I enjoyed my stay, quiet peaceful serene. Looking forward to come back soon. The staff were warm friendly and helpful. My kids had so much fun at the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. A great vacation spot to unwind and relax, if you enjoy some peace and quiet, you will love it here.

The place is very quiet and relaxed it's definitely a good choice. It's not directly on the road but a very short walk. You get tuk tuk and boda boda very easily from everywhere. It's only 7 mins walk to the marine National Park where you may walk on the beautiful white sand beaches, or have something to eat or take boat trips to different islands and have a great time.

Place os really beautiful and quiet. Very serene cleanliness is top notch. They have very sizeable rooms and big bathrooms. Also there are fans that help controlling the 32°c temperature. The pool is clean and accommodates all ages and experience levels. The staff is very friendly don't shy away from requesting assistance. High recommendations for the food as well and all this in an affordable package. The list goes on and on Close to the Marine Park Beach and other great sites (Vasco da gama, snake farm, first church, Pier, also not that far is the gede ruins) Low note. Sheets and towels need faster replacing. Would have loved to get some shower gels and lotions to reducing luggage. An AC would still be better than fans but I guess cost would go up as well. Also pick up and drop off from the airport would really be great.

The bathroom was leaking even after repair, fridge was not functional, there was no microwave in the house, the WiFi was non existent, the network genome is there and they will give you the password but there is no internet. The owner is very rude and will not talk to guests even if you have complaint.

I honestly don't understand all the positive reviews here. We had booked the place based on the great reviews on Tripadvisor/Booking/Google via Booking. We arrived by tuk-tuk at around 7pm when it was already dark. A young man opened the gate and we headed inside to where we thought the reception would be. It was all completely dark and we didn't find any other staff member, so we ended up going back to the front gate to ask the man. He apparently didn't speak English, and eventually walked us to the breakfast area where we waited for like half an hour while he tried to call Rachel. She then apparently told him to give us a key and bring us to a room, which he did. Effectively there was no one there who said hello and getting the room key felt like we are asking them to do us a favor. When I contacted the owner, he assured us that they knew we were coming, so it didn't sound like they just missed our booking. The room was not how it looks in the pictures. The "free toiletries" advertised in the room description on Booking.com are one (1) small bar of soap per room (!!). The towels had yellow spots and ants on them, the shower rag looked like it hasn't been changed in several weeks, and the shower itself didn't drain properly, so that you end up standing in a pool of soapy water after a minute. The safety deposit box is a cheap box hot-glued into the wardrobe, and the mosquito nets had holes that were so large that I decided to stitch them. There was also no toilet paper in the room we got. So I contacted the number associated with the property that was listed on Booking (via Whatsapp) to ask if we maybe received a room that wasn't ready yet. The owner replied that he is currently in Italy, but the room is ready and he will send someone to check. After a while again the doorman arrived, handed me the phone, and I explained the issues again to Rachel. After some time Rachel arrived and basically mocked us for being picky; something like: "You people who book via Booking always write bad reviews that the room is too dark etc" and stressed that she was actually going shopping but had to come to the property because of us. (We didn't ask anyone to come, we just wanted new towels, toilet paper, and to make sure that that was the correct room.) Then she left and after some time came back, told that the owner asked her to apologize and that we should cancel our booking on Booking.com and that we would then get a discount on the room price (didn't ask for that). At night it was pretty loud, mainly because of the other guests. There is a quiet ceiling fan and a very loud standing fan to cool you down. We also got a can of mosquito spray (to kill mosquitos, not a repellent I mean). The next morning we paid in cash (discount was applied) and we had breakfast. The man preparing the breakfast also didn't really speak English, but was very friendly. Over the rest of the stay we didn't really see any other staff members except for the doorman and the cook. There was no restaurant in the evening ("due to the curfew" according to the owner, even though that starts at 22:00), the reception was always closed, and we ended up giving the key to the cook when we left. Overall, I really don't recommend staying there. It was weird, awkward, dark, and not really clean. It was relatively cheap, and since we only slept there, didn't want to risk finding another accommodation for the second night. The territory looked taken care of, i.e. the pool was clean and the plants around it were lush. But the behavior of the staff, the "check-in process" and the room itself were ... weird. We were thoroughly disappointed by the overall experience.

What you see is not what you get, its underwhelming!! Paulo, the owner is some arrogant italian and a coward only communicating through staff. I happen to overpay by mistake and he refused to refund, even when I suggested diverting the excess fund on something else for exchange within the premise. They also don't have cancellation policy. The villa was generally dark, with leaking toilet, broken fridge, no microwave, no hot shower, no fresh water for cooking. This was a total let down experience! The local staff are really good especially Rachel but with such an attitude, I can never recommend. He is also has a camera just above the swimming pool, total invasion of clients' privacy without a surveillance warning! And I don't see what security warrants a camera directly on the pool. The rooms had bugs and the lounging materials are extremely old. No wifi despite indicating so.

We stayed at Marine Holiday House from 19 – 21 July 2021. At booking, we had been informed that we were required to pay 50% of the cost of our stay as deposit. We intended to stay 4 days and the total cost was KShs 48,000 which included KShs 10,000 per day for the house and KShs 2,000 per day for a chef. We paid 50% which was to cater for 2 days of the cost of the house and 2 days the cost of the chef. On arrival, after back and forth on various matters, we made the decision to stay for only 2 days which would be covered by the deposit paid. However, the owner insisted we pay the chef directly which we were willing to do. However, he refused to refund the deposit made for the chef. He therefore owes us our money. He also declined to speak directly to us, his customers, and only communicated to us through his staff. He is extremely rude. In addition, the fridge in our house had a broken door and could not keep things cold, the oven on the cooker does not work, the toilet in one of the rooms was leaking water on to the floor. The place promises access to WIFI. The WIFI is extremely weak and has no internet connection. The water in the taps is extremely salty and being a self catered stay, the owner does not provide clean water to facilitate cooking. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
