Located on Jalan Magazine, centrally in the city of George Town, this historical site was famously known as Wembley Park, the name bestowed during the British rule. This propitious site was the prime venue of entertainment where theatrical troupes ranging from European and American operetta and vaudeville, Chinese opera inclusive of Javanese tonal performed for Penangites. Complementing the surroundings are colonial houses and old-fashioned shops. The Wembley's 415 comfortable guestrooms inclusive of Suites and Executive Rooms are exquisitely designed with batik-style motif, complement with luxurious amenities and complimentary WiFi access. Offering panoramic views of the north and south channels including the iconic Penang Bridge and the city of George Town, The Wembley's guestrooms and suites are well-appointed with modern facilities that are practical to both business and leisure travellers. Guests will appreciate the Hotel's convenient accessibility to major commercial and government offices, cultural and historical sites, quaint shops, shopping complexes, bazaars and a variety of popular local food fare. The famed Batu Feringghi beach is a mere 30 minutes' drive away whilst it takes only five minutes to get to the Penang Ferry Terminal!

Got a room facing main road, hotel soundproof wasn’t good. Noises from the vehicles on road can be heard loudly in the room. Cleanliness need improvement. Wasn’t a pleasant stay, suggest go for a slightly higher range option, Jen hotel or Lower, cititel express.

The hotel is still new and less people due to Covid. The receptionist was polite and serve guest with hospitality.. the room os a decent size. Breakfast was ala carte and you may order as many as you wish. Superb breakfast especially I love the fish congee. Char Koey Teow full with ingredients. The only set back was my room was warm and after 2nd feedback, the hotel move me to another room. Overall I am happy!

I stayed for 2 nights on account of business meetings at Komtar across the road. I chose Wembley over Jen / Shangri-La after having read the reviews. Mind you this is still during MCO so hotels are dishing out special rates. With low occupancy you can expect better attention. So for booking direct via their website I paid 193 net per nite with breakfast, served to the room. That’s brilliant especially when I started my day with web meeting in the room. Only bane is the wifi and the mobile signal thats not very stable. Room a tad small (Tokyo, central London size) but decors great. Another drawback is water pressure and you need to run the pipe for quite a bit (say 3 minutes) before the hot (tepid) water flows. I suspect the low occupancy has to do with this. Parkings a breeze and they issue a pass that you can use free for the duration of your stay. Staff is wonderfully courteous. Will stay again!

As a Penangite my family and I often take staycations within Penang just to relax and wind down. After spent much time at Batu Ferringhi area we thought would be fun to revisit the heart of Penang; Georgetown. We chose The Wembley because of its ideal location, at the centre of Georgetown, many of the attractions are within walking distance. Komtar, Gama and New lane for food. The initial experience wasn’t good as our check in was delayed to about 4pm and the room aircon was broken. However, the staffs were helpful and prompt to rectify the problem, by changing our room. After that, all were well. The size of the deluxe room and it’s toilet were good, clean and new. The bed was firm and comfortable. The tv reception could do some improvement though. The toilet amenities were more than adequate and complete. But the internet speed and reception was less than ideal. The breakfast wasn’t the greatest but was acceptable. The selection was ok but the taste was average. Some of the food were too cold for my liking. But the breakfast staffs were friendly, polite and helpful. Overall, considering the price and the pleasant experience we had, we are likely to go back and would recommend to our friends. The internet speed and tv reception could improve though.
