Because of fairly mixed reviews, I had expectations pretty low. The surprise is I found the hotel rather good both for services and decors. It's literally on the moot of the castle and has a fantastic view with light on at night, reflecting water and surrounding trees. True, the building is a bit tired but not so much so that comments talk about it. I'm pretty satisfied.
Yes the view from the lobby and wedding chapel are pretty but the hotel bedrooms are in dire need of updating. The AC barely works, the bed is very uncomfortable, no international channels on the TV. WiFi in the room is robust but elsewhere in the hotel it is intermittent at best. Breakfast restaurant is Ok, but coffee is weak. Staff want to be helpful. No small sundry shop but there are places walking distance.
It’s located next to a lake which is quite nice to look at from the window. Parking is complimentary. However it is not near to local eateries but the hotel has a restaurant. Door and counter staff are helpful.
It was a decent hotel to stay but it wasn't anything special. The river next to the hotel wasn't the most scenic thing I've seen in Kyushu or even Saga. The restaurant inside had decent quality food but again nothing really impressive for the price you pay. I actually found the staff very cold when you ask them them for help. The rooms were decent, they managed to squeeze a little bed into it since we had three people. The wifi in the room was fine but don't rely on the wifi in the lobby. I guess if I have to say something nice was the location of the hotel since it was pretty central in Saga. If you're not fussy about things and just need a decent place to stay, Otani does the job.
From parking lot to turning off the bed light pure pleasure of good service and ambience. Front desk, breakfast, cleaning - everything just great. Pleasant international bar - perhaps a bit pricy. And if you plan to get married they have a beautiful marriage parlour! Walking distance to wonderful balloon museum (a must!) the amazing castle reconstruction and the major shopping/restaurant area.
The hotel is located about 20-30 min away from the busiest street in Saga. We did not find any very good restaurants in the proximity, but there is a beer terrace where you can also have a small dinner located at the hotel. A plus as well: a 7eleven shop is 3 minutes away, so you can take a snack. The lake/pond near the hotel is perfect for an evening or morning walk. In the area you will also find insects that look like big ugly butterflies and are very, very loud, but the rooms obviously have good isolation, because you can sleep well. The rooms are not modern, a bit outdated, but still clean enough and well equipped (mini-bar, water heater, tea, coffee, bathroom utilities etc.). The breakfast was OK, Asian, but you can get a toast (very god one in fact) or eggs. A recommendation for the Saga area. It was a bit difficult to a get a receipt for the company - they had some troubles with the names and addresses.…
I have stayed here at least a dozen times. Why? Because the staff is attentive, the location is good and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Sure, the property has not been updated for a while but I found the rooms to be adequate, with good AC and amenities. Ok, the beds are equally uncomfortable as all other beds in Japan (just a style difference, thats all) and if you are over 6 feet tall watch your head in the shower... Would I go back? Yes, I am planning on it.
this looks like the nicest hotel in the area. the lobby and public grounds are very nice. It is close to the castle and gardens. But there are no restaurants or shops to walk to. The beds are not very comfortable, the chairs are worn. But the breakfast offers a nice variety.
