We attended the Presidential dinner held by the JSCA at this historic hotel. The 8 course was delicious. We had small simmered abalone, salted fish guts in yuzu citron (our first introduction), shrimp from the Shimanto river, sashimi including Noble scallop and pacific blue fin tuna. We also tasted Ise lobster with local sake. Must try.

We stayed one night at the hotel. We reserved a non-smoking twin room but was told that it was unavailable. We had no choice and agreed to give it a try, hoping that the ventilation could help. The smoking room had a strong smell. We went out to the well-known market area and food court to try the popular local...

I have visited this hotel about 4 years ago and have kept wonderful memory. So when we visit Kochi again this summer , 三翠園 is doubtless our first choice. However, I am a little disappointed with this stay. It seems that the hotel has not remodeled/ well-maintained for years. There are peeling wallpaper of the hallway, and worn carpet over...

The building itself has a long history. It originally belonged to the chief of Kochi town. Rooms are clean and old and could use some more maintenance. The hot springs are great. It is also close to shopping areas and sightseeing spots.

I recently visited a friend of mine in Kochi, and she suggested that I stay at Sansuien. Since I was able to get a great price at booking.com, I made the reservation. I was astonished when I arrived there. The room was huge, the view was breathtaking, and there were baths both in my room along with a traditional, communal...

Overall, the hotel was not spectacular but sufficient in all aspects. The exterior was a bit old and wear and tear was quite evident in the carpeting, but the rooms and food were fine. The futon was quite thin, but the pillows were very comfortable. The air-conditioning control could be better though, even with the fan speed at the lowest...
