I came in Nikko in Sep 2015 and stayed at Nikko Guesthouse Sumica for one night. The guesthouse is located near the station (just 1 min walk) which is very convenient to travelling around. This place is relatively small, but the host is friendly. I stayed at female dorm. There's 4 beds in one room. Every necessary things were included...

We stayed 1 night in this guesthouse. The rooms are Japanese-style, simple and clean, with comfortable futons. There are dormitories but we have not tried. The reception was great and very friendly, we had diner with other travelers and had a great evening singing together. I recommend greatly

Great location, just steps from both train stations and main bus stops of Nikko. Supermarket and laundromat nearby. Staff were enthusiastic and eager to provide travel and eating recommendation. Possible to leave luggage during the day. 3-beds dorm was very cramped (only one person can circulate at a time). Very cold at night in December (fortunately the blankets were quite...

Only stayed one night here but found the accommodation very welcoming. They were happy to help with sightseeing plans and restaurant tips. When I accidentally booked for the right day but the wrong month it could have been disastrous but the hotel staff quickly helped fix the issue by providing "emergency" accommodation in the lobby area. Something they apparently do...

The location was awesome (right by the train station), the lodgings were wonderful (very comfy, free wifi, and power sockets by the beds). However, the biggest and best thing about this location was the people! From the start, when we arrived in Nikko to check in and got given maps, directions and additional recommendations on locations to visit. Then playing...

Nice, clean Traditional Japanese guest house. The best thing is the owners and staff are so friendly. The location is the best, 3 minutes from Nikko main station. There is an open kitchen where you can make your own cup of tea, breakfast or dinner.

This is a charming little guesthouse in a good location right next to the station. We had a beautiful Japanese Style room, and the host was very helpful and friendly. Shared bathroom was clean. Would stay here again.

We really felt like at home here: everyone was very very kind and helpfull (they also gave us a lift with their car our to go to a place close to the guest house!).Our room was quite small but very clean with tradional tatami and futon, and with the bathroom very close to the room. Hope to come back again...

This cheap little hostel near Nikko's rail and bus stations offers small dorms and private rooms. It feels more like a homestay than a professional hostel: the rooms are cramped and there is only one shared shower and toilet. There is some street noise. The cheerful Japanese manager loves organising communal activities for guests.
