Attentive service staffs- with good first impression when Ms Nur Azmira was so immediate in her email responses to my enquires which I booked 3 days before arrival from Trip.com. My package came with complimentary airport transfer, and Mr Annis waited for me patiently as my flight was delayed and while I run some errands in the airport. Had contact with Mr Hakimin a few times in the reception and each time he is patient and detailed in explanation. Look beyond the structure of the resort which is undergoing remodeling in stages. The ground and staff are complimenting factors. Walk to the far end of water sport centre and the right corner is line with local stalls. Another 8mins walk to the Tanjung rhu mangrove jetty which I booked SUP trips with h2ocean. The private beach with sunset views and the green lights from fishing boats are a view to marvel as I take time to slow my pace. Free complimentary drinks for 2 nights- I have my dinner on both nights at Saffron - great pizza / burger with beer. I have a wonderful stay as a solo female traveller.…
Me and my family checked in today at 10pm with very frustrating experience we ever had. Your front office staff was courteous enough and polite while the security staff was very rude and pain in the neck. We purposedly booked this resort to unwind and relax hoping that your claimed 5 star rating is as the same 5 star treatment we had in other hotels/resorts. However, your security staff has ruined everything. I personally felt discriminated since I only managed to rent an Avanza. You see, I had a very long day today with unpleasant treatment since morning..my flight got cancelled, so we have to purchased last minute lowsy ferry ride. We booked 2 vellfires, only one arrived. We have to search for other mpv..so this lowsy avanza was all that still available..I thought this resort staff will not judge customers arriving to their resort according to their ride..boy..how surprised I was with your staff's treatment. We paid for vallet but was asked to park by our own.. come on..what's the point of paying for vallet if we have to park it on our own?? What's more frustrating was the annoying security asking me to park away from the foyer..it was 10.15 pm.. there was about 7-8 feet spacing for other cars to pass.. I was just to park there for a while to check my wheelchaired bound father into his room..have some empathy.. and maybe some considerations..I guess it was all because of my rented Avanza that this resort's staff treated me as such.. thank you so much for the treatment.. To make matter even worse, my in-room dining until the time I wrote this still has not reach me..my wife n kids may have to sleep feeling hungry tonight. I filed a complaint to the front office..but none of them ever apologised or said anything about it..Well, I guessed this will be our only visit here and I will make sure none of our staff ever set their foot in this resort ever again. To others..please read through the recent reviews before thinking of coming here.…

+ the beach is indeed the best in Langkawi. You are lucky to have the whole beach to yourselves as no public allowed. Very private. + the room, Cahaya Suite is very large, with separate wardrobe, bathroom, small living room and bed + the pools are very big, relaxing, and clean. + their members for f&b are very friendly, great companies to talk about Langkawi and surround + food variety at morning breakfast are big, in buffet style. Food varies from local, intercontinental and western. + weekend buffet on Saturday at RM88/pax which is really affordable. The food is varies to fit guests from local to western, and live band make the buffet experience more fruitful. - the road to this resort are really bad, don't speed if you don't want to have a punctured tyres - the FO and other members are lack in hospitality in treating guests. They were biased during my visit, maybe they didn't expect much to get from someone coming with bikes - their landscape is not well maintained. The moment entered their resort compound, I worry if I mistaken into an abondoned resort instead - one block is under renovation, but since it directly can be seen from other active block, management should revise or maintained the middle garden so it can cover the ugliness of the renovation block. At night, I saw nobody stay at the balcony for those room with garden view. It's scary. - not dat much restaurants surrounding the resort. You need to go to Ayer Hitam area to find restaurants if you did not wish to spend money at resort. …
This was our third visit after 2018 and 2019. Understand that the resort was forced into receivership in late 2019 and that the property has undergone a management change ....in summary: our visit was still enjoyable overall (after all we came for beach and sun) but the physical product and appeal have degraded substantially when compared with prior visits. Our room was showing noticeable signs of wear/tear. Yet, it was clean and still comfortable. The Pros: - best beach ever. Picture book setting. - staff is generally friendly. - extensive landscaping. - nice pool. The Cons: - significant amount of deferred maintenance. Sadly portions of the resort have fallen into disrepair and are now locked off. - poor restaurant experience: very limited F&B lunch and dinner choice. Quality has dropped off substantially from prior visits. (breakfast still reasonable in terms of choice/quality). Bottom line. Worth the visit and recommended if you are coming for the beach and pool and know what to expect. However, physical product and offering have degraded strongly and cannot be compared with any of the branded upscale peers. Hopefully the resort will soon see the refresh and investment it needs to once again make it the all-round solid experience it used to be a few years back. …
this was my first trip since the pandemic and this hotel exceeded all my expectations. so much that i didnt leave the hotel area for two days, a rarity for me. my room was updated, the adult pool section was quiet and had amazing views, the food in the beach cafe where they served local style mee mamak and nasi goreng was delicious and authentic (im a malaysian so i know) i kayaked around the rocks in the beach and saw eagles flying. my favourite part of the hotel is the amazing views of the sunset which u can enjoy from the beach or even ur hotel room. one of my fav hotels so far my only criticism is the wooden plank floors in the public areas are in needs serious renovations and/or repairs
We have been coming to the Tanjung Rhu Resort for over 15 years. It is without doubt our favourite destination, but more importantly our favourite hotel that we are lucky enough to visit on a regular basis. Whilst the TRR has, without doubt, the very best beach on Langkawi, it’s the staff at this truly amazing hotel that will make your stay ‘Special’. I’m going to apologise to them all now, as it’s impossible to mention Everyone in a review, but, Everyone of the Team are very special, and will take great care of you throughout your stay. All the rooms are fabulous, but if you can get a suite that overlooks the beach/sea, it’s worth every penny. That view is sublime, and will stay with you forever. The Sunset most nights are stunningly beautiful. The two pools onsite are superb, and the best place to cool down after your hours on that fabulous beach. The sea will do the job equally well. Spoilt for choice…… The Saturday night BBQ 🍗 is great. A huge choice from the Chefs. delicious food always available. Other nights, the freshly made Pizzas from their wood fired oven are a must. A real favourite for us is the Fish & Chips that Chef cooks at the Rhu Deck/ Library. Best you will get anywhere. But also have the Noodle dish. Ask for ‘Mama Mia noodles’ they will know what you mean. For something Very Special, have a romantic dinner on the beach. We do each visit. Truly amazing evening. During the day, keeping hydrated is crucial, and you cant beat their Watermelon Juice to help cool down. Always freshly made. A real favourite. For the night time drink before supper, that draught Tiger and Guinness, plus the full range of Cocktails hits the spot every time. 🍸 Sightseeing is varied on this beautiful island. The Cable Car is a must visit. The views from the top level are truly breathtaking. A visit to Kuah, the capital well worthwhile. A Duty Free Island, so some great prices to be found. Take a private boat tour of the Mangroves rather than the ‘group’ version if you can. A great few hours cooling down on the water, with some wonderful scenery to add to the experience. My wife and I have already booked our second holiday back to this truly wonderful hotel later this year. From the management down to the team of staff that will take good care of you throughout your stay, this hotel has a huge ‘Heart’ that never stops beating. Our sincere thanks to each and every one of you for making our stay so special-always. We love you all. Cant wait to get back and see you again in November.…
The place badly needs an upgrading. Everything looks Abit rundown. Great view and has a lot of potential if upgraded. Their food menu wasn't that great either. Breakfast was good tho. The staff were also very friendly. Would reconsider this place if it gets a revamp.
Location is astonishing, long sand beach with a stunning bay in front of the resort. The building is old but well manteined, spaciuos rooms and super cool and long swimming pool where it is really possible to swim and enjoy the refreshing breeze coming from the sea. Staff is attentive and discrete, food is good and price are reasonable price All in all had a great week
We booked the day-rate at the Tanjung Rhu Hotel which, for RM200 per person, included the use of sunbeds and a towel, lunch in any of the restaurants, with two drinks included, and a ride on an ATV. The Asst Mgr assured us that the restaurant and ATV department would know we were coming. Neither did. It took whom we presumed to be the F&B Mgr to sort out our issues. There were no plant-based meals available at any of the dining outlets, but the Chef kindly made us spaghetti with a tomato-based sauce together with a basic garden salad each. My husband had two beers and I had two house white wines. At the end of lunch we were advised we had gone over the limit by RM12, (even though we hadn’t been given a limit, nor had any idea how much the basic spaghetti meal cost) and they insisted we paid the extra! We then headed to the ATV dept where the attendants knew nothing about us and seemed very dis-interested in giving us a ride. After about four minutes of telephone conversations, they finally fired up one ATV for the hotel attendant to ride and another one for us. When I explained that we had been told that our day-package included one each, we were advised that all the other ATVs were broken, so we would have to ride together, which was very uncomfortable. No-one suggested giving us back the amount allocated for the ride I didn’t have! Whilst COVID has wreaked havoc with the travel industry, and I can understand things not being fixed at this time, it was the pettiness of RM12 when we had paid RM400 for one day, that really annoyed us. We won’t be going back to the Tanjung Rhu. The beach however is spectacular at this hotel.…
