My partner and I stayed at the E&O for a week and were really impressed by the experience. We were after a quaint feel as opposed to the restort style hotels on Penang and the E&O was exactly that. The service from the staff was exceptional, they always greeted us with a smile and were always poilte and very helpful...

If you are looking for the colonial experience in Penang then the E&O is the place to stay. The hotel is fabulous, from the food to the amenities to the accomodation. We stayed in the Victory Annex which is the newly built wing of the hotel and it was lovely. They have not lost any of the old world charm...

We stayed in this hotel to experience some luxury and were not disappointed. The service was outstanding, location amazing and the rooms were so luxurious that we felt very spoilt. The breakfasts were superb with every option imaginable, and the gym and infinity pool proved so popular with my family that we probably saw less of Penang than we planned...

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times in the past 6 years and we really like it a lot. We are very fussy when it comes to hotels but we really like the E&O. This is a grand, historic hotel built by the same brothers who built the Raffles hotels in Singapore and Cambodia....

After a morning of touring historic and hot Georgetown, the E & O Hotel’s bar provided a wonderful “need a break” moment in a luxurious setting. We enjoyed ice cold beer while relaxing in comfortable club chairs.

The E&O is by far the most incredible hotel I've ever stayed at, from the beautiful decor, to the services and facilities, to the restaurants. I enjoyed every moment of this stay and it's a world above the other options in Penang. The rooms and views are breathtaking. I was there for work but leaving was difficult. I will definitely...

We were so looking forward to staying here after reading all the reviews but, after staying at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang the E&O came out a poor second in terms of service. The hotel is split into heritage wing and modern annexe and we definitely felt we were annexed from the original hotel. Whilst the surroundings and rooms are lovely...

Our family group stayed three nights at the E&O and really enjoyed it. It has a beautiful water view of the active Penang harbour, both from rooms and the level 6 horizon pool in the new wing. Our group had one room in the new wing and one in the heritage wing. Both were good - the new wing has...

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful 9 nights at this amazing hotel. We spent 8 nights here in 2015 and just had to come back. Everything about the E & O is perfect, from our room in the Victory Annex, to the exceptional staff, and the delicious food. The breakfasts, both at Sarkies and the Planters...

We have been here for 4 nights and only have another 3 left! I don't want to go home! From the moment we checked in I knew I had booked a fabulous hotel! The room has a balcony overlooking the sea! The bathroom is huge and I love the black and white tiles. The shower head is the best I've...

The Eastern & Oriental Hotel is the embodiment of both a special time and a special place. In many ways, it has also come to represent Penang itself; its story inextricably woven into the island's history, its traditions an indelible part of many a traveller's treasured memory, its name synonymous with the magical island once known as The Pearl Of the Orient. ... more   less
