We stayed at Chez Maggie during our family holidays this year. The place is just so great! Located at few meters from the sea, the beach offers you a nice place to walk or jog in the morning. You will enjoy seeing those fishermen' boats sailing at the first lights of the day. The swimming pool is just great! Both kids and adults were happy to share joyful moments of fun! The bungalows are just perfect! Clean and eco-friendly! Gary, the owner, was a great host and a very kind person. However, the service can be a bit improved. Probably, the staff was just resuming after the long closure of the tourism sector due to the pandemic ...? The area is quite nice in the evening, plenty choices of restaurants with affordable prices and excellent quality. Chez Maggie has also a good restaurant and, if you have time, don't forget to admire the beautiful sunset, seated on the benches in the backyard. The only recommendation I would make to Chez Maggie's team is, to expand/reorganise a bit the small parking lot. Thanks Gary and the team!…
We drove to Morandava to visit at the Baobab Avenue and the Tzingy. We stayed at Chez Meggi after long drive and continued with our trip. We found Morandava as a « stopping-point » and not a vacation place. The place is located on the beach, but you can’t see the sea… (see it from far) The Lodge on the outside is very nice. There are 3 types of rooms ( at least ), some of them need renovation in the bathroom, but beds are comptable and rooms are big and unique. The food was very good ( according to my husband ) - fish and more fish.. A lot of sea food in different shapes ( I am vegetarian - different story for me). Breakfast was simple - like any other place in that area. You will meet Gary, the owner of that place; which he can book for you a 3 hours boat ride to Bel Sur Mer.…
The best place to be in Morondava. The room very nice and clean. The service friendly and helpful. The hotel has a clean and spacious pool. Good breakfast and great natural juice. Unfortunately we only stayed one night but I will definitely be back for a longer period of time.
I travelled to Morondava with a friend and the lodge was in a very good location. It was in front of the beach and restaurants with good seafoods. The hosts were absolutely lovely and I very much appreciated their kindness even when it was a challenging period. I really enjoyed talking to them during my stay. The staff was all very kind as well and ready to help when needed. The trip to Baobab avenue was well organized and affordable as well.
Baholy and Gary are such kind hosts. The location of chez Maggie is very convenient: by the beach, as well as walking distance to local delicious restaurants. It is super safe even to walk at night. Gary and Baholy were great in organising a package trip and arranging for boat transfer to Belo sur Mer as well as escursions to kirindy forest and the magnificent Alle de Baobabs. It is a good place to stay to have a combined holiday as they can organise various packages and excursions with overnight stays in the various locations as well as cars and boat transports. As I needed the internet for work Gary and Baholy even organised it for me in advance to make sure I had access for the few days I was there. So it is possible to combine work and holidays! The staff is very kind and helpful, like the hosts!…
We had such a wonderful time here! The room was spacious and clean, the food delicious, and the atmosphere very chill. All of the staff we met were so accommodating and welcoming. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Chez Maggie for a lovely visit!
Cute, intimate, bunch of bungalows connected with stone epaths through a nicely landscaped beach jungle. Small pool, lots of privacy, excellent drinks and food (I recommend the fish carpaccio- even for breakfast!!), right on the beach. It's close to restaurants and shops around, though really, everywhere here is. I've stayed at one other place in Morondova, and had friends who stayed at a third- we all think Chez Maggie is the best place for the cost, and treats local folks, employees, and drivers the best. If I'm lucky enough to go back to Morondova, I hope Chez Maggie has available bungalows to book!
Chez Maggie is a convenient place to stay when in transit in Morondava. The partnership with the travel organizer Remote River Expedition makes it very smooth to book your trip as a “package” including travel, accommodation and visits to the Kirindy forest, the Baobas avenye etc. You eat well at the restaurant. When we saw pizza missing on the menu – they called a pizza chef who prepared tailor made pizzas the same evening – a real treat!
We really liked this place. We were given a perfect room overlooking the area and the staff did everything to make us comfortable. The rooms are clean, the staff are warm and friendly, the restaurant serves great food, the amenities and setting perfect and lovely Gary and his wife, hands on owners and good to talk to.
We got there after 9h drive and it felt like paradise. We were greeted with fresh juice and our bungalow was ready when we arrived. Bungalows were quite nice with everything we needed and hot water! The garden was lovely with nice sea view and comfort seatings. Barbecue was really good. WiFi could be better, it should be a easy fix. Also if you order a South African wine from the menu and you receive a cheap Chilean wine witch is pored out without you noticeing is'nt very nice. Although we liked the place very much.
