Pretty typical of a 4 star hotel, the foyer is very lavish and staff particularly attentive. The rooms are still small, but better than usual for Japan standards and we got a really good rate with breakfast included. This may have been because there were renovations happening which didn't affect us at all but there was some scaffolding on the...

You might know Kumamoto is famous for their mascot Kumamon. Which is a super cute black bear. If you visit Kumamoto, you will be surrounded by him. New otani Hotel and some other hotels offer Limited edition Kumamon Theme room. The difference is, as advertised online, New Otani Hotel offer guess free Limited Edition Bath Towel and face towel. As...

Location directly at Shinkansen station is superb. Otherwise don't expect what you experienced in Tokyo or Osaka New Otani hotel. You will find an above average business hotel with above business hotel prices. It's practical, clean. (Period) Restaurants are OK and tried to be five star level but they aren't. At the end don't forget where are you are. Countryside...

Hotel is very close to the Kumamoto station, so convenient access from Fukuoka airport and connections to local trains. The front desk staff doesn't speak English, which made check-in a bit more challenging, but not a big issue. The lack of English could be a real problem if there was something out of the ordinary that needs conversation. Ended up...

I used this hotel for business trip. It is located just in front of Kumamoto station, so it is convenient for using JR railway. Kumamoto airport is a little bit far from this hotel, taking 1 hour by bus. The main downtown is 10-20 minutes by bus. Good breakfast and room. The Kumamon-featured room is popular.

Was greeted by several friendly staff even before we walked to the reception. Staff do not really speak English but checking in wasn't a problem. Rooms need an upgrade cos it feels like walking into a 90s grand hotel. But very clean. Our room is spacious and had a view of trains running through the station with mountains in the...

Our room was not grand, but very comfortable and clean and a decent size. The breakfast is ok. We did eat at the buffet restaurant in the evening which is popular, but much prefered the freshly cooked food in the restaurant which is downstairs, but this is more expensive.there is a lobby with snacks and enjoyed the coffee and cake,...

Pros - close to train station, clean sheets, staff were nice. Cons - everything else. The interiors very dated, don't think they have been updated for 30 years, depressing. Very cramped bathroom. It is well away from the action, and no good eating places in the station or close by. We are yet to try in house restaurants but buffet...

Stay for one night in Sep for a stopover place between Kumamoto and Aso. Within 5 mins walking distance to JR Kumamoto Station and City Tram & Bus station, best location. Stayed in a compact double room for two. Clean and nice housekeeping service. recommended.

decent hotel , seems to cater for japanese business travellers. zero facility. only stay here if you wanna catch JR early in the morning. won't say its good value for a budget traveler. there is a super market right in front and a tram stop that get you in town for 15 mins.
