It's about 5-10 mins walk from Kochi station or if you have many many luggages you can grab a taxi from the station and get there in 3 mins. The taxi fare is 570 to 580 yen depending on the car model. Room is spacious and clean. My only complain was that the entrance is located on the 2nd floor and to get there you have to climb up 2 flights of stairs. There is no lift on the ground level at all. The hotel staff offers to help you with your luggages but I would feel a bit bad to request them to help me carry up all my shopping bags.

I’d leave zero stars if I could. After finding Hotel Minatoya online for $74, we walked in to book a room for the night. Upon our arrival they said it would be $140 so I showed them the price online and they gave the go ahead. After parking, we went in to pay and they proceeded to decline us saying that with no reservation, it’s $140. I understand a reasonable fee for non-reservation bookings, but double the price is a little steep. Rude, unwelcoming, and taking advantage. Don’t bother with this place.

This hotel is conveniently situated for the station and a 15 min walk to the castle which is handy enough. We were only in Kochi for one night so didn't need anywhere special. Rooms are small but functional, small TV and bathroom is tiny, but again nothing you won't find across Japan. If you just want to crash for a night or 2 this is fine, if you're here longer I would look for a bit more comfort. Breakfast available, both are fine, I ordered the Japanese style, which wasn't to my tastes but that's me not the hotel!

The hotel is near KOCHI station with around 5 mins walk. The room is clean and tidy. Also, the bathing place at 2nd floor is a nice place to relax after a tired day. The breakfast with Japanese style is soso, can be better.

We do not normally stay in hotels opting for local apartments in most locations. However, in Kochi, we could not have done better than the Hotel Minatoya. It is so close to JR Station Kochi and the bus station and local trams. On booking we were not able to book a non-smoking room (not unusual for business hotels in Japan) but sent a request subsequent and this was met. Thank you! Check-in was straight forward and staff have enough English to understand each other (we are just sorry that our Japanese is much worse then their English). The room itself was well appointed and clean. We arranged breakfast at an additional and reasonable cost. We always choose the Japanese choice and were not disappointed. It was fresh and good. On two days we used the FREE cycles that are available - what an additional bonus. We also were happy to find washing machines and dryers in the basement/carpark for a very reasonable cost (washing JPY 200, drying JPY 100). The WIFI was excellent. We were walking Pilgrims on the 88 Temple Track. This was a wonderful base. Each evening after a long days walk there was the public bath (gender separate as usual) and sauna (only for men - sorry ladies) - clean hot and cold baths, an absolute delight At the entry to the hotel there is a place set out for pilgrims to clean their staff (Kongozue) and take care of it. Thank you for this. As independent travellers we are rarely this impressed with hotel service. At every step we felt cared for. Well done, Hotel Minatoya
