Beautiful resort on its own private island. Luxurious room, especially the spacious bathroom. Great view. Friendly, helpful staff. And great Asian dishes. But... but... but... the resort and its management are ill-prepared for these Covid times, and need to buck up to make guests feel safe and be safe. Breakfasts and dinners were buffet-style. While most hotels have quickly adapted to the new norm by providing assisted buffets (staff serving the dishes to guests) or set meals (to minimize contact of shared serving utensils), Vivanta Langkawi lets guests serve themselves. Sure they provide rubber gloves, but that does little if diners are not wearing face masks as they hover over the exposed food trays. The staff and management has to be strict in enforcing the SOPs, and gently remind guests to wear masks when going up to the buffet counters. I did see some improvement after talking to the GM but he needs to step up so the Vivanta and Malaysia can be a model to triumph safely during the pandemic. Another issue that marred our experience at the 5-star resort was trash and dishes scattered around the property. There clearly was not enough staff to cope with the reopening of the resort. A real shame the a Taj-owned property is not investing more in its people.

It was a great experience. Rebak Island resort is the only resort on Rebak Island separate from Langkawi. There is a ferry service making round trip each hour from Langkawi to Rebak. The resort is huge, several cottages make up the whole resort. The whole area is built in a grand manner keeping nature as its integral part. The swimming pool is centrally located near the elegant reception and dining area. The view from the swimming pool is outstanding having the sea on one side and high hills and trees on the other. The restaurant is splendid having delicious local and indian food. You can opt for many other activities like kayaking, hiking, tennis, squash etc. Entertainment is not an issue. The rooms/suites are grand. Wooden floor and roof, having spacious area for bathtub, washroom, luggage room etc. Our room was sea facing and from the balcony you can just feel the magnificence of the nature. This is a Taj Group Hotel so you will expect to find a touch of Indian Majestic Culture in the architecture and the services. The only set back is you cannot travel frequently to Langkawi so my advice would be to keep a couple of days separate for experiencing Rebak itself. Have a scintillating spa, or go kayaking of just relax with the nature. You'll find it all here.

Old hotel, Old furnitures, dusty, a bit scary. The location to port chenang is hidden, i almost lost to the small lane. The boat schedule back is too early as my flight is in the afternoon. I requested for towel but no one send to the room. The rest is just ok.
