What you see is not what you get. We booked one of the apartments, our goal was to stay for 1 year so first we agreed on 6 months. We arrived on a rainy season the hotel was closed at that time and nothing was operating. The pictures of the apartments or rooms you see online aren’t exactly what you’ll find. The apartments are so old inside and dirty, the floor is terrazzo and it looks very bad because it hasn’t been cleaned for years. All the Apartment's have issues cause they moved us to another one and it was the same! When it rains is the worst! We had water coming underneath the doors and the roof was leaking, the master bedroom had a leak that caused a lot of damage to our personal stuff. The toilet’s and showers had problems because the water pressure had been so high causing the leak and flooding and when fixed the water pressure was too low that we didn’t have enough water to shower. There’s snakes, millipedes, rats, lizards, ants and a-lot of mosquitoes coming in the apartment because the roof has holes everywhere, note that if you’re traveling for business the WiFi network is bad!. And When you try to explain or complain to the receptionist more than twice they become very upset and rude. When you go to the person claiming that she/he is the manager or the owner they sent you back to the reception. Make sure once you pay anything to have them give you a receipt or an invoice because later on when you want to leave they’ll say you never paid and so you have to provide any proof otherwise they’ll threaten you to get a lawyer and call the security on you. Be careful if you have small kids around the hotel entrance gate because one of the owners drives so carelessly and fast anytime he feels like it, that he had to warn us not to let our toddler walk inthe garden cause he might hit her with his vehicle. Also pay attention when you leave your personal items in-the apartment or rooms, we were robbed! Pay attention while on the pool too, do not leave your personal items unattended! The best thing about the hotel is Nature! The rest I wouldn’t recommend! Plus the people claiming they’re the owners likes to shout

Went to White Elephant for a late lunch and swimming, the rules are if you only swim you pay $5 but if you take meals you get to pay $3. So on this day we go have a meal but at the end we get an extra bill of $15 as opposed to $9 since we were three. The waiter acknowledged the mistake and referred us to the receptionist who couldn't even bulge nor listen instead she quickly punched the ETR machine. The management needs to work on the customer service and experience.

The hotel is away from the bustle of Malindi, with a lovely stretch of beach (with powder-fine soft sand and warm sea water) on its doorstep. There are extensive sculptures and other art dotted around the place, with lots of butterflies and dragonflies making it feel magical. Leisure facilities include a shaped pool, plus a shallower pool for the kids, and landscaped tropical gardens. The staff were always super helpful and sorted out any issues promptly. The food served in the restaurant was consistently good and overall was the best of all the local Italian restaurants in the vicinity. The main reason to dock marks is for the limited breakfast. Top tip- try to get the more luxurious deluxe rooms, they are worth the extra over the standard rooms.

Great food at great prices, with great views and an art gallery. if that wasn't enough, service was quick and friendly. Faith was so nice and helpful. We stayed longer than we planned to because it's the type of welcoming that makes you give excuses why you should stay.

The second you walk in you feel like you're in the most magical jungle! There is amazing art everywhere among the wild plants. Extremely peaceful! The owner and manager always try their best to keep you happy. Everyone is extremely kind. Definitely recommend visiting!

Hardly any people. Looks tired and pretty worn out. Restaurant with poor quality and poor service. Rooms tired, a/c in poor condition. The art part is just too much and looks more like a junk yard. They need to step up.

Stopped by here for a walkabout and a drink by the pools just off the beach. The property is quite a funky spectacle with numerous architectural styles. Ponds, sculpture and monkeys abound. Ongoing maintenance must be employing quite a few local fundis. Overall a wonderful and impressive experience. Art as expressed through sculpture and whimsy.

We visited this resort for summer holiday. White elephant is an unique place in Malindi: the resort is quiet and cosy and the architecture is done by an artist: the apartments and houses are built with respect of the already existed nature and is surrounded by art of the owner Armando. We stayed one week in the 3-bedroom house (each bedroom has a bathroom) with living room, kitchen, art on the wall and two trees in the house. The two pools are fine, the restaurant provides a nice lunch and diner. The breakfast needs to be improved, this is too simple. The masai working at the resort will provide you a nice bed with towels at the beach. Manager Hussein was very friendly and helpful the whole week. Every day we asked him for suggestions to see and do. We visited Hell's Kitchen: really impressive. We went to Safina Beach: good, but not really special. We went snorkeling for one day and spotted extraordinary fishes. The last day was the bomb: we started with a jungle tour in the forest with guide Hassan. Hassan learnt himself speaking Dutch in one year! After that we visited the ruins of Gede, walked trough the mangroves forests and visited an small island with really Kenyan boats. Hussein arranged all days for us, from beginning to end: driving in the tuk tuk of Joho to restaurant Baby Marrow until enjoying Swahili breakfast in our own house. Two points of improvement: breakfast in the restaurant & the equipment in the kitchen of the 3-bedroom house is a bit poor.

Armando who has true love for art & antiques has well decorated the interior of this beautiful resort. However the food at the restaurant was disappointing. I ordered mozzarella sticks for starters enjoying a sundowner drink overlooking the ocean. Unbelievable I got a stale French toast sliced in half with a thin slice of mozzarella cooked by Chef Edward. Awfully tasting!
