It very close to Castle, so also to see night view beautiful Castle. There is fridge , electric pot and some green tea, coffee set. I recommend to get some food and drink on the way to hostel, becouse there is no convenience store... More

The Guest House Engakudou in Himeji can be succinctly described as reasonably priced and rustic. The toilets are ok, but the washing facilities are absolutely not up to date. Similarly, the shower is absolutely not up to date. A modernization of the sanitary facilities would be highly desirable. Comfort is a foreign word here, however the simple design of the... More

The guesthouse is run by two exceptionally friendly hosts who made me feel completely at home during my three days there. Chieko was great throughout, setting up my traditional futon style accommodation and teaching me basic Japanese as myself and other guests shared stories and cooked ramen. It was a very authentic experience and I would recommend it for anybody... More

For me this is the typical thing to do while visiting in Japan, staying in a traditional house. All those tatamis and few pieces of furniture made this stay one of the most lovely ones I had while visiting this beautiful country. Plus the room they gave us was huge! Someone said here in the comments: "The climb up the... More

We loved Guesthouse Engakudo ! Location was great, 5 mn walking from Himeji Castle and Koko-en garden. Staff was very nice, offered us some tea and had a chat with us. The twin room was Japanese traditional, 6 tatamis and personal futons, really comfortable, even with AC. The guesthouse is beautiful with really good vibrations ! Highly recommended if you... More

At first glance Engakudo packs a punch, situated close to the famous Himeji castle it is just a short taxi ride or 15 mins of walk away from the Shinkansen train station. The hostel is small and cosy with winding stairs and narrow hallways. The guest house is creatively furnished with japanese and rasta influences and is run by a... More

We stayed in this lovely guesthouse for one night. The guy managing it was extremly friendly and helpful. But especially the house itself made the stay an experience. We were told it is 104 years old and they furnished its small and narrow rooms in the most lovely and creative way. Old Japanese style meets bamboo matts in rasta colours.... More

This guesthouse is run by the nicest guys!! I was an idiot when I booked this place and accidentally booked hostel world's default three night instead of my intended one. I know, I'm an idiot. But upon arrival he was so nice about it and didn't even penalize me, he just requested I pay for my one night's stay. That... More

Engakudo was very lovely. The authentic Japanese-style guest house with a tatami-matt floors and sliding doors. The owner was really friendly with a great DVD collection. I wish I could've stayed another night just to feel so at home :)
