Visited with family. Rooms were quite nice and the Japanese style room is much more spacious than the western. Dinner in the room is quite nice, but only downside is that you need to wait for them to clear up before you can turn in for the night. Food quality was not bad, but not the best I've had. Onsen...

Hotel Okada is a traditional Japanese onsen ryokan. We received courteous, polite and helpful service from staff (even those who spoke little English). The onsen was wonderful, and a breathtaking new experience for us. It is testament to its quality that most of the patrons are Japanese, who appreciate the authenticity of the experience and the hotel's attention to detail....

Hotel Okada was one of hotels on our 18 day trip around Japan. We loved it and our experience. Though the staff spoke little English (that's why it's good to have google translate on your phone) they were wonderful. Our room was updated, very clean and new bathroom. We had a nice in-room onsen. However parts of the hotel were...

It's easy to get here from Hakone station, taking Bus A and only 100yen. Very welcoming arrival. The room was traditional Japanese and large, but had an odd smell..wasn't damp, wasn't cigarette smoke and remained a mystery. However was clean. The onsen was great, although a new experience for us. But research the protocols for onsens if you've not done...

Hotel is grossly overpriced given that is it old, smelly and needs serious refurbishment. The buffet is a complete ripoff: Below average canteen food and costs around 4000 per person. If you have to stay here bring your own food from the shops around Hakone station. On a positive note, the onsen was good.

This is a hotel with Japanese style rooms, called ryokan. It offers great hot springs baths and spa services. It also offers a beautiful breakfast buffet of both Japanese and Western foods. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are pleasant if you are already expecting traditional Japanese style rooms; e.g. sleeping on a futon on the floor and...

This was our first experience of Ryokan style accommodation on route to Takayama. Don't be decieved by the dark and drab hallways. The room was simple yet relaxing with a view over a crystal clear stream and a beautiful foresty mountain. Such a contrast from our previous few nights in Tokyo. Restaurant was buffet style with Japanese and European foods....

we stayed on the second floor and had a western style twin bed with nice balcony and our private onsen. Room was impeccable, clean and nice atmosphere. Staff have been very nice and polite. not a five stars review because of restaurant being so crowed, staff were too busy. Also the spa reservation close 2 hours before the spa actually...

The good aspect was the very spacious room, two twin beds plus facility to accommodate 3 or even 4 tatami mats in the living space - exceptional during our 3 weeks in Japan. However, the A/C was out of order, fortunately did not matter too much. We just about accepted the breakfast buffet (largely Japanese) quality, but the vast restaurant...

I would have give 5 points if the hotel would have new carpet and fresh paint. This is mainly due to cigarette smoke. I don't mind the 70-ties style; it's a style, but this strong cigarette smell was over powering in the corridors and also in our room. Hotel had designated areas for smoking. Although we did not see people...
