Excellent service yet coming at a very high price! Stayed in a western room with private Onsen. Welcome drinks were no less than champagne with caviar toasts!!! Diner was amazing. Chocolate store is a must visit.. And try!! 30' away by car from toshogu shrine.

Kanaya Hotel offers a perfect getaway for visitors to Nikko. The hotel offers spacious clean and comfortable rooms, large hot spring baths and delicious meals. The room was mostly Japanese style, but with some western touches. We had beds instead of futon for example. There was a large tatami mat room with a hori kotatsu (a low Japanese style table...

We had a fantastic experience at the Kanaya Kinugawa hotel. We went with our 3 year old daughter and stayed in the Deluxe Japanese room with Open Air Bath. The hotel is very nice and relaxing. A few minutes walk from Kinugawaonsen station. The staff are really nice. Unlike the typical Japanese hotel where they strictly follow rules, the staff...

A true experience of Japanese lifestyle in the beautiful Japanese rooms. Nice staff, and excellent service since some staff members speak English. The dinner as well was a unforgettable experience since they re-interpreted Japanese classic cuisine and we appreciated their creativity. We thought the hotel was uncomfortably distant from Nikko monuments, but actually we have added another experience to the...

I can't say enough good thing about this hotel. We were wowed since the first time we stepped in to the hotel. Service is beyond excellent, hotel is nicely designed and in top notch condition, amenities are more than you can use and food is delicious! We stayed at room 500, the Japanese style suite room with private onsen. The...

This hotel is all about you, as the guest. When I pulled up at the hotel lobby, the bell-boy unloaded my luggage and parked the car for me, right outside the lobby. You would be ushered to a lounge and be given hot towels and refreshments while they processed your documents. Next you would be led to your room when...

I spent 3 days with my family (kids: 7 & 8 years) in the Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel. I am a very spoiled customer but can say: Wow! What a great and deep experience. We felt welcomed from the very first minute. We loved the very friendly and attentative service be it in the restaurant or at the reception. The hotel...

It is long overdue review as we stayed in the Hotel last winter. Kanaya located just beside the Kinugawa river, and within 5 minutes walking distance from the Kinugawa Onsen Train Station. It is a Japanese westernised type of hotel where we have option to stay at Japanese or western style room. We have selected the Western Room as we...

We booked this hotel for four nights to see Nikko national Park and the UNESCO temples and shrines. It is 40 minutes by train and bus from the shrines and then another 40-50 minutes from Chuzenji Lake. If the hotel was world class nada bargain that would be one thing, but it is not. It's a nice hotel with excellent...

“Make sure you find out what room you have been allocated before you leave home - we were told our's would be allocated upon arrival - it was average and not one of the rooms shown on their website - we were told that this room was reserved for people who book on booking websites - choose another hotel would be my advice”
