I stayed here a week. Large clean room with big shared bathroom and showers down the hall. Very cozy common room near reception where you could either keep to yourself and read, or meet other travellers and share experiences. Nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly, the guest house offers several tour options although I found them a bit pricey....ended up meeting another guest who had already hired an 'outside' guide so we shared the cost one day and two more days four of us shared costs. Terrific guide, good people, really great day trips! The guest house is well located to the waterfront, many restaurants, the old town, boat ferry across to the Fort, laundry, etc....great location. There is a small restaurant on the main floor that offers a 10% discount for guests. Lovely staff and another place where people tend to hook up and share experiences. The only downside was a hugely noisy disco both Tuesday and Thursday night...vehicles revving, people laughing and yelling, spine jarring beat until 3am on Thursday night.…
We liked this place. There is a wealth of information that the staff will share with you. Very clean place, nice showers. Restaurant and bar kind of overpriced but rooms quite reasonable. Great location.
I stayed here for a few nights. Overall, staffs were friendly and helpful. The room was fairly clean, I felt comfortable staying here. Noisy, yes, they stated in their website so it's fine by me. And actually glad they informed earlier so a big thank you to them. Also don't expect a lot. I'm all about going out, adventuring new places, eating and trying out new, delicious food and drinks. So, going back to my room when I finished all of my activities was good, had a nice, hot shower and slept. I don't care that much about the noise, but I do find they lack in not providing fridge and water refill. That's a real bummer, but complimentary tea and coffee throughout the stay. Loved their coffee sooo much, I forgot to ask where to buy it :( I would recommend staying here but please don't expect a lot. ALSO, throughout my stay, I often encounter this one guy who sat in the lounge/lobby. I'm trying my luck here so if any of the staff or the manager is reading my review, please do help me hahaha He always have a headphone on, likes to sit at the wooden stage?? I don't know what it's called, but it's facing the countertop that provided complimentary tea/coffee for the guests. Sometimes, I saw him on his phone lounging around at the lobby and sometimes he would scribble?? in a book or paper. But I often saw him with his headphones on, I think his hair is curly? Gosh pardon me if I got his hairstyle wrong, I can't look at him that much. Often times, when I got back to the hotel, he'd sit at the lobby. So throughout my stay, I always can't wait and expected to see him whenever I went back to my room. Always passed the lobby, looked at the usual place he would sit at, and found him sitting there minding his own business :) or not finding him sitting there at all :( TL:DR Hotel, good. I like it very much. Don't expect a lot, the hotel did made me feel comfortable and at home :) loved it. Do check out their website, the rooms section and the FAQ section. Read it. Also, often see this one guy, headphones with him either on his neck or on his ears, lounging at the hotel's lobby with his phone or scribbling. Still can't seem to forget him, silly me haha P.S. If you are one of the staff, or the manager reading this, and you identified the person as aforementioned, please do tell him that I found him attractive, and smile more, please. I don't know if he's still staying there, but I do hope he is alright. And a huge thank you for treating the guests well and allowing me to stay there, made my stay in Kuching memorable :)…
We stayed one night here in a triple room in August. The place was well located a short walk from the riverfront. The staff on reception were lovely, and they held our bags for us for a night even though we weren't staying again when we got back. Very good value for the price.
Great location in the middle of everything, waterfront, good food, carpenter street, tua pek kong temple. Firecrackers went off in the temple while we were checking out and the windows gave us front row views. We were in G8 for five nights. Room has lovely high ceiling, though that means waiting a while for the room to cool down. It took us a while to figure out a new battery was needed on the control to get the AC to work but afterwards it was OK. Clean room, everything smelt good including the beds which were comfortable. Showers work ok. The ground floor is undergoing remodelling so rates are lower. The trade off is interrupted power and some construction sounds in the day though it didn't start till 10am on the one day we stayed in. It was nice to have a generous sink counter and a luxury to have 2 sinks. Front office staff was helpful and offered us repellent and insect room spray when I approached them about mosquitoes in the room. Later I suggested that the ceiling gap be sealed so it should be addressed eventually. Because the room is also next to a local karaoke performance location, there was singing there every night we stayed till about 11pm - maybe it was due to the ongoing festival. We were offered a room change but sound insulation was similar on L2 and we were already happy in our room so we stayed where we were. There's a good and reasonable per kilo laundry service and plenty of tours that can be arranged after arrival.…
As I was coming back from a day trip from Bako National Park. Just checked out from my previous hotel, I needed a place to rest and get those sweating odors out while waiting for my late flight out. For the price of RM20 per bed- it an absolute choice. The rooms are fantastically maintained and well equipped with an adequate bathroom and some lovely amenities. They even have a communal area which was great as you have a range of books, games and a TV with movies ready for you to watch if you want some down time.
I got my phone stolen when I was on their rooftop bar. The place was empty, just my 2 friends and me and the staff. They told us they were closing, so we left for the 1st floor and they closed behind us. 30 minutes later I went back when I realized I had forgotten my phone there. It was already locked. I asked the next morning first hour to the staff, my phone was gone. They didn't do anything to help me. That's a shame cause the place was nice before that.
We booked a 3D2N tour to visit a longhouse in Batang Ai through Borneo Experiences at Singgahsana. It was absolutely amazing, and it was worth the struggle (and the money..) to stay more than one night. The Lodge is decent, with a nice common area and roof top bar.
A friend and I stayed in a twin room with shared bathroom at Singgahsana for 3 nights. We were very comfortable and happy here. The room and bathroom was very clean and there was a good spot to hang out. We enjoyed the unlimited free tea. We found staff to be helpful and friendly. Kuching is an amazing base for exploring Malaysian Borneo. Highly recommend staying here. The location of the hotel was very central. We used the free bikes one afternoon and enjoyed our ride.
We stayed here for a week during a 2mth tour of Borneo. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Double en-suite room was spotless. Aircon worked perfectly. Walking distance to everything. The free bikes were well-maintained. Owner was happy to share info about the area and local events. 1st floor lounge very relaxed. Rooftop bar had great music (though no gin during our stay!). Only concern was the WiFi which was very sporadic and really only fast in the 1st floor lounge area.
