The staff are so friendly, an option of indoor or outdoor onsen to unwind, with a traditional yukata provided and the best night's sleep for a long time, I have been before and I hope to come again as it is so relaxing

My mother and I spent one night here earlier this week. We were initially going to stay in a hotel, but ended up cancelling our hotel reservation—opting for a guesthouse instead. Our experience at the Fuji-Hakone guest house couldn't have been better. From the moment we arrived at the property (roughly a 40 minute, scenic bus ride from Odawara train station) we were welcomed with kindness and genuine hospitality. Mrs Masami Takahashi and her family were absolutely lovely. As we only had one day in Hakone - make sure you purchase a Hakone Freepass @ Odawara Station — mom and I were expertly advised on the best way to make the most of our time in the region. Our room was comfortable, the common areas (shower, kitchen, living room, bathrooms, and AMAZING hot spa / volcanic sulphur bath) were spotless, and the other groups staying at the Guest House were personable. Overall a beautiful experience in one of Japan's most interesting regions, in a well-maintained guesthouse run by a lovely family. 10/10 would recommend!

The Fuji-Hakone guest house is a true treasure. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Some highlights: - the private onsen (inside and out) comes straight from the volcano and was so peaceful and healing. It was perfect after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. - the hosts were so kind and so helpful. They also have a very sweet and very cute dog! - the Japanese style beds were extremely comfortable. - it was a great location for sightseeing Hakone. We climbed Mt. Kintoki and got an absolutely beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. We also did the pirate ship tour, rope way, and cable car — all included in the Hakone Free Pass and well worth it. The Fuji-Hakone Guest house was really well located to do all of this and easy to access by bus (we came via train from Tokyo). - it was close to some great restaurants — we had terrific soba and udon at Irori-chaya. All said, it was the perfect place to stay and we are so glad we came. If we ever are lucky enough to come back to Japan we will come here for sure!

This traditional style guest house was fantastic!. The owner and her staff were fantastic from the start, displaying welcoming, kind, and attentive hospitality, we even had a lovely welcome from their Sausage dog. The owner was very helpful, helping us with a variety of things from luggage forwarding, advising on local transport, helping us reserve a table at a local restaurant, and even arranging, pick up and return transport to and from the restaurant. The guest house itself was very clean and the room which we had, was in a traditional style and it had its on toilet and sink area. The guest house also has its own indoor and outdoor hot spring bath available for private use, which also added to the experience of being there. Would throughly recommend this guesthouse and would love to go back.

Such kind, attentive, welcoming hosts (including dog!) - unfortunately we were only booked for a one night stay, so could not enjoy longer, but loved our time staying in this traditional guest house. Very clean, with comfortable futon beds, and luxuriant hot spring baths, all on a friendly budget, and with good amenities nearby. Hosts, who have great English, helped with reserving a table at a local restaurant and generally making us feel very welcome. Arigato!

My friend and I chose to stay here for a couple of nights, but we kept adding on more nights because we weren’t ready to leave! The two private onsens are easy to reserve and they are perfect! The property is cozy and makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. There is plenty of nature around the property and many good bars and restaurants in waking distance. The owners are super helpful and are always available for questions or to add on more nights to your stay! I hope to make it back here again one day.

My friend and I planned to stay here for two days and then rent a few other places as we made our way around Hakone. However after looking at other “Similar” rentals we quickly realized that this place is unparalleled and chose to stay here for our whole vacation. Even on the weekend when the place was more full we were always able to get into the onsen when we wanted to. The host was completely accommodating to everything we needed and the public transportation in this region is so easy to use that we didn’t need to base ourselves in other locations to visit them. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

We received a friendly welcome to this small, well-established Japanese guest house. Spotlessly clean, attentive service. The owners are very knowledgeable about the beautiful area of Hakone, where there are many activities (sportive, cultural, natural, history etc.) for all ages. Small but relaxing sulphur onsens (exterior and interior) in the hotel. If you want to learn about Japanese manners and social etiquette you will have that experience here. At some point, the guest house will need updating but it is cosy in an old-fashioned way. Wi-fi available so no worries about the internet, it's more about the atmosphere. Good ofr individuals, couples or small groups. I think there are self-catering facilities in a part of the guest house.

A small very well run authentic Japanese inn. The hosts spoke good English and went out of their to help and provide advice on restaurants, buses and sight seeing. The highlights were the private onsens with mineral springs both indoor and outdoor. Rooms basic but clean with great forest views. Fantastic location short walk to the bus stops and local restaurants. We really enjoyed the true Japanese experience and the local hospitality.
