2nd time stayed here and now the management charge parking facility to their guest from rm5-rm30. Even with buggy service which is service only until 11pm . They only hotel charge parking to their guest
This resort although undergoing renovation, which it needs, is on a beautiful wide clean beach, has wonderful pools and a separate one for adults, the staff are friendly and engaging and cannot do enough to help. Overall the food was good, they put on a fabulous Christmas dinner and post Christmas barbecue. Overall a very relaxing week
It's been 9 months since we last had the freedom to hit the beach, so the idea of an idyllic beach holiday with just lazing about with a mojito in hand was eagerly looked forward to. Tanjung Rhu Resort however has curtailed their F&B menu to a hand full of items and absolutely no cocktails. There was only wine and beer, although you could buy select bottles at the hotel. It wasn't just the adults who were disappointed. There was also no milk shakes, smoothies or even watermelon juice for a beach front hotel. If you are dining at the hotel, please note that most of their restaurants are closed. If you must eat there for lunch, then go for the nasi goreng or nasi lemak. Those were worth the price. The chicken sandwiches were sad - white bread with some chicken in mayo; no vegetables of any kind and it was one of the most expensive items on the menu. Even I make a more substantial sandwich. With people returning to the island and the fact that the hotel online booking claimed it was full, the lack of a better menu for a 5 star hotel is not acceptable. Rooms: We had the Damai Suites and they were spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were sizeable and the shower pressure a pleasure. However, please note that while I say its spacious, the hotel has a strict policy that it is only for 2 pax, although both the website and confirmation emails offered the option of an additional adult or child at a price. We had a child and we had to eventually upgrade to the Cahaya Suite (which is really big btw) after much issues about their mistake and extra charges. En Rossman and I eventually compromised on the extra charges but I hope the hotel has since updated their communications on this annoying and unnecessary misleading information. Once again, unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. Property: The last time I was at Tanjung Rhu was a good 20 years ago. Apart from the room which were good, most of the common areas looked tired. There are 2 pools which are well maintained but the restrooms at the family pool, which is shared with the Mandara Spa, was a little sad. Take note that the bar at the adult pool is closed so it takes a while for any drinks or snacks to arrive at the Sands Pool Bar. It is not all bad here, cause the beach is just as pristine as it was ages ago, so you will enjoy it sans the crowds that are congregating at Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah. Service: Everyone was helpful and tried their best to work within their limitations, so for service I can only say, good job to the staff. Management, however, really needs to look into what it means to be a 5 star hotel and get the hotel F&B back on track. Moving About: Get a car. Unless you like really long walks, there is nothing close by. A mere 5-8 minutes away by car however, brings you to a selection of eateries and there are some lovely places. Or driver further about 20-30 minutes for more F&B choices and the many duty free shops. Overall: For the reduced rate of RM 500 a room for 2 with breakfast, Tanjung Rhu is still a good bet only because it has the nicest beach in Langkawi and you are assured of physical distancing, but so long as you manage your expectations. However, anything more for the smallest suites and with the current lack of F&B, is not recommended. The sea here is also calmer as it is a bay but they do caution you to always watch out for jellyfish.…
It was my first time in this resort. I expect more than this. Incorrect music in the peacefully place on the beach. Broken things in the room. No trush in the coffe table. The worth part is the noisy sound of the atv in the beach. You cannot relax
Love the clean beach and quiet place. Enjoy the hospitality.. highly recommended since it was low season due to the COVID pandemic. Room was very well kept and nice.. the pool was clean and nice.. but the most amazing part was the Mandara Spa. Despite having to pay for the service, but there was a 20% discount from the resort, and the massage was superb and very relaxing.. Love it...
