This lovely guesthouse had very accommodating and serviced hosts, they helped with suggestions about what to see and do and were happy to stop for a chat. The guesthouse had 3 private onsens bath, two big you had to book (one indoor and one outdoor), but during our stay that wasn't a problem at all. We enjoyed our Japanese style room which had plenty of space. And there was a free shuttlebus service to 3 different dinner restaurants, which all made the stay feel even more luxurious.

A small very well run authentic Japanese inn.
The hosts spoke good English and went out of their to help and provide advice on restaurants, buses and sight seeing.
The highlights were the private onsens with mineral springs both indoor and outdoor.
Rooms basic but clean with great forest views.
Fantastic location short walk to the bus stops and local restaurants.
We really enjoyed the true Japanese experience and the local hospitality.

My friend and I planned to stay here for two days and then rent a few other places as we made our way around Hakone. However after looking at other “Similar” rentals we quickly realized that this place is unparalleled and chose to stay here for our whole vacation. Even on the weekend when the place was more full we were always able to get into the onsen when we wanted to. The host was completely accommodating to everything we needed and the public transportation in this region is so easy to use that we didn’t need to base ourselves in other locations to visit them. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

This traditional style guest house was fantastic!. The owner and her staff were fantastic from the start, displaying welcoming, kind, and attentive hospitality, we even had a lovely welcome from their Sausage dog. The owner was very helpful, helping us with a variety of things from luggage forwarding, advising on local transport, helping us reserve a table at a local restaurant, and even arranging, pick up and return transport to and from the restaurant. The guest house itself was very clean and the room which we had, was in a traditional style and it had its on toilet and sink area.
The guest house also has its own indoor and outdoor hot spring bath available for private use, which also added to the experience of being there. Would throughly recommend this guesthouse and would love to go back.

This place is truly wonderful ! We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2023 . The owners went out of their way to make our stay memorable.
The accommodation gives you a real sense of a complete Japanese experience . We used both Onsen , inside and out and they were both fantastic. Our room was true Japanese style with futon beds looking out onto the adjoining woodland .
The hotel is situated right on the bus routes from both Gora and Hakone Yumoto making it ideal for exploring the local area . They also offer free taxis to the local restaurants , which are wonderful.
We had a fantastic time in Japan and our stay at Fuji Hakone Guest House certainly contributed to it .

Such kind, attentive, welcoming hosts (including dog!) - unfortunately we were only booked for a one night stay, so could not enjoy longer, but loved our time staying in this traditional guest house. Very clean, with comfortable futon beds, and luxuriant hot spring baths, all on a friendly budget, and with good amenities nearby. Hosts, who have great English, helped with reserving a table at a local restaurant and generally making us feel very welcome. Arigato!

In all of Japan's many isles in the great pacific, there lie many tales of mystical wonders that are waiting to be discovered by humble travelers and familiar locals alike. This unassuming and wholesome guesthouse is one of them. When arriving among the group, you will be transported through the evergreen branches and into the welcoming arms of this family run establishment. With traditional garments for walking its huddled hallways, you will fit right in with the traditional japanese onsen experience. The rooms are quiet and well-maintained with its history, and it's amenities are well suited for any traveler. The hot springs provide an unforgettable experience. You will not only find what you are looking for in a place to stay the night, but something really incredible is waiting for you!

One of my favorite places to stay in Japan was the Fuji Hakone Guest House. It is a place that genuinely feels like a home away from home. The rooms were beautiful, and sleeping on the futons was like sleeping on a cloud. Bathing in the onsen (tattoo-friendly) relieves all tension and stress in the muscles, which leaves your whole body relaxed. There is also a piano in the main room with various music books available to play. My friends and I had fun with the piano since I am a pianist. They also have the sweetest dog named Light who comes out for cuddles. I highly recommend this place for anyone who travels to Japan.

My friend and I chose to stay here for a couple of nights, but we kept adding on more nights because we weren’t ready to leave!
The two private onsens are easy to reserve and they are perfect! The property is cozy and makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. There is plenty of nature around the property and many good bars and restaurants in waking distance.
The owners are super helpful and are always available for questions or to add on more nights to your stay! I hope to make it back here again one day.

Hi Amy, The Outdoor hot spring we booked for an hour for 2 people costs 1,350 yen per person for 1 hour per group. Payments in cash. The onsen we had was outside and private. My wife is heavily covered and I have a few Tatts and it was no issue at all, quite the opposite. Everyone at the Fuji-Hakone Guest house is fantastic and we can’t wait to get back there :) Enjoy!!

Sorry this is rather late. I have tattoos and can confirm that there is a private indoor onsen for you to use alone or with a friend. If you want to use the public onsen outside it will depend on who the other guests are .... The family who run the guest house are lovely so I'm sure they will advise you. I was on a package tour so cannot comment on the bus etc.
