#3 of 22 Specialty lodging in Antsiranana (Diego Suarez)
Created in 2000 by Greg, a Windsurf passionate, what was once a simple surf camp became the reference in Madagascar for windsurf, kite and SUP. In a splending park of 5 hectares facing the lagoon, sheltered from the wind, nestled in the shade of the filaos trees, today the Sakalava Lodge offers services that will satisfy a demanding clientele in search of charm, authenticity and sharing. A human-sized ecolodge built of local materials; 100% solar powered, a restaurant offering refined cuisine based exclusively on fresh products, a friendly bar, a kitesurfing center equipped with Airush 2019 equipment, a team of experienced IKO instructors best riders of the country, a windsurfing and SUP center and always the same state of mind that from the first day contributed to the success of the lodge.

Once you get to Sakalava Lodge and meet Greg and his amazing family, you immediately feel they'll take care of you the best they can -and not just because they have to. Very well organized to be a handy lodge, anything you might want, Greg's Team -managed by the lovely Rachelle (Greg's wife)- will provide it to you. As for Greg, he is the best Advisor you might want. He leaves you free to decide whether you want him to arrange things for you, or if you just prefer to have his advice and go for yourself. Eco-friendly, super cool place, very delicious Malagasy food, smiling people taking great care of you.

I spent two weeks with my wife at Sakalava Lodge in order to Kite & Relax with my wife. Sakalava Lodge fullfilled that mission with excellence. In few words: ========== -The best location on the bay to stay: --Protected from the wind --close from the wave spot --high skilled & passionated kitesurf/windsurf instructors. -incredible food quality & quantity. Never two times the same dish in 2 weeks -A tiny detail was bothering my wife in the bungalow. A quick chat with the owner, problem was solved within 12h. The Owner Greg takes seriously any comment or issue reported to him. We can see he's in love with his place and he's looking to make it even better. -- I definitely advise you to visit Sakalava Bay and spend your stay here. it's may be a bit more expensive than the others we compared with. Here no jokes, no bad surprises. A successful stay from airport pick-up till the final bill !

We love staying here in the beach bungalow. Basic bungalow with all you need. Hot shower, big bed and a cosy seating in front of it. Lovely food prepped by the friendly staff. Greg is a helpful host and explains all options in the bay as well as the surroundings. Good kite conditions (bring small kites! Max 7m, ideal 4-5m) as wind is stronger than windguru tells you. Nice flat shallow water and waves breaking at the reef 200m from the coast. And still a secret spot with only 3-6 guys in the waves :) Remote location to get fully relaxed. Combine it with nosy be for snorkeling and diving and you have a great beach / ocean holiday

Greg is the owner and is always on hand to help and is very accommodating, he also speaks English. The Lodge has super friendly staff. Great food. The whole place is really relaxed, comfortable and clean. The hotel is also situated at the end of the beach where it seems it is more sheltered from the wind. We had a really great stay and I'd definitely go back.

Had the most amazing kite surf stay at Greg's Sakalava Lodge during the last two weeks (begin of April). Although it was not yet the wind season, I had 10 out of 12 dqys with excellent conditions for kiting. The Lodge's bungalows are designed in African style, simple, effective, with intelligent solutions in detail, and very comfortable. All you need for a brilliant stay in a windy place after a hard day at the seas is there - wind sheltered location of the lodge, huge trees protect from the sun, could even leave my kites pumped outside. Greg's service team doesn't leave you with an open need, everybody is really friendly - nearly like family and the kitchen does an excellent job french malagasy style. Would immediately go again if I could find the time ! Will go there again for sure.....
