The hotel gives great value. I found this hotel for around $40-50/night. If I can get it around that price again, I would book again. Location is right next to the water. It's a beautiful walk down to Minato Mirai and a short walk to China Town and the Chukagai Station. Room was a step up from the cheap business hotels. At least there's space to open up your luggage and enough space to stretch. It's an older building, but the bathroom was renovated. Service is overall friendly on the surface. I asked for a room with a view and was given a room that was facing a wall. I guess next time I'll ask a room with the worst views to get a good one?

My wife and I had a one night stay before boarding Princess Cruises ship, Diamond Princess, in April 2019 and we had a wonderful stay. Our room was on the 6th floor and we had an outstanding view of the bay area, including the night time view of the Ferris Wheel at night, a great light show. Our room was small but very clean and had great wifi. It has a good sized bathroom also and 2 single beds (not sure if they have doubles or queens in this hotel). If you are looking for a night in a no frills hotel that is in a great position, not far away from Chinatown and is right across the road from beautiful gardens, then this one is for you. McDonalds for a morning coffee is just below this hotel also. Thanks to all of the very couteous and professional staff at the Star Hotel, Yokohama!!

We stayed here based on trip advisor recommendations and were not disappointed. We took the limousine bus from the airport to the Hotel Grand. The Star Hotel is about half a block down and turn to your right. The entrance is on a side street. If you pass McDonalds you have gone too far. The room with two beds is very small but we knew that was how hotels in Japan were. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. We faced the street but the room was reasonably quiet. We thought this was a comfortable place at a decent price. We walked to the pier and didn’t need a taxi

The Star Hotel is located close to Chinatown and the Motomachi (upscale shopping street) in Yokohama. It is also close to the ship terminal. It is not close to Yokohama station (45 minute walk), although the station can be easily reached by the subway (Minato Mirai line). The airport bus from Haneda and Narita stop at the Hotel New Grand, about a block away (it might also be called Yamashita Koen station; koen means park) Other interesting things to do in the area - the Mega DonQuixote (awesome grocery store) In other words, the Star Hotel gets bonus points for location ! We took a twin room and there was plenty of room to store our luggage. The room had a mini fridge and hot water pot; tea and coffee packets are provided in the room. There are a few amenities such as combs, razors, toothbrushes, while facial cottons and sponges are at the front desk. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash are the Shiseido brand. The room and bathroom are reasonably modern (including the awesome toilet with bidet features) Basically, a decent hotel in a land of expensive, small hotel rooms, which means a good rating for a hotel. What takes this to the next level was customer service - I had used a towel for the pillow since my hair was wet before going to bed. After cleaning the next day, the maid had thoughtfully placed an additional clean towel next to my pillow. That is AWESOME customer service, going above and beyond !!! I was remiss in not noting this on the "letter to the manager" survey.

A nice hotel opposite the Hikawa Maru mooring and the Yamashita gardens, close to Chinatown, the Motomachi Chukkagai underground station and the international cruise ship terminal. There were many restaurants in the vicinity giving us a wide choice of food styles. We booked a corner room which was larger than other rooms, however this did cost more than the standard room. Our room was clean and comfortable and gave us great views over Yokohama, the harbour and the gardens. Staff were friendly and efficient with reasonable English skills. We would recommend this hotel to people staying in Yokohama.
