Our trip to the Maldives in November 2023 to the newly opened Kanuhura, now under the management of Six Senses, was simply exceptional and unforgettable. We stayed for 3 weeks and every day was a revelation of gorgeous nature, caring service and genuine smiles. I have visited several islands in the Maldives, but Kanuhura is truly outstanding in every way! The island itself is perfect, with a wonderful beach all around, which is almost unique in the Maldives. There is also beautiful old vegetation with countless orchids. Very comfortable, newly renovated or newly built, tasteful bungalows where you simply feel at home. In addition to this perfect island, and the fantastic food, which leaves nothing to be desired, I would particularly like to mention the friendliness, the warmth and the great service. The list of "good spirits" is long - very long, but I would like to mention a few here: JB, Brice, Thapa, Farooq, Aroon, Diba, Ann, Blackbird, Amilla, Quwan, Arshad and so many more. All deserve to be mentioned and praised for their kindness, courtesy and helpfulness. A special thank you also to the housekeeping staff who always went out of their way to make our beautiful water bungalow perfect and put special lactose free milk in the fridge for my daughter every day, in addition to the special goodies they surprised us with every day. What else is there to say ..... except that everything was so perfect and so much better than we could have ever imagined. We'll be back when life allows. That is our goal! We are grateful that we chose Kanuhura. Susanne and Manon (Big Fans)

Hotel's Favorite
I visited this place exactly 20 years ago when this was One & Only Kanuhura. I got my Advanced Open Water certification and Nitrox in 2003 at Kanuhura Sun Dive Center. Kanuhura used to be one of the first top resorts in Maldives at that time. We eagerly awaited this new Six Senses to open and immediately went on our family vacation. VILLAS – 9/10 We arrived at Six Senses a few days after the official opening as a family of 3 (together with a couple that were our friends), and we stayed in Beach Villas with a pool facing Northeast (the side of the Water Villas). First of all, I believe this is the better side of the island as it is quieter as all the activities are on the other side (Boat jetties, Water planes, and so on are all on the other side) On the water villa side, the beach is narrower, but the sand is more soft (beautiful soft white sand) Most of the villas are fully refurbished with pools, and there are some completely newly built ones called retreats (marked K, L, M, and N on the hotel map) that you can download from the Six Senses website. The newly built villas are around the Point restaurant. The new villas are superb; however, be aware that the newly planted vegetation around these retreats is quite sparse, and there is plenty to grow in the future. So, there can be a sense of insufficient privacy. I recommend water villas and beach villas marked B and E on the side where the water villas are located. At each villa, you get your own bicycle that even has a tag (with each guest's initials laser engraved in wooden tags attached to the bicycle. FOOD – 10/10 The food at the resort was exceptional, and we particularly enjoyed dining at the Spanish restaurant THE POINT for lunch and dinner. Our favorite Chef, Manu (from Sevilla, Spain), is a super friendly and great guy; we loved his food, ambiance, and even our conversations. Food includes many Spanish specialties like Jamón ibérico, lobsters, fresh fish and beef on the Josper grill, long-time cooked lamb cutlets, etc. Below the restaurants at night-time is a gathering place for baby sharks, sting rays, and birds. The restaurant for breakfast, "The Market," also offers an incredible selection of high-quality food, including over 50 different types of fresh fruits. Guests can enjoy a variety of freshly squeezed juices, excellent coffee, and eggs prepared to order. The breakfast station also features an array of different top-class cheeses and other delicious options, such as Hand-sliced prosciutto, freshly baked bread and focaccias, huge croissants and pastry section, salad bar, and 2 x Asian food stalls. On a few nights, we had thematic buffets (Asian and the better one was a Barbecue dinner with lobsters, shrimps, fresh tuna reef fish, and all kinds of meat. We dined for a few days in the Italian restaurant "Bottega,” a great Italian chef cooking special pasta for our son, who had some allergies, and personally cooked his pasta. Great pizza and other Italian dishes are on the menu. Sip & sand is a restaurant and bar near the main pool – casual to drink a few draft beers. We had lunch there for a few days. Scoops is where you can always pass and get your lovely ice cream- your scoops of complimentary Six Senses ice cream. My son passes every day to get his marvellous vanilla ice cream. The only place we did not dine for lunch was Drift, located on the gorgeous Jehunuhura Island *the neighboring island is amazing. The reason was that this restaurant was not included in our Full Board pack, and we opted out of the other great lunch options (Point was the best). Even if you do not dine in Drift, a free boat ride visit to Jehunuhura is a must as this is incredible beauty. SCUBA DIVING 10/10 Fushifaru Protected Marine Area used to see more than 100 sharks in one dive in 2003 and is still great today. You cannot see 100 sharks now, but in an area of 20 in one dive, yes. The scuba diving experience is fantastic, especially if you love sharks, as the dive sites around the channels are brilliant. Fushifaru Kandu and Fushifaru Thila are brilliant spots, particularly if you can dive during the incoming current, as it is full of big fish from sharks, huge tuna, barracudas, schools of Eagle Race, and huge Stingrays. During one dive, you can witness at least 20 sharks, schools of fish, and huge turtles. We were fortunate enough to experience four Manta Rays, even though the manta season had not started yet, and it was amazing. I was so lucky some days to be alone on the boat with my divemaster, Elisa. I basically had private diving:) Diving boats and the quality of the equipment and service on board was beyond expectations (and I have been diving in 10 different Maldivian Atolls) WATER SPORTS (SNORKELLING) – 10/10 My wife and son also went snorkeling with the Water Sports Center and were fortunate to swim with the Manta Rays. They also spotted and snorkeled with 4 mantas in Fushifaru and snorkelled with 20 big nurse sharks, which was fantastic. Safety (one of the guides always swims with my son), food, service, boats, everything is over 10 /10. Overwater plane transfers were excellent with Manta Air – all transfers were smooth, efficient, and well-planned. There is a game club called Island Hideout, with pool tables, foosball tables, darts, and other games. Nice one OVERALL: It is a brilliant resort that was hard to leave. Or you leave with tears in your eyes. As this is in the soft opening period, things will only improve, and we look forward to returning.

Dear ivo_k, A warm hello from Six Senses Kanuhura! Thank you for sharing your experience of your recent stay with us. It's wonderful to hear that you were eagerly waiting for Six Senses Kanuhura to officially launch. I truly appreciate how your review gives a detailed insight into the villas, food, scuba diving, and water sports. It is a great pleasure to know that you have enjoyed staying in the Beach Villa with Pool. However, the mention of newly built retreats and their landscaping is valuable information for us to take corrective measures, and I will surely keep that in mind. Our talented chefs were very pleased to know that you enjoyed their finest creations at all the restaurants and had a wonderful dining experience. They would like to express their gratitude for your recognition of their hard work, particularly Chef Manu (Spanish Chef) and Chef Fillipo (Italian Chef), who are always eager to serve exceptional dishes to our guests. It's great to hear that you explored and enjoyed the neighboring island, Jehunuhura even if you were not able to try the lunch experience in Drift. I understand that dining choices are important, and we'll take this into consideration as we aim to provide even more dining flexibility for our guests in the future. However, I am delighted to know that you found The Point to be a standout lunch option. Your input helps us improve and offer the best possible experience for our guests. Your experience of scuba diving and snorkeling sounds fantastic, especially with the opportunity to witness sharks, huge tuna, barracudas, schools of eagle rays, huge stingrays, mantas, and nurse sharks. It's great to know as well that Elisa, the rest of the Dive Team, and the Water Sports Team have provided your family with a safe and enjoyable experience. Once again, I appreciate your wonderful praise for our offerings and please know that the entire team is duly recognized for a job well done, as always. It may be a bit early to think of your next holiday already, but I would love to welcome you back with us in the not-too-distant future. Best regards, Bryce Seator General Manager

Barefoot concept resort…One of the best experience in the Maldives! It is useless to describe the beauty of this island, beautiful as many other resorts we’ve stayed in Maldives, the pictures speak by themselves…But what makes it really stand out is the impeccable standards of service, to which they have raised the bar, and they have made it very difficult for others resorts to compete with. The genuine hospitality of the whole staff, and how they never make you feel like a burden, no matter what you ask for, or how demanding you are, is really inspiring. Special thanks to …our personal butler, Mohamed Arshad, as well as our Sunset Point bartender, just to name a few of the memorable staff who made our experience feel very personal. Just remember this: kickoff your sandals and enjoy Six Senses Kanuhura

Six Senses Kanuhura is a little gem that is worth the visit! There are a lot of great hotels and Maldives but we are certain we made the right choice. From the moment they take your shoes off right when you step into the hotel until they waving goodbye at your departure. Staff is incredible! Food is amazing and healthy. Recommend to book halfboard. The Point spanish restaurant is delicious. You also eat in company of lots of. Little crab by the sand and you can see little baby sharks swimming closeby. We also ordered sushi once and was over the top. We stayed a week so could enjoy the two bbq nights at the main restaurant and was amazing!!! Barefoot on the beach! They have an italian restaurant too and this one was ok… Spa: lots of Indian, thai and indonesian therapist. All good! Facilities 10/10. Dive: me and my husband are advanced divers and we super recommend! They do 9h shift for the advanced. 11h and 15h for open water ! The week we were there was VERY windy and sometimes strong currents but they have so many places close to the hotel and all great. My husband also did a night dive and loved it. Service: great staff, attention, they recently opened so they are very careful and receiving feedbacks very positively. Must do: go to their 2nd island and enjoy! Its pristine! The Drift restaurant is also nice. If you dive I dont recommend much the snorkeling close to the hotel but if you dont is a must do. Breakfast is super complete- freshly squeezed juices, lots of coffee options, bowls, home made granolas, cakes, all types of eggs. Visited the gym once and did a mat pilates which also not complimentary but nice. They have a room with lots of games, billard, ping pong that is worth a visit during night or rainy day. We have booked 4 nights in a water villa and 3 nights in a beach villa. The first night in the water villa was not very nice because was such a strong wind that the ocean was very wild and I couldnt sleep much. The forecast for the next days were not great so I asked if they could switch us to the beach villa and later come back to the water villa and they did manage to get us a room. Improving points: 1) when we came back to the water villa we noticed most of them were empty but they placed a couple right next door to us. If hotel isnt full a bit more of privacy will be appreciated 2) they offered a cinema by the beach twice a week. One day they cancelled because of the wind (totally understandable) but was looking fwd to the 2nd night and they cancelled of no reason so we missed it. They should keep the dates fixed so who is staying a week have a chance to experience everything.

Have spent an amazing week at the Six Senses Kanuhura. We have dived extensively all over the world and the diving and especially the diving crew are truly exceptional. Amy, Myriam, Rob, Elisa, Anais and the whole team are professional, friendly & certainly deliver on the 'luxury diving' concept. Our GEM Shifu did a really good job of making sure we experienced the best of the island and credit to JB for ensuring that the hotel is so well run with such happy and professional staff - especially Peter the hard working room service attendant.

In December, we spent ten wonderful days at the SIX Senses Kanuhura. Apart from the very beautiful island, we most appreciated that the staff was extremely attentive. Everybody, from the GEM, restaurants, Spa, dive center, to housekeeping cared for our guest experience. Also, the public areas like the restaurants, Spa and Gym are very tasteful and convey the right vibe. Food among all restaurants was delicious, but for our taste not enough plant-based options. I also enjoyed some of the most amazing massages I have ever experienced. Diving spots are close by and offer a variety to explore the astonishing underwater world. The only point where we had higher expectations was in respect to privacy, given the standard rooms for two people are quite close to the neighboring rooms. Overall, we had a fantastic time and we still indulge in the beautiful memories. Thanks a lot Six Senses Kanuhura!

What an outstanding place to spend our Silver Wedding Anniversary this was. Although I was slightly nervous as the Island had only just re-opened as a Six Senses resort (which also meant we were able to stay using a very generous opening offer through Mr & Mrs Smith), there was absolutely nothing that I could fault, and everything about this place and the people truly epitomised what a luxury escape is really should be. When we landed in the seaplane we were greeted on the Jetty by the Resort Manager Jean- Baptiste and other managers and staff. This is the same for every guest, and their presence was a constant throughout our entire stay, always checking on us, genuinely wanting to know we were happy, and if they could do any more for us. It was at this point that our shoes were taken off and placed into a bag, never to be used again until departure. Again, we weren't sure about this prior to landing in Kanahura, but it was just a part of why the Six Senses hotels are so special, and so "us". We like luxury, but we don't like glitz. Being able to spend our entire holiday barefoot, just couples throughout the holiday taking time to adapt to this philosophy, but eventually barefoot it was for everybody. On the jetty, we were introduced to our GM Saraa, and he then escorted us on a buggy tour to our room, showing us the resort and all its facilities on the way. The resort is not so large, and is actually the perfect Maldivian Island. You can walk around it in 30 minutes, and the entire perimeter is soft. beautiful white sand beach. Many of the Maldivian Islands are referred to as Robinson Crusoe-esque, but it could not be truer of this Island, where baby sharks (not at all dangerous) swim up and down the shore line, alongside many fish, the occasional ray, and an occasional sea turtle. We stayed in the room category Beach Villa with Pool on the sunrise side of the Island, and did not want for anything. From the room we could see straight out to sea with uninterrupted views to the crystal clear water over the white sand beach, and using the complementary snorkel and flippers provided by the hotel, it was easy to just casually snorkel out to the reef from just outside our room. There are also newly built beach retreats if you want to go large and more luxurious, but as a luxury resort, pretty much all accommodations are excellent. You are also given pedal bikes to cycle around the island which isn't compulsory because you can walk or get a buggy, but we really enjoyed this. The food in resort is incredible, and so so fresh (the salads and vegetables are grown on the island). Choose from International a la carte in the main restaurant, "The Market" where there are also twice weekly BBQ evenings and where you have your breakfast (amazing), Italian at the very popular Bottega, Casual food such as burgers, pizzas, skewers and salads at the Sip & Sand (which is also the main bar and very popular for lunch being situated at the main pool), or Tapas / Spanish Cuisine at The Point, which is also open for lunch and boasts incredible over the water views . This is also a newly built unique 2 storey circular building that offers a first floor bar, suspended circular swimming pool, and a sunset experience to remember forever (conveniently also just after Happy Hour). Just a word about breakfast - never before have we experienced such fresh food and such a variety. We recommend salad with goats cheese and cold meats / fresh fish that you can help yourself to (along with pretty much anything else you could wish for), a brain booster iced coffee (it works) and the most fragrant mango you will ever, ever have. Of course you can request anything to do with eggs to be freshly prepared and brought to the table, and for the sweet tooth, the pastries will not leave you wanting. During our stay we took advantage of the motor water sports on offer, twice renting Jet Skis. This is very costly, but you soon forgive the cost when your guide (for us the very knowledgeable and friendly Ibrahim) takes you out to sea and around neighbouring Islands to encounter the various schools of dolphins that live in the area. We met a couple of very friendly Bottlenose dolphins and then a group of what must have been over 100 spinner dolphins. This was such an amazing experience that we did it twice, and Ibrahim was happy to film and photograph our experience, magical.... We also decided to rent the speedboat plus the Sea Bob and Ibrahim and his colleague took us out to the reef where the sea turtles live. Again, this was a truly magical experience and although the Sea Bob took some getting used to, what we were able to see and do was an unforgettable and very safe experience, swimming with the turtles, and even stopping to swim with nurse sharks on the way back. The water sports centre offers all the very latest equipment, including hydro surfboards, paddle boards, hobby cats, and the guys there look after you so well. Although I appreciate the prices are high for non-complementary motor driven equipment, we mustn't forget that we are on an Island, far away from the mainland, and its not exactly easy to facilitate and service these activities. We didn't use the diving centre, but I understand from other guests that this is exemplary, and it is very easy to qualify for a Padi, which is done entirely in the sea, not partly in the pool like at so many other resorts. I could write more and more about our experiences at Six Senses Kanahura, but must leave at least some of the magic to your imagination. Did you know about the secluded Island where you are able to spend a few hours (or longer) and where you can enjoy a fabulous lunch at their beach BBQ restaurant Drift? We were invited there by the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and yet again, this provided one of those experiences we will always remember. I will end my review now, because I've already given more detail than I wanted to, because the magic is there for you to discover. I will part by saying we are planning a return trip already, hoping to return with our two adult kids. Its like the dream you want to revisit every night, and in our memories the Island and the amazing people that make these dreams reality will always remain.

Having stayed at Six Senses Laamu on two prior occasions, which we were very happy with, we were not disappointed with our stay at Kanuhura. As a family of four, we stayed for 7 nights in a two bedroom beach pool villa, which was very spacious both inside and outside. We especially appreciated the ample space outside with large decks, with seating and dining areas on both sides of the swimming pool, which was a good size in itself. This beach villa was ideal for us with two teenage daughters; we stayed in water villas at Laamu and needed two separate villas on both occasions. The food offering was excellent and the staff from all areas of the resort was friendly and Arshad, our GEM, provided a very attentive service throughout our stay at the resort. The island was also lovely and felt very exclusive and private as it did not feel crowded. The water and the beaches were pristine. We are big fans of the Six Senses brand and will most certainly return to Kanuhara on a future trip to Maldives.

This is a naturally beautiful island, and we were impressed with the eco-ethos as well as the friendly, helpful, and genuinely happy hosts (some like Arif and Riza have been on the island for 20 years, wow)! Our GEM Shifu met us with a smile and was delightful throughout. We stayed in beach villa 29 which was great for us coming from a wet and cold UK December, as the beach was a lure. We walked the circumference multiple times with babby black tip reef sharks playing in the shallows. Six Senses Kanuhura is made up of three islands and the Drift experience takes you by boat across the lagoon to the uninhabited Jehunuhura Island for honestly the best grilled fish and veg I’ve had. If that’s what desert islands are about, I’m staying! Another highlight was the care and attention to sustainability and wellness led by Bryce and filtering through everything. We met Jackie in the Earth Lab to tour the hydroponics and beautiful orchid gardens and the spa and yoga program led by Anupam and his team is impressive and includes a fun Alchemy Bar experience. We were lucky to snorkel with Afrah from Olive Ridley Project over by Kuredu. We spotted a dozen green turtles (along with thousands of colourful fish and a few sharks) and he shared information on one of them, a male called Kaela! As well as Drift, we really enjoyed meeting Chef Manu and his team for delicious Spanish tapas at The Point. Along with the beautiful villas and facilities, and mind-blowingly gorgeous powder-sand beach and turquoise shallows, hospitality really does start with people, and Bryce has set the tone for sincere and impeccable service throughout.

We had a wonderful week at the beginning of December - our third visit to Kanuhura, the first after the Six Senses re-brand - and it was even better than before. It's a lovely property - you arrive to a genuinely warm welcome after a 45 minute sea plane journey from Male - and within moments you feel at home. The team, from the very charismatic GM, Bryce, down, are all absolutely delightful and friendly and so happy to help in any way. They create a very special atmosphere that has you smiling all day... Tahir, the F&B director, runs an excellent catering and service staff - the food is absolutely delicious and varied and the chefs are more than happy to create something special if you fancy something off the menu. Every single one of the restaurant staff were exceptional but we must make special mention of Fariz [whose star turn is his unique rendition of London Bridge Is Falling Down!], Shifau, Zahid, and Adrian who makes the best tempura prawns! We were lucky enough to have one of the new beach villas [no 38, perfect location right opposite Drift island]. They are huge and beautifully equipped. The bed alone is worth a return visit! I regret to not have noted our villa attendant's name but hopefully someone will know and pass on our thanks for keeping it so nicely. The pool was gorgeous and there was plenty of established vegetation to ensure privacy without blocking the amazing view. Our category of accommodation entitled us to an in-villa BBQ which was great fun. Peter presided and was really interesting to talk to while he and his chef kept us very well fed. Likewise, another evening Puri came round to host a cocktail event in the villa and that too was a delightful experience - a lovely lady who is a credit to the team. We went to the spa twice and thoroughly enjoyed our treatments from Dawa and Winda - the first was so good we had to go back for more! Last but definitely not least was our GEM, Sameeh. He was an absolute pleasure - the perfect GEM, there when you needed something, and often there a moment or two before you even realised you needed something - 10 out of 10, thank you Sameeh. The weather wasn't particularly kind some of the time but the covered areas are plentiful and very comfortable. All-in-qll, we had an absolutely wonderful week and were very sad to leave. Our seaplane pilot did a special little turn at the jetty to make sure we could see everyone waving goodbye! Thank you to you all and already looking forward to coming back.....
