to say that ALL of the staff at this resort (Jay the GM, Nishan our butler, restaurant, bar, housekeeping, maintenance, water sports & entertainment staff) make this resort, they always make time to talk to you and anything you may need nothing is too much trouble. As soon as we arrived by seaplane (what amazing experience)and landing on the water next to the jetty we were greeted by our butler Nishan and offered drinks at reception, Presseco in our room with fruits and a hand written note from the team, such a lovely touch. Jay the GM has really been wonderful to us during our stay, we just had one small issue despite this, he resolved this straight away over and above our expectations ... thank you again :) You always see him talking and checking in on guests, that goes a long way and it just shows how great he is, he genuinely cares for his guests. Myself and my boyfriend have really enjoyed the relaxing aspect of this resort, we have been here over Christmas and new year & the hotel have really got this chilled vibe spot on, the room we had was absolutely fantastic, it was the dolphin villa with pool with sunset views, we spent most our day at our villa, seeing several stingrays, needlefish etc. We then moved to the beach villas... just wow..the best aspect is the bathroom just stunning! Housekeeping were great, the rooms always clean to high level, topping up on fresh towels etc and always saying hi to us.. such a great team :) We decided on full board for us, this was perfect for us, the a la carte was great especially at lunch.. perfect portions and the food so tasty, we absolutely loved the Italian, think it’s Indika who headed up the Italian.. he couldn’t do enough for us and the team! Thank you! The Japanese we enjoyed but the Italian and sands have been our favourite. Fresh sushi in sands.. wow absolutely loved it! Lunch menu.. The fresh fish was fantastic.. especially the fish kebabs! We went out on a half day trip and the team who were on this trip were absolutely lovely, this trip is a must, you visit the island that was hit by the tsunami & then off to a deserted island to snorkel, some of our other trips we had booked had to be cancelled due to the weather obviously no fault of the resort but we heard snorkelling trips etc were great. We had so much fun at the glow party, all the staff being involved, the hotel gave us extras such as the face glow paint, flashing glasses and bracelets such a great touch .. great music from the dj and to dance in the pool until the early hours was so much fun. The effort for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve was unreal and really made it special for us.. thank you! Just wonderful! Gorgeous handmade cake left in our room on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve chocolate & sarongs.. lovely keep sake to remind us of this wonderful holiday, we also had a professional photo taken on NY and when we got back in our room we had it in a handmade frame.. so sweet. We are so glad we chose this resort as our first experience in the Maldives.. I have never taken so many photos to try and capture all the special moments... Jay and all staff working here are a credit to the resort, they made it for us.. a BIG THANK YOU to you all, they make you feel part of a family & I will never ever forget the memories we made. Finally, the hotel ensured that everyone is kept safe during covid, it felt heaven just to forget what’s going on off this island... if you would like relaxation, pamper and lovely food this resort is perfect. Just a few names of the team but, I have to say everyone was lovely... so please send our appreciation to all :) Jagadheesh Assadh Nafaah Indika Anim Usaid Ljaal Abdulla Nail The only negative I would have, is some guests were so awful to staff, to the point I was close to approaching one particular guest to tell them to get some manners. The staff were trying the hardest day and night to help keep everyone happy! Thank you all and keep safe! …
When entering this beautiful island, you straight away feel your shoulders lower down and the tranquility kicks in; breathtaking beaches and such a warm welcome :) We managed to have 4 days in a Manta villa, with sunrise view and ended 2 days with a Dolphin villa, over Christmas, with a sunset view - both villas were amazing in all aspects and we felt we never wanted to leave. From arrival to departure, we felt the staff were always very attentive and thanks to Anish and the staff for always being there, asking if anything specific we wanted to plan or anything else they could do and making our stay overall very memorable. Overall such a cosy and stunning place, small and private (maybe max 180-200 guest or so, so will never feel packed) and for us without kids, it was nice that it’s an adults only island. BEACH There are spots all around the island, clear water and white sand, you can choose your preferred spot depending which way the sun is shining from :) in one of the evenings, on Christmas actually- we managed to see the blue plankton in the water! Such an experience and we were so caught up we didn’t even remember to take photos :) FOOD Lots of variety from different outlets, we always had plenty to choose from, being international cuisine, Italian, Tepanyaki or even the H2O restaurant (remember to book tables in advance as they are all very popular and there are limited seatings) As we were there during Christmas, they had special arrangements each day and we also encountered a local Maldivian evening; all foods were fresh, lovely and service was great! Thanks to Gihan and his team, for making great efforts and high quality service and food no matter which restaurant we choose during our stay! VILLA Authentic, cosy, and just perfect; both Manta villa and Dolphin villa were really amazing, we enjoyed both equally and can highly recommend to choose few days each side (to have a chance of seeing both the sunrise and sunset from the terrace!) DIVING We had 3 days, 6 dives - we managed to see so many different fishes (no idea their names, maybe one was Nemo :)) turtles, mantas, lion fishes etc. AMAZING. Thanks to Jinah, Adam, Miranda and the team for the efforts in finding the best dive spots (despite the weather teasing us at times) and we had such a great time. ACTIVITIES Kayaking, Stand up paddle boarding, jet ski as well as other sport activities are there, don’t miss it out and enjoy it in the blue water! We focussed on our kayaking skills, that was equally bad when we left; but hey we had an amazing view while trying to row :) SPA We managed to have a really nice massage, the spa overlooking the blue water and villas, so tranquil! While having a massage, we could see fishes swimming under us, while looking at the glass floor under the head rest :) ENTERTAINMENT As we stayed over Christmas, they’ve made extra efforts for a Christmassy feeling and I must say we really appreciated all the efforts and the way they tried making us all having a great time. STAFF As already mentioned few places above. Overall the best team we could wish for, everyone was so friendly, attentive, and service was overall way above average; especially many thanks to Anish and Gihan, we really appreciated all the efforts and to make us feel special - hope to come back and see you all soon! THANK YOU…
We stayed at You and Me from 23rd December to 7th January. Transport as always was seamless from the airport to the island. We did get 2 of our bags later in the day due to the TMA being at full capacity.I was starting to get worried but Nabeel our island host made sure we got them immediately they arrived on another aircraft. We were booked into a Dolphin villa with pool (room 505)and I had by email asked for one near to land as I had recently had an operation on my foot and thought walking might become difficult. We were so grateful to Nabeel and Jay the General Manager for the chance to have a beach villa with pool (107)as it was much closer to restaurants etc. I am very grateful. My foot remained swollen for the entire time and was difficult at times to walk on the sand however the bar were so helpful and kept me supplied with bags of ice twice a day to try and reduce the swelling.Again I am very grateful. We didn’t really miss the sunset we initially wanted because the villa was perfect. Spotlessly clean, our housekeeper (so sorry I forgot his name ) was brilliant, funny, chatty and most of all good at his job. The management should consider changing its complimentary shower gel and shampoo etc, it really smells awful, it’s watery and near impossible to get a sufficient amount from the ‘screwed down’ dispensers. We were on an all inclusive basis but we asked for the room bar to be emptied of alcohol and filled with Diet Coke daily. We had also mentioned that our gift of a bottle of red wine wasn’t something we drank and Nabeel had it changed for white wine, such a nice efficient man. He checked on me often because of my sore foot and was very helpful,we didn’t do any trips as we planned even though Nabeel went out of his way to book excursions but my pain proved too much at times. The Christmas Eve Gala Dinner was lovely however due to the COVID restrictions it was all table service and it proved chaotic and we were still waiting on our main dish at 10pm , the food was mostly cold (as it was for most meals) which was a great shame as the food was actually very tasty. New Years Eve gala dinner was a completely different matter, the food was hot, Lobster was incredible and the desserts to die for, prompt service and was much more organised although we ordered drinks that never came . We ate at all the restaurants (except the Japanese)and I have to say the H2O for dinner was the most amazing, great food , great service and the setting was memorable. La Pasta was also very very good and the pizzas and our request for Capresse was the best. Service was exceptional. ‘Sands’ was chaotic, and I hate to say it but some of the staff need to have more training. Serving warm water from the bottle that had been sitting in the sun was a big no no for us. We had asked a waiter on a few occasions for cold water from the fridge but sometimes it just caused too much hassle for him and he just brought ice ! We discovered that Usaid and a couple of his colleagues were very competent and friendly and we tried to sit in his area knowing service was good. Be warned the portions are small and if you have a big appetite you need to order 2 portions. Our food on 2 occasions didn’t appear. 1st the order wasn’t put in and when we asked were told “it’s coming” it didn’t and eventually we got an apology. 2nd time we ordered, (sometimes you have to ask to order because you are forgotten after the water is poured) and the food didn’t arrive our order went to the next table, we queried and they apologised and our order was re done. My well-done burger was pink and cold , it’s the first time I have ever walked away from a table because of the food and service. We did get apologies and things did seem to improve but we much preferred to eat in La Pasta. Same thing with ‘The Green’ at lunch, Sometimes what was on the menu wasn’t always what you got served and Nasi Goren with fried egg on top for instance was mostly ‘without’ the egg, even when we asked for it we were told “it’s just how the chef makes it”. Portion sizes were bizarre, if you ordered beef tenderloin at lunch you got two small pieces however at dinner it was one !! My husband asked for vegetables as the beef was served on a ‘smear’of mash potato, they brought the grilled vegetables but took off the mash !! Things do get lost in translation. My husband’s obsession with the ‘Oreo icecream’ caused much laughter and thanks to the waiting on staff for taking it in good fun. Diet Coke ran out on the island twice while we were there, perhaps we drank too much ? Cocktails were often lacking in alcohol and my husband had to ask for some to be put in on several occasions.mojitos were very nice! We were overjoyed that our request for Drambuie on the island was granted. Having our sundowner or night cap was brilliant so thank you for that it was much appreciated. The entertainment was very good , every night the live band were either in the bar or Sands and sometimes both. The island itself is small and it’s very easy to walk around, it’s very clean and tidy . The beaches are pristine but the sand is very sharp with coral and shell pieces so you have to be careful in bare feet. The pool area is spotless , the sun loungers are heavy log contraptions which are not at all comfortable.(The sun loungers at our villa are new and comfortable.) The music in the pool area, bar and The green is much too loud and not at all relaxing,in such a beautiful setting background music is much more atmospheric. Several guests also commented that it was too loud, perhaps this can be looked.... at its such a simple thing to change. From my Husband ...a report on the diving at the the resort. Dive Centre Name: You & Me Dive Point Manager: Miranda Divemaster: Jinah The dive centre is the best run centre I have used in the Maldives (6 previous visits to other islands). Prior to going I emailed them to check whether they could accommodate my Sidemount diving and they emailed back direct stating they could. They only have 12l cylinders available though so if you wish to Sidemount you need to bare that in mind. It didn’t cause me any issues though and EAN was available at no extra cost. The centre is run my Miranda and she joins you on the boat as well. The first boat in the morning leaves at 08.30 and you conduct 2 dives and generally get back to the resort around 12.30 in time for lunch. The afternoon dive takes place around 3pm. The centre runs the full range of PADI course and whilst I was there they put a few new divers through their certification. The Nitrox course is readily available as well. I completed 17 dives during our visit in a totally relaxed environment, no rush and plenty of fun. Only one day the sea was rough but it didn’t cause too many issues. On our way from one dive site to another we spotted a squadron of manta rays and stopped nearby and jumped in for a snorkel with them – we then made that our next dive site and after the surface interval we went in with them. We saw them up close and personal. In fact, on quite a lot of the sites you are pretty much guaranteed Manta, Eagle Ray, Sharks (I had my first Shiver of Sharks, at last ….. and when I returned a couple of days later I got a Shiver again). I completed most of the dives with the centre’s Divemaster, Jinah, a proud Maldivian, with a great sense of humour and a real pleasure to dive with. If you are a diver then booked yourself in here. If you are not a diver then book yourself in here and get your certification in one of the best places on the planet, in one of the best run PADI Dive Centres in the Maldives. Thanks for the trip guys. Dave. ........................... One point I must make, there was a large group of guests who were very intimidating and were loud, drunk and obnoxious to staff and guests alike. They were extremely rude and at times I really felt very sorry for the service staff to put up with this threatening treatment, they caused fellow guests to ask to be moved from their water villa because of loud music and fighting . We have met people and made lasting friends from all over the world from all walks of life but these people and their behaviour spoilt a beautiful relaxing island. Such a shame they had to behave this way. It’s a comprehensive but honest review , it doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy it. We had the best time at You and Me and we tipped generously as the staff on the whole worked very very hard in the heat and wearing masks the whole time. We wish all at the resort a happy and healthy 2021.…
We was meant to get married before we arrived her but sad to say due to Scotland government they stop use twice from getting married so was meant to be we’re honeymoon but hotel still granted it and gave us the honeymoon extras fingers crossed third time lucky April 2021 😂 I have to say this was one amazing holiday me and my partner have ever had. When you see photo online and in holiday books you really don’t think it can look as good as it says. Well I have to say the photos do justice in all areas of the island. I have to thank all the staff for all there hard work doing a great job looking after the island from watching them cleaning the beach every morning to serving beautiful breakfast, lunch and evening meals and the great music of hat the DJ plays at nights great beats. I have to say we miss hearing the breakfast waiter (NA-AM) voice in the morning this woman always full of joy and we just wanted to adopt her she was amazing. Also all other staff as well was amazing and so helpful and kind. Were cleaning for the room always made sure the room was cleaned and always very helpful and making sure we had the right items stocked in the fridge each day and again very nice guy so keep up the good work. From arriving from sea please our butler Nishan was amazing from first to last day. He was so helpful at arranging day trips and evening meals and always at the end of a WhatsApp message anytime we needed him but due to us having such a great time we did not have to bother him very little as everything was so perfect. The sports centre I have to say just WOW they was awesome and for me being crazy for jet ski night they made sure I got a great time and the extra time in there was evening better. The first time on them got to go crazy just out side the hotel and the next day was even better as we went around all different islands looking for dolphins but sad to say no luck that day lol. The highlight of my trip and I recommend everyone having a go is the FLY BOARD just WOW the best think I have ever done and they trained me so well even they was amazed how fast I learned it. Was so Advanced I finished the second day just short of 10mtrs in the air was best feeling ever. I have to say the only thing I did not like about the island was FLYING DRONES the island says on there website these are not allowed to be used by guests. There was nothing worse sitting relax in the villa and at the beach having this buzzing hovering noise going around so really think that needs to be stopped. Only the hotel one is allowed for them using to take professional photo shoots. Overall the best time on were life’s. ❤️…
We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas break. Unfortunately, the customer service at this hotel was the one of the worst we have ever experienced anywhere, and definitely by a mile the worst at any 5 star hotel. We would advise anyone to stay away from this hotel. We met a lot of honeymooners etc on this trip and we couldn’t help but feel bad for them, that they chose to stay at You & Me for what surely they hoped would be a memorable and special vacation. Although the island is beautiful and the diving is good, the overall service at this hotel is 3 star at best. Some of the main issues we encountered: Arrival/return transfer. The hotel states on its website that the airport transfer is 45 minutes with a seaplane - we booked (and paid for) this in advance as requested. However, after arriving in Male, we were left waiting at the seaplane terminal in Male for 4 (four) hours! During our 4 hour wait, the hotel representative failed to let us know how long we were expected to wait and the reason for the delay. We were given multiple and changing explanations (first we were told we had to wait for other passengers, later that the delay was due to the weather). We called the hotel to ask how much longer we would have to wait for our seaplane. To our shock, the individual on the line was extremely rude to us and failed to reassure us that they would transfer us to the hotel as soon as possible. Upon arrival at the hotel, there was proper apology or explanation for the delay. The return transfer was, again, far from smooth. The seaplane made many different stops at other hotels along the way, so the entire journey took more than 2 hours (plus it already started with 1.5 hours delay – again no one bothered to tell us, and we had to just wait and wait). On our various stops across the Pacific Ocean, it was insightful to see how the passengers from other hotels were escorted to their seaplanes, having their luggage carried & being sent off with a proper goodbye. We had to carry our own luggage and no one even bothered to ask us how our stay was or wished us a good journey home. The customer service at You&Me is atrocious. Food. We enquired in advance with the hotel regarding our dietary requirements. We were assured this would not be a problem. However, each time we ordered our meals in the hotel restaurants containing products that we cannot / do not eat, despite having explained our dietary requirements several times and spoken to the head chef. If you have any sort of dietary requirements or even allergies YOU MUST STAY AWAY. The waiters seemed to be trying their best, however it appeared that they were not given any proper training and simply did not understand words like ‘dairy’ or ‘gluten-free’. Dietary requirements aside, the hotel only served Italian and Japanese food. Not quite the Maldivian cuisine we were expecting. The food in general is incredibly bland. Restaurant reservations. Note that you will need to make reservations for both lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurants. If you’re looking to be somewhat spontaneous on your holiday – good luck. The restaurants are booked out days in advance!…
