High flyers, don't come here. For the rest of us, there were some nice things here, but I wouldn't want to stay for more than a night or two at most. Room: simple and clean, but that doesn't include the bathroom. When there was water (hot water being a different issue altogether), I felt okay about washing my hands there, but not about getting in that shower setup. Maybe I'm a wuss (or not filthy enough), Reception, etc.: Desk folks were nice 90%. Got put in a dark, cold, room one of the nights we were there. They were not interested in shifting us to something less dark, etc... Wifi: sometimes, when there was electricity. AC: see above Neighborhood: I found from a local, after a couple of days, that tourists get fleeced on the streets with some frequency. Night walking from eating dinner did make me nervous. Good idea: don't walk around the outside of the hotel under windows, since the panes might just fall out if someone decides to open it up. I don't know if there are options that are in the general price range that are truly different and better.…

Well located hotel with nice view and simple and clean rooms. The food was ok and the stuff friendly and welcoming. But be aware that you are might be sourrounded by obvious sextourism what unfortunately seems to be quite normal in Diego Suarez.

The reception and security staff were very friendly. All rooms are family rooms with 1 double bed and 1 single bed. They are comfortable with fans/AC and mosquito nets. We liked the pool and sea view room. It was also larger and 20,000Ar more per night. It's well located and a short tuk tuk ride can go one way to the local restaurants for c.500-1000Ar per person depending on distance and time. The food was ok and served typical Malagasy dishes. However my friend found a beetle in her soup. On our last night we had to downsize to a smaller family room facing the main road. But later that evening we saw that our old room (and the rooms next door) were occupied by 6 old men with ladies of the night bouncing between rooms. Unfortunately this is quite common to see in the north of Madagascar. I imagine it's typical of most hotels in the area. …

We arrived at the Kartiffa hotel as a couple looking for a get away and we found a simple and descent hotel with helpful and lively staff. The reception did the best to accommodate us as we came late at night. Rooms are simple but clean which is very important for us and obviously our host too. There a patio with a view into the bay and the greenery has added a touch of wildlife to this place. The pool is small in size but filled with sea water which I found extra ordinary. The WiFi works in the rooms at the best Malagasy internet can be offered. Food wise, we had a quick breakfast which was also descent. The guard was kind enough to get me some cigarettes somewhere out of the hotel, during my sleepless nights. We left our scooter in the hotel parking many times without any incident. All and all good experience here. With a bit of maintenance this would be a really great place. Thumbs up to the Kartiffa. We are already back after our Nosy be trip.…

I arrived at Kartiffa hot and sweaty from the drive to the airport, delighted to be by the sea with a beautiful view of the peninsula. This was not to last, however - my room was on the top floor which meant, due to a combination of a powercut and an electric water pump, no light, fan, or running water. Fine when the ambient temperature is below 35C, a nightmare otherwise. The pool must have been shot from quite a creative angle in the trip advisor advert as in reality it is barely large enough to drown a zebu, should you be in the mood do so. The food was fine, the coffee genuinely the worst I've tasted in my two years in madagascar. Thumbs down!

We stayed for 3 nights at hotel Kartiffa in Diego Suarez, and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were big, tidy and clean, with hot water and air conditioning. Great view from the terrace to the bay. Sadly water wasn't always running , but it's manageable if waiting a bit. We enjoyed the town and the great restaurants, and afterwords we left for Ramena and its amazing beach.

This lovely hotel was located near the main tourist street in Diego Suarez, close to restaurants, shops, street vendors, and a grocery store. The view from our room was beautiful - when the cars weren't parked in the driveway, you could see the bay from our window. Try to get an upper floor room, if you can. Staff were very friendly, and the room was clean. We really enjoyed using the pool after a day of sightseeing. Airport transfer was arranged, and free. The price was excellent! The only complaint we had was that breakfast was very very minimal and way overpriced. Despite that, we would highly recommend this hotel.
