A good hotel in a convenient location. I would have scored the hotel amenities and services higher except for the extortionate cover charge imposed by the hotel in the bar. I appreciate that many bars and restaurants apply a modest cover charge in Japan but this was an excessive charge being applied to hotel residents in a bar where drink prices are already inflated. For this reason I would not recommend this hotel.
The hotel is situated dead next to the Nara Metro station. Extremely convenient for business travellers to catch trains and move around. The rooms are quite nice and spacious compared to nearby hotels. Rooms are clean and housekeeping is excellent. I had been for a conference for 4 days and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Fujita Nara and Japanese hospitality. Recommended for anybody travelling to Nara.
We stayed in this hotel for a night on our trip to Japan, the main appeal was its location: easy walking distance from the train station as well as from local sights. Reception staff were polite and helpful, the room had plenty of space for us and it was comfortable, though it did look a little dated but everything worked as expected. It was an affordable no-frills stay, just what we wanted. I would definitely stay here again.
Good points : - Close to Nara Kintetsu station & Nara park - Clean & rather spacious rooms (for japanese standard), good room temperature with quiet AC. - Best bedding & pillow we had in Japan Not so good : - Really dated (but still functional) hotel - Breakfast food is average quality and pretty tasteless - Gloomy breakfast room (unless you are seated next to a window) & bar - Advertised "Tea lounge" does not really exist
If only had it been updated, refurbished. Then, it would surely get the fifth star --but, then it would deserve to charge the double of their current rates. Big hotel, western style but still with the hospitable Japanese attitude. Reasonably sizeable room and bathroom. Plenty of amenities. Wonderful location! Walking distance to the JR Station and the extremely well staffed and well informed Information Office. Smack in the middle of town and on the main pedestrian streets with rows of shops and restaurants and cafes on both sides. Walking distance to all the significant sites and a few steps from the Old Town. Courteous and professional staff.
