We absolutely loved our holiday on Amilla. It was a first class experience from beginning to end and we certainly didn’t want to leave. We are a family of 4, two girls aged 8 and 11 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a true 5 star experience that started from the minute you met the team at Male airport. In summary, we’d definitely recommend it and we’d love to go back one day if we can. The staff are amazing, all so warming, friendly and caring. The food is outstanding. The amenities are fantastic and it’s just a beautiful place to be. For those that want more detail: THE RESORT - The arrival at the resort was so warming with a team of people to welcome us and personalised buggy signs and refreshing cool drinks. Made us all feel very special. The resort itself was better than I had imagined. Amilla really have thought about the island and the different areas from the beautiful gardens where they grow their produce, to the tennis courts/football area, secret beach, spa etc. All zoned off nicely and gives you plenty to explore and do. Having our own bikes were great and we have a not so confident 11 yr old bike rider so there were no issues getting a alternative one with two wheels at the back. This made a huge difference for her and the girls could go off and cycle round themselves. ACCOMMODATION - we stayed in a Reef Water villa and wow what a beauty it was. There was ample room and for four of us it didn’t feel a squeeze at all. The girls were in their own beds in the living room. The deck area was generous and having the pool was great. But the big wow factor was looking at the reef. Not even going in, we could see fish swimming around at the bottom of our steps. My favourite thing was to sit every morning on the steps and watch them. A great place for snorkelling too but we didn’t manage much because the sea was quite choppy as we were in the monsoon season. SUSTAINABILITY - now here’s a resort that truly put sustainability at the heart of what they do. Everything from the room key, to the bathroom amenities to the straws etc have been though through with consideration to limit waste and it’s lovely to see this coming through - the care for the planet and the oceans. STAFF - many Maldivian staff but also other nationalities. Everyone here works with a smile, always someone to say hello to or have a chat with and they just make the biggest difference in making you feel looked after and relaxed. There’s clearly a positive culture and the staff here are a big asset to the resort. When you arrive you get a butler who’s your dedicated person to look after you and you communicate over WhatsApp. Our butler, Nappe, always made sure we were ok and checked in on what we needed day and night. And always on hand for anything over text and arranging stuff for us. And the general manager Mark looked after us and our girls so well. FOOD - really high quality with great produce, a great selection of restaurants but most importantly fantastic food. We never had a bad meal and we were thoroughly spoilt. Breakfast included a wide spread catering for European and Asian palettes. Lunch for the kids was free and a lovely bonus for us to not worry about feeding them when they are constantly hungry! Dinners were amazing with a choice of Italian, Japanese, Indian and European. They also did theme nights like Seafood night and Maldivian night which were great experiences and a good opportunity to change up the dinner routine. The Japanese was our favourite but it was pretty hard to pick one! The kids always had the option to eat off the kids menus or the main one and the kids menu also changed between restaurants so it gave them some variety. Food for the kids was also brilliant and they ate really well the whole holiday! SPA - we had massages in the spa and I also had my nails done. It was first class. Had the ‘couple’s massage’ room which was lovely. Really good therapists and a lovely space to relax. ACTIVITIES - Snorkelling is really great around the reef and reason we chose this resort is because it’s a UNESCO protected site. And I think this shows in what you can see around it. There’s plenty of trips to do - we went swimming with the Manta rays and that was amazing and on a Sandbank picnic to a isolated beach we had to ourselves for a few hours. TRANSFER - just wanted to call out the team that support to get us to the island and back to the airport for the international flights. They take are of everything from the moment you meet them- taking the stress of us with one of our bags that didn’t make it in the transit, and also on our departure, making sure they saw us through to check in etc. The experience goes all the way through and that was really brilliant to have for us, especially when you’re tired after all the travelling! KIDS CLUB - this is really well equipped and set up with a varied schedule to keep kids busy with a good range of activities. We didn’t use it much as our kids were just loving swimming in the main pool most of the time but when they did go they had loads of fun and they enjoyed being with the staff there. GYM - there’s a really good set up for using the gym if you’re keen with a cardio studio, and strength studio. We didn’t but we were really impressed with the outdoor Jungle gym. It was quite fun too but if you did it properly you can do a really good work out! All in all it was a truly magical holiday, we didn’t want or need anything more. Highly recommend Amilla if you’re looking for that personal touch and luxury escape.…
We stayed in one of the Treetop villas with our daughter. It was marvellous. From food, facilities, activities to kids club. Can't wait to return again. Lovely island, lovely staff. Especially our Katheeb Sam was always more than helpful with everything. Our daughter loved the little messages written with sand on our doorsteps every night. Spa has wonderful treatments.
I loved the whole experience I give the amilla resort 5 stars because the services were excellent the food was delicious thank you our butler nappe and mehidi and waiter nappe , the photographer sam took amazing photos and thank you for capturing this beauty in those incredible photos . The spa services were so relaxing and all staff was very friendly and the management was spectacular and next time I will visit with my whole family. Love faiza
Amilla Maldives is a stunning, natural resort with very spacious villas. I first visited the resort some years ago, but it has simply gotten better under the new Management team, led by Jason and Victoria. There is much attention to detail, and guests are made to feel like part of the island family. The service is impressive. The staff are very genuine and seem to love what they are doing. The Tree houses are stunning and blend in with the island nature, and you get a feeling of the jungle. The food options are one of the best. There is plenty of choice for everyone, and they cater for all dietary requirements with special menus for Vegetarians, Vegans, Gluten-free, Low Carb and even Keto. I've never seen menus like this on any other resort in the Maldives, and I have visited nearly 100. Jason and Victoria constantly look for new ideas to enhance the guest experience. A special mention to Hamdhi, my Island Host. Always available to help with anything I needed without being too intrusive. He made sure everything ran smoothly during my brief stay.…
Just back from Amilla where we ( my husband and I, our daughter and her BF)stayed in a 2-bedroomed lagoon villa for 2 weeks. I don’t often write reviews but this experience was unique and I’d like to highlight parts of this amazing holiday. My husband and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we informed the resort of this beforehand and thus benefited from champagne on arrival , a 3 course dinner on a secluded part of the resort and other advantages. This attention to detail and very personalized service was echoed throughout our stay and I thank our Katheeb Hamdi, Mark , and of course Jason and Victoria for their dedicated involvement in every part of our stay, a truly great team. Whilst we were there (where do I begin) we benefitted from the snorkelling, diving, jet skiing , wind surfing , cooking , sports, spa , sandbank party opportunities, fabulous restaurants and bars available and also went to visit a local island. More than this though we sponsored 2 coral reef frames . Alongside Zoe , the on-site Marine biologist , we collected broken off parts of coral and then tied them onto the frames. These two frames which we named were then placed in the nursery and we will receive monthly reports of their development. I’d like to also mention the resort’s commitment to inclusion and diversity for which they have just been certified, with wheelchair access to all activities. We were also really impressed with the sustainability efforts taking place on the island too. We can’t wait to return.…
We had a beautiful stay here for 8 days in late May and early June 2022. We stayed in one of the two 2BR over-water villas with its own pool - highly recommended! The accommodation and facilities overall were superb, food quality and variety were excellent, and staff were simply amazing. We were looked after at all times by the excellent Nappe, who ensure that we enjoyed the best of all things. We also would highly recommend the dive operation (Dive Butler Amilla), where the superb Sappe and Elena showed us some wonderful dive sites and helped all four of us earn our PADI Advanced Open Water qualification. And on our first full day at Amilla we were able to snorkel with 40+ huge and gorgeous manta rays swimming around us and within inches of us -- so beautiful, and absolutely unforgettable! Eight days was a good amount of time to spend at Amilla, definitely could have stayed longer, and we are very keen to go back. Go there for sure, you will absolutely love it!…
Our family of 3, 2 adults and 1 child (5 years old), just came back from Amilla and we're already planning our next trip! Amilla definitely lives up to his name as a luxury 5* resort. They make the travel/transfers to and from the resort seamless with representatives stationed at the airport; every step of the way, there is someone there to help you with your luggage and guide you along. This was super convenient especially if you're traveling with children. We spent 5 days there and stayed at both the lagoon overwater villa and the sunset overwater villa. We preferred the sunset villa - the lagoon villa was more spacious, but the sunset villa had a much better view and we liked the partially sheltered balcony and the addition of the hammock! The villas were cleaned at least twice a day so you always came back to a sand free room, fresh towels, and plenty of drinking water! Housekeeping also left little treats every night, which were a hit with our daughter. We were on the Dine All Inclusive (DAI) plan which included all restaurants and a huge variety of drinks (alcohol included). You also get 20% off at the spa and for excursions. But our favorite thing was the in villa dining once a day - after a session of snorkelling/water sports, being able to have our meals delivered into our villa was an amazing feature. Being on the DAI made things so much easier and the pricing is transparent so you never end up with any surprise charges on your bill. They also have free ice cream all day at the Chill'd cafe, our daughter loved this of course. The food was top notch and we enjoyed everything we tried, some honorable mentions were the variety at the breakfast buffet spread (mango chia seed pudding was our go-to every morning), the ceviche and carpaccio (everything we tried at Feeling Koi was amazing), the fregola sarda, and the homemade kombuchas! Murray also convinced us to try the Maldivian night buffet and it fun to experience a bit of the local culture, plus the food was great; our daughter gobbled down the local desserts within a few minutes! We were super lucky with the weather and only encountered rain overnight. The majority of our trip was sunny with clear skies. However, it does get pretty windy so water sports/snorkelling can be a difficult if you're not as comfortable in the water. There are a lot of mosquitos during this season, but the resort makes sure all the villas are stocked with mosquito repellent (just remember to spray before heading out!). Our katheeb (Buddy) was amazing and even hunted down some calamine lotion for me to help with the itching from the bites. There is an abundance of complimentary activities available in the resort, there is so much to do everyday we didn't even get to touch half of what is available which gives us an excuse to come back again (and for a longer duration next time!) Special thank you to Buddy, Mark, Murray, Ny (she was a hit with our daughter), the lacquer art uncle, and the caretaker at the kids club, I can't remember her name but she was from Ukraine (she was the reason our daughter looked forward to heading to the kids club everyday) for adding to our experience. Honestly, the most memorable thing about Amilla is definitely the people. Everyone greets you with a smile and were genuinely friendly and helpful. Jason and Victoria were great as well - we bumped into Jason when we were exploring the island and he personally took some time to show us around the glamping area and even shared some fun facts about the island. Victoria welcomed us when we first arrived onto the island and she greeted my daughter on a first name basis and never failed to remember her name through our entire trip, which was an amazing touch. The personable approach that Amilla takes is what will make us repeat visitors! Minor feedback from things that could be improved: - the beach club doesn't open until 11:30 but we were often by the beach after breakfast taking advantage of the water sports before the noon sun hit, so we unfortunately couldn't order any drinks while we hung out on the beach during that time - we were in the Maldives celebrating our wedding anniversary (which we notified the resort of before arriving) but the the wedding anniversary benefits i.e. 30 minutes additional spa time with any 60 minutes purchased, champagne, turndown service, etc weren't highlighted to us during our time there so we didn't get to benefit from them (I've only found out about it after reading through some of the reviews here) - the wifi! We tried to take advantage of the Amilla app for all our bookings but the wifi in the Lagoon overwater villa was much slower than that of the Sunset overwater villa (likely due to the proximity to the island) and took ages to load the app content. Luckily Buddy was always on call and more than willing to help us with all our bookings. However, the wifi while on the main part of the island was amazing and we never had any issues. Other than the minor things highlighted above, our trip was amazing and was the perfect, hassle free getaway. But beware, kids will fall in love with the resort so much that you will deal with some tears when heading home! Our daughter was crying once we reached home and asking us why our permanent home couldn't be the Maldives! Huge thank you to the entire team for making our family vacation a memorable one.…
Having just returned from a stay at Amilla our family ( 2 adults, 2 teens) is keen to go straight back. The resort is 5* with spacious and luxury accommodation. Our 2 bed beach villa could not have suited us better -and the outdoor terrace pool and beach was perfect. We then loved the marine life just outside our villa - we saw turtles, sharks, rays, and hundreds of fish just outside our door. The staff made the stay extra special- there seems to be a community atmosphere amongst the team and the staff are knowledgeable and keen to chat but in a non intrusive way - a balance hard to get right. Thank you to our Katheeb, Buddy for all the help during the stay. Food was outstanding- every restaurant we tried was excellent but Feeling Koi was our favourite. Diving was superb in the local area - thank you to Sappe for an uncanny ability to find all the marine life including manta rays. There are no shortage of activities on the island, from exploring on bikes, Maldivian cooking class ( Naf is an excellent chef and teacher!), luxurious spa, pool, snorkelling trips and exploring the gardens that now supply some of the hotel produce. Thank you to the Amilla team for an unforgettable stay!…
From arriving on Amilla to leaving you are subject to 5 star treatment. From welcoming staff, guided marine excursions, to stunning food and personalised katheeb (butler) service. At every moment staff greeted us with a smile and a warm “hello”. The food in every restaurant was world class !!! Especially the Japanese food in “feeling koi”. The wildlife on and around the island was stunning, we were lucky enough to see, 14 species of birds, 2 species of turtles, dolphins, sharks and manta rays, not to mention some of the most pristine coral I’ve ever seen. Sustainability on the island is taken extremely seriously and has been taken into consideration with amazing detail in every part of Amilla, from the de-salination, and island grown produce, to the glass bottled water and day to day items made from ocean bound plastic. We were incredibly pleased with our stay and didn’t want to leave. There was honestly nothing that could be improved upon. Well done Amilla team.…
