All the environment was perfect, people in the town does not speak english, this is a place to be inmerse in traditional japanese culture. I felt in love of the room, it was kind of an apartment with a living room and a bath in the outdoors. Ryokan hotels gives you traditional outfit to be around the hotel. We went... More

This resort hotel is in a crowded stretch of hotels along the river. It is a twenty minute, easy walk to or from the train station. Alternatively, you can take the Onsen Loop Bus for JPY190/person to experience crowded seating and no place to put your baggage. Other than the hotels, there is not too much else in that specific... Traveled with family, 6 adults on our package tour in the middle of Apr 2014 along the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine route and landed at this hotel for a night. The Japanese style room is clean with Tatami flooring and is well prepared to receive its guest, from the fresh white towels, all toiletries, bedroom slippers, it was welcoming to us as... More

We were there for cherry blossom season in April. Nothing to do in the area. The town seemed to be closed down. The buffet breakfast/dinner was good with a lot of variety to choose from. The private onsen was great but they charged $30 for 45 minutes. We had a japanese style room that was spacious. The bed was a... More

My family with children went there during the early of Autumn. The hotel is well located with good river view. A bit costly but worth paying. Private onsen (with additional charge) is also a good choice. Foods are excellent. Game arcade made kids happy. Anyway, nothing to do much around the hotel.

Very quiet, very Japanese hotel. Perhaps a bit expensive but the meals were absolutely delicious; the breakfast buffet had everything you could wish for and more. I had a Japanese room and the beds were very comfortable. The yukattas, towels, everything they gave us was fresh and clean. The duvets were very warm and oh so soft. But the best... More

My room type in Ryokan-style was big. Could fit 2 adults+2children. Stuff in room is not new and a bit dusty but ok for me. I had a great experience outdoor onsen alone while snowing ^^ The buffet is good with many choices of selection(even though they don't fill the food frequently). Recommended Taraba crab leg, yakiniku beef and icecream.... More

the rooms are average but have some nice views. The food is however the tour de force. I've never seen such a well stocked buffet with a great selection of food. The hotel has hundreds of rooms and is very busy, but seems to retain some ryokan status. Staff seem nice, but you don't see much of them nor do... More

I generally expect high levels of chintz from big hotels in onsen towns, but was pleasantly surprised here. The rooms, lobby and bath were pretty much at the level you'd expect - clean, neat with nothing overly charming, but nothing that made me cringe. The meal we had was a buffet for both breakfast and dinner, with good quality food... More

Stayed two nights as part of a 2.5 week Japan trip in Nov '07. The cottage rooms (ones with western beds) are awful! Very worn, dusty, not clean. The curtains had mold on them - really! The rooms in the main building are more traditional and in better shape. The Nikko area is outstanding, but don't get a cottage room... More
