Staying at this hotel is an experience. It is both impractical and fun and makes a statement. There is no designated parking, although they do give you a parking token. There is no reception as such and the entrance is up a locked stairway that is more reminiscent of a prison than a hotel. The room was adequate with integral toilet...

First the positives, location is as good as it gets and the design is a brilliant amalgamation of old and new. But that's about where it stops. I'm staying in the duplex room (B1) and there's no hot water and the noise coming from outside will keep you up all night (cars, bikes, people and basically sounds you would expect...

This facility is inadequate, impractical and overpriced. Entrance and exit is totally inconvenient and if you're planning late nights, TOTAL INSECURITY. If location is key then you have to be on foot. Coming or going with a car is a BIG problem and a deterrent. Noise from all possible avenues. Bare minimum amenities as expected of a backpacker's facility. Don't...

In Ipoh for a book launch at Sarong Paloh - the heritage hotel just a block away on the busy 10-11 Dec 2016 weekend. Took a chance with a recommendation that led on to another recommendation and stayed in this absolutely charming "studio apartment like room" with a great bird's eye view of Birch Clock Tower and the Masjid. Was...

If you're looking for a convenient base to explore the old town from, the Sekeping Kong Heng should be one of your serious considerations. It is located just above the perpetually crowded Thean Chun coffee shop (must try the satay and chicken prawn kway teow), just beside the seemingly hip 'plan b' restaurant and just opposite the famous Concubine lane....

The room is very raw and chic. Comes with a little pantry, stove, fridge, plates and utensils. Very lovely patios and balcony. Clean and decent. There is no carpark if you're driving, you need to buy scratch coupons and park by the road side. Since the accommodation is above one of the busiest coffee shops and shop lots, expect noise...

I tried out the Annexe - the "new" section of Sekeping Kong Heng - which is above the pre-war shophouses (beside the old furniture shop which is now Plan B restaurant). It's so charming. The room is literally in the attic - yet it was so cool and pleasant - you can see the roof tiles and the rafters as...

Fusion of new and old by creative people whom helped put Ipoh old town on the map and buzz. The retail area around hotel is also classy and at least less tacky in their merchandise than across the Street in panglima aka Concubine lane. Sekeping Hotel is just next to Kong Heng which food standards have dropped over the years(...

It's located just right behind Thean Chun Restaurant! We went a big round circling the shop lots to get there, and actually there's a pathway beside LOL A unique place for visiting, where you can find handmade goodies such as key chains, bags, clothings, accessories.. If you like vintage thingy or/and the beauty of trees, this is the right place...

What a gem of hotel! Never had expected that an old colonial shop house can be transformed to this amazing modern yet maintaining its old world charm. Location is fantastic as it just within the quarters of Ipoh's two most famous kopitiams. A fairly new tourist destination is Concubine Lane which is just a stone's throw away. Perfect for families...

“All the rooms look very similar so I don't think it matters. There are family rooms which are very open so don't forget the mosquito repellant. There isn't much noise so go for what you think suits your needs.”
