Amongst the mayhem and awesome craziness and sometimes complete quiet, there is a place to stay for a small fee with a lovely couple who are parents to a groovy son with a noisy bar. And if you stay you are taken care of and the more free they are on the day you are there, the more you can... More

Rooms are basic but clean, with air-conditioning. Staff here are lovely and very welcoming, we felt at home right away. Breakfast is a help yourself, toast, jam, tea and coffee. They also let us use the family kitchen to prepare our own food, which was much appreciated. Location is good, only 5-10 minute walk to most of the tourist destinations.... More

I stayed here for 5 nights. It was a really nice time. The family who runs the lodge is extremely friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean and the cheapest I could find, the location is great, the food is cheap and delicious and everybody seems to be quite relaxed and in a good mood. Definitely the ideal place to... More

Well, where do i start... everything in this place was dirty, broken or something else would be wrong. i understand this is a cheap hostel, but it looks like the room has never been cleaned, we found few cigarette butts around the window frame, dirty bed sheets with suspiciously looking stains, my bed had a very thin foam mattress on... We spent a couple of days here and we really felt at home. The family is very nice, helpful and our double room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast included is quiet simple (tea/coffee, butter/jam toasts) but it was sometimes cheered up by a locale dish like fried rice or mee goreng. The location is good in the city center,... Stayed two nights- extremely helpful staff (its family run)- rooms small but functional, shared bathroom. Wonderful breakfast cooked fresh, the owner loves to cook and this is evident in her authentic home fayre (fried garlic rice one morning, chinese style porridge the next) There is a really cool wee bar attached at the back but it was closed when we... We stayed at Gawing for 4 nights, and really enjoyed it. A family-run business, it really has an intimate, welcoming vibe. The guesthouse is definitely better value than any of the others that we checked out: the rooms were clean (though basic) and air-conditioned. Best of all, a homemade breakfast was included. All-in-all, a great place to stay.
