Spacious but outdated rooms, not very clean. Well situated close to bars and restaurants. Poor breakfast, did not give me the appetite to have lunch not dinner there. This hotel needs a complete make-over. Wifi did not fucntion during my stay.

I am pleasantly surprised by the excellent Value for Award of this Pension. Despite affordable rates, I was able to enjoy a most comfortable stay. The convenient location, friendly staff, and comfort make this property a real gem to discover during your next trip. I recommend.

Le Colbert has a good location (being in the middle where most of the tourist hotels are) with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants around.

We had a room on the 2nd floor which was huge and had a definite "collonial days" flair (lots of dark wood etc.). We slept well in the large bed - the only drawback was that there was no mosquito net over the bed or on the windows, so we could not leave them open during the night (which was a pity since the room got quite hot). Our room also had air condition which worked really cooled the room down fast, and a mini bar with reasonable prices.

The hotel advertises free WiFi, but when we were there the connection was very bad and unstable (and one day it did not work at all), so don't count on the fact that you can surf the internet when you're there.

The bathroom had a tub and was large and sufficiently clean (though a bit dated).

The restaurant was ok - breakfast was average (but the fruit juice was great). We once had dinner there, but it was expensive and the food was not bad, but it tasted better in the smaller (more local) restaurants in the neighborhood.

The service staff was always friendly and tried to help when they could (even though there was a considerable language barrier, us speaking no French and tem speaking only very little English - but this worked out just fine).

Considering this was Madagascar, I'd say it is a good hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel Colbert on 3 separate occasions while touring Madagascar and each time was the same. The rooms are old. Not very clean. The air conditioning doesn't work. The service was good and the bakery was excellent but the remainder of the food was pretty terrible. I think it has a very small amount of French colonial charm but I would not recommend staying more than once and not more than one night. Surely there are better hotels in Tana.

Can be an option to stay as the hotel street in the middle of the city, 30 minutes drive from the domestic airport

Rooms, well a lot to mention but generally can be an option to stay for budget, and you have a good wifi speed

We stayed one night at the beginning of an expedition trip. The hotel is quaint, but in need of updates. Rooms were okay (although the layout was a bit strange). Service in the restaurant was very slow, but the food was not bad.

We didn't have much to compare this hotel to in the area, but it certainly has seen better days. The rooms are oddly placed (the first room we were shown had its one window staring directly into a common sitting patio. No thanks.) Our room (the third we were shown) was passable but there was no remote for the tv, no instructions for the safe, and one of the lamps above (my side of) the bed would stay on. Old, odd, and dark. The staff was fine and the adjacent restaurant ok as well. The odd thing as well was that there seemed to be nicer rooms that were often open, literally and occupant-wise, that felt as if they were being saved for a show piece or someone "special". I'm saying "average" but for the cost I could have put "poor". We came, we slept, we left.

#Bathroom not hygiene WC to dirty
#Hand shower not working at all couldn't take a shower during the day
#Service in the restaurant to slow, but the staff are very nice and friendly
#There not at all security check in the hotel people very easy to bring girl from outside and playing around making noise in the room and disturbing other room
# All the the staff in the hotel from, front of the house until back up of house are very good and friendly, but there are something have to fix regard the service for the guest Hotel.

The reception and entrance area was not looking promising, but staff was efficient and welcoming. The staircase capets are worn out, but the room on the first floor was a positive surprise. It was quite, despte being in the middle of town, good bed and clean. Furniture were not new, but absolutely OK

Restaurant service was prompt and friendly.

Good option for hotel just in the center with good value for money.
