Up the slope of Zomba mountain Kuchawe offers a tranquil setting for relaxation and reflection. The staff are polite always eager to help...sometimes too eager but surely made my stay worthwhile. My new favourite place to relax and refresh. The views are amazing

The hotel is a representation of Zomba as an icon of greenery, freshness and nature. This was our fifth time to properly relax on the mountain. At last the hotel is building a gym as well as a swimming pool. This is perhaps the best hotel with Malawi dishes. After staying at

This is a beautiful lodge up in the mountains of Zomba Malawi. We were escorted on a lovely hike by waterfalls to a scenic point. Also treated to a delicious meal and great comfort. Even during the rainy season it was lovely to hike and the temperatures were very comfortable.

Thank you for the great review and more also choosing to enter 2019 with us at our Island in the sky. Your comments goes a long way in assisting us enhance guest value points in our offering. We have taken note of the need to now start providing for mosquito nets in our room which agreeably is now becoming a necessity due to the changing climate. Please be assured that this has been taken to heart and will be given the due attention. Otherwise, thank you once again for choosing to stay with us and we indeed look forward to hosting you again and the kids soonest.

What’s the altitude there?
Google: 6000 feet according to the Malawi Dept of Tourism - If you Google Zomba plateau height you'll find out all about it. "Zomba Plateau is unique. A great slab of a mountain rising to 6000ft (1800m), it has vast tracts of cedar, pine and cypress but elsewhere the vegetation is wild and mixed. The plateau top is criss-crossed by streams and there are tumbling waterfalls and still lakes. There are driveable tracks right round the top from which are views of such splendour that they were described in colonial times as "the best in the British Empire". Whether walking or driving, there is always something to see. Wildlife includes leopards, although sightings are rare. More in evidence are giant butterflies and, on the lower slopes, baboons. Birdlife includes the long-crested eagle and the augur buzzard. Accommodation on the plateau includes a luxury hotel, the famous Sunbird Ku Chawe, set at the very edge of the mountain; and a large camping site. Nearby the cosy Zomba Forest Lodge offers an alternative 'off the grid' stay. Fly-fishing for trout is possible in season and horse riding can be arranged."
