Lawford's is a traditional hotel & guests are under no illusion that they are in Africa...unlike more modern hotels that afford less atmosphere of this amazing country. The service is 1st class & the food is excellent. One can request lobster, prawns etc; for a special occasion & this will be happily provided & the table will be decked with... More

My stay at Lawfords was pleasant and peaceful. Visibly few guests in the hotel made it seem like it was a low season for vacationing. It was selfish of me, I must admit, the fewer guests made my stay a whole lot better. The rooms/suites were very spaciuos and had a sizable balcony, that was a big plus. Very close... More

I arrived in the evening and was received well. Despite a few hiccups, I was given a good explanation. The place was nice and the rooms were very spacious and warm. However, since the place had been closed down due to very unfortunate circumstances, not all the amenities were available. The food was lovely and the dining area awesome. The... More

unfriendly at check in and just sort of uninterested in their guests the rooms were huge and kind of a cool design, they just lacked any warmth the breakfast was depressing, instant coffee? in a country famous for coffee I paid USD55 for one night, I would not have wanted to pay more, it would not have been a value

The ambience was perfect and their staff are very friendly. The location makes you able to tour around the coastal town. We enjoyed walking to the beach and the beach front here is very clean. It is a place you go to when you would like to relax.

My only night at Lawford's was by accident or adventure, after I was detained by the Malindi Police under suspicion of carrying drugs. (I carry a homeopathic travel kit and also multi-vitamins.) Perhaps they were jumpy due to the war with Somalia, or perhaps they just wanted a bribe. Suffice it to say, that when I was released after being... More

The beach is covered with garbage, the buildings are falling down, a bottle of wine is several dollars more than the very same bottle at the hotel next door, the air conditioning gets turned off at midnight, and the toilets don't flush. The first few hours of our stay were wasted waiting for various repairmen to come fix everything in... More

At the gates we were informed very rudely that the hotel was not for people of my colour, how is it even right to get discriminated in my own country & I am positive that the watchmen would not say that if they had not been authorized to do so

After reading some of the negative feedback here, I'm wondering what these people want. This hotel was very nice, huge garden, two big pools, rooms were very nice as well with everything what you needed. Only air con was playing, but when you told them at the reception, it was repaired in short time. The restaurant was beautiful. I love... More
