My wish to discover the Kenyan coast came true in the best way possible when I spent a fortnight with a friend at the KolaBeach Resort in Mambruj/Malindi. The spacious room was well furnished in African style and located in one of the various villas, surrounded by a well kept luxuriant park - a true delight to enjoy the many palm trees amids blossoming buganvilleas. Very good room and cleaning service and prime bar service at the pool. The property is directly located next to a wide white beach stretching for miles, where I could have undisturbed walks along the shore, something which seems to be a rarety in the area. The sea and the beach-beds area were clean and inviting. The personnel is kind, thoughtful and always at disposal for any need. Every meal was a highlight of superb food, mainly Italian with some well prepared local specialities. I appreciated the quietness and the refined style of the KolaBeach which allowed me to spend a great time and feel relaxed and secure all the time. The management and front desk proved to be up to any task, kindly and professionally. I definitely recommend this resort.

Its ideal location away from the road creates a peaceful atmosphere, the lodge has good food with alot of sea food varieties. The customer service is top notch and the waiter 'newton' makes you feel at home. The rooms are simple and clean, No TV in the rooms make the lodge more of a bonding and relaxing destination. A good lodge for those escaping from bustle and hustle of the city...

We stayed there over Christmas 2019 for 7 nights. The place itself is amazing however basic things such as AC's and Fridges need to be upgraded they are falling apart. The kitchen in the villas need more utensils as well. We had also paid for a chef to cook for us but we're really disappointed to find out he could barely cook any food.

We booked this as a wild card, my review is delayed because i think we stayed in Dec 2020. We knew nothing about the hotel or Mambrui and just decided to try it. It was quite a drive from our last hotel in Watamu, on the main road and also off, but when we arrived it was a pleasant hotel with an expansive clean beach. We had the whole cottage to ourselves so it was very comfortable. I wouldn't want to share but that's just me. It has a lot of Mediterranean coast vibe.It is best to stay there if you have your own car and can drive in and out. Otherwise you will be stuck. They provided minimal water and extras at premium price so we drove out to get lots of water and snacks for our children. I used their spa and the service was impeccable.

The service is elite, the staff assures comfort by being always available. The rooms are clean and beautiful. If you will stay at Kola beach you absolutely need to try the passion fruit juice, it is addicting . My room was along the seaside, I could hear the waves: so peaceful.

You can do so much better! The Location is horrible with no facilities in the area, except the limited offerings by the resort. Travel to town takes at least 30 mins. Rather consider the many properly ran establishments closer to Malindi.
Occupation levels were quite low, but despite that there were never more than one type juice available, no local beers on offer - all these are listed on the menus though? in fact, many items on the menus were not available. Considering any guest's limited options due to the resort's location, that is quite disappointing.
The servicing staff are excellent, but the senior members are in total hibernation until mealtimes when they appear only to rush off into the sunset once done.
After the revamp the setting and rest of the resort is truly beautiful, but that is where it ends. Rooms are basic and not what you would expect from a high end resort. This was our 2nd visit for the year to Malindi and will be back in December, but Kola Beach will never be on our "to visit" list ever again.
There are several better overall resorts available which will ensure good memories, not regrets about choosing the wrong venue.
The previous comments on the magnificent food does tend to make one think only Italian guests get the 5 star service and any others simply the basics.
Its very sad to see a resort looking like this with so much potential offering so little, but I guess that explains the very low accommodation levels experienced.

This is an amazing place..... i was there on the 20th to 23rd Morning,I must say that was an experience, The staff there are just the best...we were well taken care of...Imagine my Fiancee got a surprise Birthday Cake with a Dance!!! The food,Cottage,Beach,POOLS!! I Definitely have to go back for the evening breeze and the sun set. Had taken her for private birthday but spotted a place for a private wedding.

- The hotel is serene and perfect place if you want to get away from the usual rush of everyday life - Hotel is beautifully built, rooms were spacious, comfy (had Ac) and clean - Food was perfect if you enjoy sea food - Staff were welcoming and commendable - The manager was very welcoming and really made our stay perfect - perfect swimming pool for non-swimmers :) you ain't gone drown in 1.3m pool

Kola Beach is a nice resort north of Malindi. We must have booked at a slow time of year because we were the only guests for 2 of 3 nights. So they were kind enough to upgrade our room from a twin shared, to 2 single rooms. The pool and beach area are well taken care of. The food selections are all Italian as this is an Italian owned resort, so must love Italian food to stay here. It's about 30 minutes from the airport, about 20 minutes north of Malindi town. So it's really a place to get away, not a short jaunt into town. Everyone was helpful and friendly. They arranged an excursion to Hell's Kitchen and have a lovely gift shop. There is no wifi in the room, so you need to go to the reception or bar area by the pool.

Good morning Liz
For you and your boyfriend we can make a personalized birthday cake with a special dance of our staff wishing him a happy birthday. Then we can organize a romantic dinner under the stars on the pool side. We did one few days ago and you can see the pictures in our Facebook page.
