The Malawi Sun is a clean and comfortable hotel with large rooms (mine also had a balcony). Unfortunately free WiFi is only available in the lobby. You need to pay for WiFi in rooms. The reception in lobby was fine for emailing. If you get a corporate rate it's pretty good value by Malawi standards. Advertised walk in rates are... More

As previous reviews, mosquito net full of holes, no bathroom sink plug, shower door incomplete etc etc. Also early morning noise from building work going on at the hotel. Friendly reception staff, but thats about it.

Room was great, and in advance for a good rate. However there was a lot of building work going on in the hotel, and they would always start really early, starting from 05.30, so never got a good night sleep. Also, the housekeeping people came really early and disturbed you. Other than not having much sleep, the room was comfy... More

I walked over to the SUN Hotel last week to meet a friend at one of the restaurants/blue elephant take-away. I decided to check out the property and ended up booking the following night, to also save as I was paying more at Ryalls. Got a discount too. I loved the gardens and well maintained lawns, the wide verandas..to read... More

We stayed at the hotel due to our flight being cancelled. We arrived tired, stressed but the staff soon put us at easy. They where so helpful with our quieries and sorted any problems we had. Espically the hotel manager who drive us to the airport. The rooms where spacious, with a really comfy bed, clean. with good maintenance. All... More

I like the place, closeness as it is located in the CBD, close to the banks, food courts you can enjoy the sloppy view of Blantyre, the rooms are clean, air conditioned, the food in the hotel is always fresh

The name sounds great but its as like that when you visit. A bit of traditional set up in the rooms. Looks good but falls short of the expectation. Its good for the budget traveller.try it you may like it.

My room had seen better days in the past. The bed net had holes, and the mosquitos were smart enough to find them. The air conditioner dripped water. The tiles in the shower were falling out. Paint was peeling off the walls. The door lock mechanism had clearly been jimmied at some time, and wasn't totally repaired. Water pressure was... More

Location: You can walk (of course only during the day time) to the city's market and many nice restaurants. Blantyre city center. Room: Spacious rooms. My room had a small balcony which was good to enjoy the morning coffee. My room also had plenty of sunshine. They do have some water pressure issues, sometimes it is okay and next minute... More

I have stayed in other older hotels in Malawi, and they have this kind of time travel charm to them. This one has no charm to it whatsoever. It is simply an older very tired hotel where management is not even trying to run it well. Green pool, broken window mechanism in my room, fluctuating water pressure, bad food are... More
