Spacious but outdated rooms, not very clean. Well situated close to bars and restaurants. Poor breakfast, did not give me the appetite to have lunch not dinner there. This hotel needs a complete make-over. Wifi did not fucntion during my stay.
Can be an option to stay as the hotel street in the middle of the city, 30 minutes drive from the domestic airport Rooms, well a lot to mention but generally can be an option to stay for budget, and you have a good wifi speed
We stayed one night at the beginning of an expedition trip. The hotel is quaint, but in need of updates. Rooms were okay (although the layout was a bit strange). Service in the restaurant was very slow, but the food was not bad.
We didn't have much to compare this hotel to in the area, but it certainly has seen better days. The rooms are oddly placed (the first room we were shown had its one window staring directly into a common sitting patio. No thanks.) Our room (the third we were shown) was passable but there was no remote for the tv, no instructions for the safe, and one of the lamps above (my side of) the bed would stay on. Old, odd, and dark. The staff was fine and the adjacent restaurant ok as well. The odd thing as well was that there seemed to be nicer rooms that were often open, literally and occupant-wise, that felt as if they were being saved for a show piece or someone "special". I'm saying "average" but for the cost I could have put "poor". We came, we slept, we left.
My husband and I stayed at the hotel Colbert on 3 separate occasions while touring Madagascar and each time was the same. The rooms are old. Not very clean. The air conditioning doesn't work. The service was good and the bakery was excellent but the remainder of the food was pretty terrible. I think it has a very small amount of French colonial charm but I would not recommend staying more than once and not more than one night. Surely there are better hotels in Tana.
