I tried to email and call internationally a few times, but not able to contact the hotel. My reservation is this coming Oct. They charged it in full in my credit card at the time of my reservation back in Jan 2020. I thought it was unusual to charge in full so advanced. Due to Covid 19 I need to cancel my trip, but I lost all the money they charged. I called the tourist office at Nikko city, complained about it, the person I spoke with said he would look into it, but no reply from him. I gave up. I guess this hotel is not legitimate ? Before you book, please check.
The friendliest welcome we have had anywhere! Charles and Yuma made us feel so at home in their lovely rural retreat. Charles provided a collection from the station and a welcome beer as well as great conversation and woke us with some fresh fruit in the morning. This place is a gem and We felt so relaxed here. Just a shame we only stayed one night as I would have loved to have had the chance to chew the fat with Charles for longer.
Our stay at the Teddy Bear House was awesome and we can't thank Charles and his wife enough for being such warm and generous hosts. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, waking up to the sound of river just outside the window every morning. The rooms are cozy, warm and tidy. The en-suite bathroom, although small, is very clean and practical. Towels are changed and cleaning is done daily. The place is located off the city's center, in the forest. There is a beautiful park with a waterfall just ten minutes up the hill - ideal for a morning stroll before breakfast. Speaking of breakfast - Charles is such a great cook! The breakfasts and dinners he made were delicious and very generous. On the last day, as we were leaving early in the morning, we opted for not having breakfast and Charles surprised us with a takeaway package of juices and fresh fruit - so considerate of his! There is a bus stop near the hotel to get you to the town and back but Charles was kind enough to give us lifts down to the centre and back. He also offered great itinerary advice that helped rationalize our plans. Everywhere we stayed in Japan, we enjoyed excellent service. However, the Teddy Bear House was not just about service - it is about warmth. Charles, if you're reading this - we will be staying at your hotel next time we're in Nikko! …
Stayed with my wife for 3 nights at Nikko Ted Bear and had the best service. From the breakfast to all the tips of places to go and transfers, Charles and his wife were awesome. We got a room with river view and although it is a small river, it was very relaxing wake up every day with the sound of nature right under our window. This guest house is not in the city. It is about 5 minutes from the train station. It made no difference to us since we used the transfer and everything in the city was pretty much dead after 8pm. Nikko is a town that sleep and wake up early.
We were very well looked after by Charles and his wife at the Nikko Teddy Bear house! From pick up from station, to cooking a delicious dinner on one night, to driving us to the first of our sights for the day of sightseeing, it was great. Big, nourishing breakfasts too. Rooms were clean and warm, with en suite facilities. Would definitely recommend it! Thanks!!
