This is a lovely heritage house that feels like a home. Like the other reviewers we had a very enjoyable stay in a beautifully decorated suite. Penang has a good choice of heritage accommodation but I think that Clove Hall has the edge if you're looking to combine relaxation and sight seeing. Unlike the others places that we considered Clove... More

This is an absolute gem , a beautiful boutique hotel in the most gorgeous setting. The owners Jo and Jim were wonderful hosts and gave me all the tips on where to go to eat and what to see during my stay. Their staff Erlyn ,Sherwin and Michael are all so helpful and always smiling! My wife & I stayed at Clove Hall in mid April. We had a wonderful 5 nights. Every guest is made to feel special and the small touches make such a difference when compared to staying in a large hotel. Jo and Jim were terrific hosts and the staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure we... More

Hotel overall: Gem of a boutique hotel with personal service. Lovely old mansion turned into a 6 bedroom boutique hotel. Hotel location: Good location because it was on a lovely quiet street but just over 20 minutes walk to the heart of Georgetown which could be a fair distance in stinking heat. But taxi ride is reasonably cheap. Hotel room:... More

We stayed 3 nights at Clove Hall, a charming colonial house located in a quiet secure residential neighbourhood. It was a short drive from there to the historical heart of Georgetown. We stayed in the Clove Suite, which, at 800 sq feet, was the largest of the 6 suites. It was on the ground floor, spacious and quiet, with a... More

We would like to apologise once again for the rather erratic wifi for the early part of your stay. This was unfortunately due to reasons beyond our control (internet in Malaysia is, generally speaking poor and at times non existant!) With regard to fridges in the rooms it is correct (as stated on our website) we do not have them,... More

My wife and I stayed at Clove Hall for seven nights in early April 2016 and absolutely fell in love with this beautiful residence. We stayed in the Saffron Suite, which overlooks the pool, and we simply didn't want to leave. This suite, like the other five rooms I imagine, is well maintained and we found the king size bed... This old world colonial style house is a true gem.Set in the suburbs, its walled gardens are surrounded by palms and spice trees. There is a lovely pool and seating area to chill out and relax. This is not a hotel as such but has several suites for hire.Loads of character very open plan tiled floors hard wood and tastefully decorated so... More

The house, the room, the decoration, the hosts, the staff... All charming! This is the place where you can relax after visiting Georgetown. With a glass of wine or beer in the beautiful garden. Everything is as it should be. We had a minor issue with the AC but that was solved quickly.
