If you visit Japan don´t leave without staying in a traditional ryokan at least once. My husband and I were in Tokyo and I wanted to sleep in a ryokan so much. So when we went to Nikko, we didn't come back the same day, like many people do, but we slept there. We slept in Tsurukame Daikichi only for... More

Our room had a gorgeous hinoki (cypress) bathtub overlooking the rushing river below and the autumn colors across the bank. The kaiseki dinner and japanese breakfast were superb. Service was Japanese impeccable, with some English spoken. Toshogu shrine is right across the street, so the location could not be better. There are indoor and outdoor onsen on the top floor... The ryokan has a great location for sightseeing the main shrines & temples of Nikko as it is within 5 mins walk from either the main entrance of Toshogu shrine etc or Shinkyo Bridge. They provide a pick-up service from either JR Nikko station or Tobu Nikko station. You can either arrange with them beforehand (if you are sure of... More

We enjoyed our one night stay in this delightful ryokan overlooking a beautiful fast flowing river. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. We enjoyed our traditional dinner. However, if you are wedded to a western breakfast, it's best to skip theirs and find a place in town. The ryokan is ideally located for visiting the wonderful UNESCO heritage sites.... More

Tsurukame Daikichi was a great place to stay when staying in Nikko. The staff are great, the rooms are clean and pleasant and the food is brilliant. It is also close to all the main attractions too, Especially consider the deluxe rooms for extra privacy.

Well located, great Japanese style ryokan with sensational bathing facilities. Tsurukame Daikichi is right beside the stunning Shin-kyo bridge and opposite the Shrine complex located in the Nikko National Park. Breakfast and dinner are presented as works of art and very tasty in your own private dining room. All rooms and common areas are immaculately kept and staff are friendly.

I booked this ryokan as it was one of the only hotels in Nikko with availability for my last minute trip. I stayed 2 nights and was fortunate enough to get a deluxe room with a private onsen on the balcony, which was enclosed with large windows and shutters that can be opened or closed depending on how brave you... A lovely property just across the road to the famous temples' complex. We spoke zero Japanese, the embracing staff barely commands English , nevertheless it was as if we were the only guests... The specious rooms overlook a vibrant stream covered with greenery , while food ( all Japanese ) has been served with a smile, in a private room.... More

We spent 3 leisurely days in Nikko in the off season. This ryokan, is actually quite modern, with all the modern amenities and very clean. The japanese style rooms are big. Added bonuses all the rooms face the river , and its only 5 minutes walk from the world heritage shrines and temples. its about 2.5km from the train station.... More

We booked a 2 night stay at this ryokan to visit the shrines in Nikko and to experience Japanese style hospitality. Most guests at the hotel seemed to be Japanese. Parking is available by the stream, at the back of the hotel. We were greeted and provided with some tea and pickles while we checked in. We were then shown... More
