My 21 year old son and I stayed at Nipponia in Nara last night. Place was amazing. Peaceful, beautiful with world class accommodations. We stayed in 104 which has two beds. You have the best of a luxury hotel in a gem of Ryokan type small inn. The restaurant is also special and you should book in advance when booking hotel. The staff were gracious and inviting from beginning to end
A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were most accommodating, and several of them spoke excellent English so communication was no problem. One of my traveling companions has special dietary needs and the team went above and beyond to meet her expectation. The manager at the front desk answered all our questions and requests knowledgeably, and with patience. The rooms have all the modern comforts while reflecting the history of the place and local aesthetics. The hotel is located on a side street about 10 minutes from the train station (either Kintetsu or JR) so you’re walking distance to the main part of the town while being on the quieter side. Dinner was an 8 course dinner, excellent western cooking (French influence) with local ingredients. Would just be careful with the choice of room if traveling with elderlies or children. There are a few rooms with narrow steps to a second floor. Would recommend this property without hesitation. …
Everything about the Nipponia Hotel is perfect. The room I stayed was beautiful, comfortable, clean and quiet. The food was outstanding, the multiple course meals, were so elegant and delicious, pairing with amazing sake. I live in NY, travel quite often, and love good food, and their restaurant tasting menu is on the same level of michelan starred restaurants I have been to. The entire team was very nice and professional, they made everything possible for our maximum comfort and it worked. Nara is a charming place, with important temples and Nipponia made it even more special. This hotel is a great option to stay with family, friends or if you want a romantic scape.
Traveling with a 2 yr old, staff are really friendly, food is great. Traditional Japanese house with a touch of modern washroom and bedding, room is very clean. Less than 10 mins walk from Nara station.
Don’t miss here if you have a plan to visit Nara. The restaurant is chef’s counter style so that you can see how your dishes beautifully plated. The food presentation from the chef makes them even better. My words can’t express how much delicious they are. You definitely should try Japanese Sake “TOYOSAWA” made by the owner of the building. I also was impressed by all of the staff. We were warmly welcomed and had quite fun time during the lunch. Really hope to go back here again soon.
