Very cental location, the staff is totally friendly, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean, doors get locked at midnight so it isn't a party place, a nice spot is the green balcony, dorms are 22RM per person and night, toast breakfast is included and there is a water dispenser. I would recomend it to every backpacker!

There is no airconditioning and the temperatures are really high, especially if you're used to the northern European climate. There are some cats in the house, which is fine, but they get in the rooms too. The common room is one big table and some couches. The toilets are there (only toilets around) and the showers are outside on the... More

Looking for a budget lodge with a friendly host? Lucy Homestay is great. Place is cozy and clean. Surrounded by places with good food and enjoy the cool air in the evening at waterfront which is a stone's throw away.

Don't quite understand some of the more positive reviews on here. Whilst the common room is quite nice that's about where it ends, hmm where to start!!!!! The rules oh yes the rules be prepared for overload , the shoes I get as well as cleaning up after yrself but the curfew at 12 pm , lights out as well... More

Yes that one word will be enough to dissuade any backpacker but alas I'll continue... Checking into the homestay with a young guy, we weren't exactly welcomed. Shown to the dorm, it looked OK and so we booked two nights. There's a nice library and the decor is interesting, breakfast is good with 4 slices of toast, 2 cups of... More

Frankly speaking, the only reason to stay over here would be to meet fellow travellers, drinking your own beer (they have none) on a small balcony. But there are better places to do that in Australia place in Kota Kinabalu! When I arrived, the staff consisted of two guys constantly watching TV. They are not updated on local information, showed... More

Lucy has been running this place for over 20 years and makes you feel more like a guest than customer. Nothing fancy - shared bathrooms and no aircon, but also free wifi, a communal kitchen/living room and a cozy library. A curfew at midnight, so if you want to party, better make it extra late (as in: come back in... More

I stayed here with my boyfriend after it being suggested to us by a fellow traveler. Maybe it was because we were tired after traveling from Singapore that day but Lucy's just didn't do it for us. We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom and it cost 62ringgit. The room was off the kitchen and living area and... More

Lucy's became by base whilst traveling around Sabah. It's not a hostel, it's a homestay, so some rules have to be followed. There's a curfew time at 12am, so I don't think it's suitable for young people who just want to go out and get hammered till late. Staying at Lucy's is like staying at home. She's like a mum...
