I spent 2 nights for my fist visit in Kagoshima. The location was convinient for transportation and landmark visit in walking distance.Staffs are kind and hotel was clean. Furthermore, restaurant in the 1st fl offers 10% discount for hotel guests!

We had little idea of what to expect and were agreeably surprised by the high standards of this well located hotel. The rooms were large by Japanese standards, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Staff went out of their way to point us in the direction of the main attractions and restaurants. There is a tram stop outside the hotel which we used at the end of our stay to get back to the station; our taciturn taxi driver had taken a very long way round to take us to the hotel on our first day! The hotel sells daily tram passes. Breakfast was good and copious - 'though the evening meal was very average and slightly disappointing.

good location. Bus or tram transportation to sight-seeing are neaby. breakfast is semi-buffet with the four main dishes same every day. quite boring. room is not big despite it is delux. many restuarants nearby but unsure which one is good because the first night we picked a normal restuarant nearby but found the food is average while it overcharged us. we did not eat at Tenmonken in the remaining days.

The Richmond Hotel was absolutely perfect for my mid-range vacation. The location is right in the middle of Kagoshima's most exciting restaurant and bar district (but still quiet at night), and the building is new and modern. The staff was excellent, with great attention to detail. I especially loved their in-room guide translating all the buttons on the appliances. This was my third Japanese hotel with an in-room humidifier, and the first one I was actually able to use!
