We stayed here as a couple, before kids, and had a great stay! We were very comfortable, the breakfast was really good and people were so friendly. We were walking distance to the deer park, and all other attractions we wanted to see!

Absolutely a wonderful hotel - probably the oldest and best hotel in town. I say this because the Emperor of Japan as visited it and the founding father of Philippines republic and Albert Einstein stayed here. The rooms are spacious, staff are super courteous and helpful; and the price is reasonable for what you get. I have stayed both in...

All of staffs always welcome you with full of hospitality. The main building has not changed anything when the hotel was built here. You are able to watch many historical things, such as Ms. Shoen Uemura's fantastic painting at the entrance. The dining room and the tea room are very cozy and tasty.

First of all, I have to say that the staff were all very courteous and helpful as is the Japanese way. We had afternoon tea on arrival and sat at a table overlooking the grounds which was lovely. It's a very grand wooden hotel with clearly lots of history attached to it. Very well situated close to the park so...

Stayed here because it is close to the large meeting center in Nara Park, and price was very reasonable. Get breakfast included in the price, other wise it is over $20 - choice of American Style or two Japanese styles. Breakfast is formal, no buffet. Had smallish single room that had a very comfortable bed, sliding glass door so could...

I stayed with my family. We enjoyed this very old fashioned hotel.( but wifi is available!!) The hotel is not so far from Kintetau Nara station. You can go to hotel both by taxi ir in foot. The hotel has a souvenir shop which offer Japanese Sake and cookies only available in the hotel .

We stayed here for originally 3 nights but extended our stay as we loved it so much. The hotel is very sympathetic to it's orginal form and design, it feels like stepping back 100 years! The exterior of the building is magnificent and all the rooms have a lovely olden feel, but with all the mod cons. Breakfast is a...

The hotel is coasting on its past and personages of note. Reception was poor. Service was abysmal and disdainful. Amenities were non-existent. Room was clean and adequate and that was all that can be said. Of all the hotels and ryokans we have stayed in Japan over the years this was the most dismal. If visitors to Japan stayed exclusively...

Nara turned out to be one of our favourite spots of our time in Japan. Staff were really helpful and willing to help. Location was spectacular and had a really cosy vibe about the hotel. All the facilities were great for the cost!

Of the 5 hotels we stayed in whilst touring Japan, this was by far the best. Friendly and efficient check in, we were taken to our room and were given information about the amenities. A pleasant 10 minute walk to tourist areas and of course the park with the deer. We found that eating and drinking in the hotel was...
