We stayed 4 days 3 nights at Dormy Inn Kumamoto. The reason why I must say this is a well thought hotel because of their services they have for all their guests convenience. In this hotel, you can find: 1. Free laundry machine with 100yen 20min dryer (if you need to use a dryer), 4 each 2. Comics (Manga) corner while you are waiting for your laundry to be done 3. Two vending machines 4. Microwave machine 5. Onsen for men and women (separate) with indoor and outdoor hot spring 6. Free beer or drinks from 7-9pm daily 7. Free supper mini ramen from 9.30-11pm 8. Free taxi transfer to Kumamoto station from 7-11am (with advance booking needed) With the above services, as guests we were really spoiled with choices. The room was big with all the necessities amenities. Next to the hotel is the Sakuramachi Bus Terminal and shopping mall. Five minutes walk away is the Kumamoto Castle and the local tram. …
This hotel is so busy it looks more like a train interchange. There’s constantly people talking loudly at the lobby, slurping ramen, queuing for onsen and rushing to get coffee. Whilst the hotel is generous in giving freebies but it has turned the hotel from a place to rest to a place to grab freebies. The toilet cubicle in the room smells more awful than the public toilet. And the shower looks like a shamble. Don’t think I will stay here anymore.
Stayed here for 2 nights in Jan and thoroughly enjoyed the onsen bath on the 13/f. The outdoor onsen is great but a bit tad small. If many people arrive, it will be very crowded and the experience will be unpleasant. However, if you know the off peak time to go for your bath, you can have the whole onsen to yourself. A few things i need to commend this hotel for: 1-Kudos for giving a nice cold beer for free after the onsen bath. 2-Coffee and tea at the lobby is what most hotels in japan will need to follow Dormy Inn. It is such a great idea and most guests need not boil water and make coffee themselves in the room. 3-Free ramen supper at 9.30 is such a crowd favourite. Again, well done to Dormy to give us a nice treat. This again makes This hotel so different from others. 4-Onsite car parking using the car lifts is well organised, and fully supported by the attendant outside. Even in the cold, the attendants are so helpful. Lastly, although this is a small hotel, the service given by all staff is 5-star. Well done. We will definitely return to this hotel again if in town.…
A very tidy hotel in the centre of Kumamoto; just in front of Sakuramachi bus-station, so very convenient location. Must try spa (onsen). Very polite and helpful employees. Breakfast with a variety of tasty Japanese food (there is also a buffet with European food).
I wasn’t sure about this hotel though I knew it is a wide Chain tourist class hot spring hotel. I was rather surprised how new and spacious the room is. We have a room western and tatami type and the space was big for Japanese hotel. There is a nice Onsen and a free welcome drink (Includes beer). At 930pm they serve free ramen. Location is near shopping area and a short walk to Kumamoto castle. They charge 1200yen for parking 3pm to 11am so I suggest if you drive just leave Your car at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. In fact when we moved to Nagasaki and stayed in a international chain hotel we felt Dormy Inn was way better.
