My family embarked on a 5 day, onsen hotel hopping and ended at Oncri for our final night. Of all the places we stayed, this place was definitely the most underwhelming in terms of food and hot spring. Note, the service and cleanliness were top notch. Food: The food was less intricate and not as thoughtful. Highlights: the sashimi and meat main. Cons: ayu was too salty to the point of being inedible (a shame cause it’s such a good fish), the seafood hotpot was flavorless, shrimp slightly overcooked. Restaurant is slightly understaffed. Hotspring: The spa was good, however, I really disliked the strong chlorine smell on the inside (and yea.. I understand it’s needed for the inside spa where the water is circulated, just kind of sad cause for it the smell was too overpowering). The outside pools is gorgeous and well designed. The biggest sticking point for me was the water quality, it lacked the heavy mineral quality that makes your skin feel extremely smooth inside and outside the water. The other places I stayed definitely outshone Oncri…
The hotel is nestled in the midst of the forests, so there are some pretty nice views looking out of the hotel, especially from the floor to ceiling glass windows at the reception area in the lobby. The Japanese style room was minimalistic but comfortable. Futon beddings will be laid out in the centre of the room by hotel staff during dinner. The public baths (both indoor and outdoor) were also nice and spacious with comfortable water temperatures in my opinion, warm without being too hot. We had a little trouble communicating with the hotel staff as most of them did not speak much English, though they were very helpful and patient nonetheless, and tried their best to assist however best they could. Overall a nice stay. Would have loved to spend more time at this hotel.
3rd night staying at Oncri, this is the best hotel in Ureshino, the facilities are awesome, sand bath is something you must try, the hot spring foot bath, the onsen with strong jacuzzi for massaging and healing, dinner and breakfast, so enjoyable! The hotel was far from Saga Station, they have car pick up scheduled at 14:30 and 15:30 but notice in advance a MUST!
My husband and I stayed in from 12-14 Oct and we were given a nice big japanese style room. Due to the lack of rooms available, we were unable to get the smoking room, hence we put in our request via email that if possible, try to assign us a non-smoking room. When we arrived and asked them, they told us they understood our request but unfortunatey they didn't have any non-smoking rm available but they tried their best to clean the room and sprayed deodorant to get rid of the smell. We were very appreciative of that and when we checked into the room, it was really clean and there was indeed no cigarette smell at all! Most of the hotel guests are local japanese and the place didnt feel not touristy at all. The hotel have at least 6 huge onsen pools, very well maintained and enjoyable! Love them loads. I also realized that I left my Gudetama soft toy in another hotel before I checked into this (which is like 1-2hr long ride away) and tried my luck by asking the counter staff to help communicate with the hotel staff from the last hotel to courier it over. Luckily we have a eng-jap app where I can communicate what we needed them to assist. Although she was equipped with little understanding of English, the lady at the counter shows extreme empathy and tried her best to get it couriered to the hotel just in time before we left japan! I was impressed by the efficiency and readiness to help! Kudos to the hotel staff 鹤田, we had a very pleasant stay and will be back if we ever visit saga again!…
This is more of a traditional Japanese hotel and spa catering for more of the locals. This means that your room will be and open space with great views I might add but very little furniture. Comes with a shower/bath and seperate toilet. bedding is just thin futons inside the coset which they come and set up for you in the evening. Being a western tough on the outside but soft inside when it cam to the beds I was not a fan. I had to put 3 futons onto of each other to get somewhat comfortable. Onsen was great and a\had a variety of different pools both inside and out. Overall a great try once thing.
Arrived with welcoming drink. The staff was polite and speaks English. The room is spacious facing Mountain View. There is a couch in front of the big window. You can enjoy the green scenery. As to the hot spring this is my first time. There are outdoor pool as well. I love it.
We loved the well-designed lobby, service is ok, but after entered into the Japanese style rooms, felt so disappointed, quiet old and old fashioned style, not match with the lobby. Recommend to re-designed the rooms!
Spent two nights stay at Oncri. Booked two Japanese room (tatami) and one regular room. Three of the room are facing east, if you are lucky you may able to see the sunrise sometimes. Email reply is relatively slow, it takes the hotel a week to reply me on my baby crib request and same floor arrangement. Hotel do provide valet parking service and also welcome drink when checking in. It’s a very cozy and kids friendly hotel. In the hotel lobby, there is kids playground and a souvenir store. Onsen is located on the second floor, peak hour is around 21:00-22:00 as it is closing at 00:00. Best time to enjoy some private time would be early in the morning. Some outdoor area when you get access to the onsen. During winter time, hotel will provide jacket to wear on the second floor. Love their pajamas, soft cotton texture, very typical agora style. …
Nice stay, tried sand spa for the first time which is 1000yen for 15mins. The only con is the staff here cannot speak English, only a Korean staff at reception could understand us, perhaps here is for locals.
Oncri is great hotel, friendly staffs, great services, will definitely come back again. I booked with Exp online, but booking was not received at the hotel, staffs is very helpful and upgraded us to the best room.
