This hotel is a must for all who are looking for a quite, friendly, welcoming hotel that is off the beaten track. The quality of the accommodation, the food and the service was superb. We had a room with a private onsen on our balcony with some amazing views of the valley below and the passing trains of the Hakone...

We rented a car and drove 1.5 hours from Haneda airport to this ryokan in Hakone. It is quite far from the main street of Hakone area, it is in fact in the area of Miyanoshita. About 20 minutes drive after the main street near Hakone-Yumoto station. GPS or google map directed us to this ryokan with no problems. There...

My husband and I booked this ryokan for 1 night during our trip to Japan. The suite was very large and the private outdoor onsen was perfect. We had a corner balcony room and the view was beautiful. The suite was spacious and contained many amenities. Dinner was an absolute treat. Every dish was so well thought out. The soups...

Location wise this place is a bit hard to get to if your getting their by public transport. When you arrive, you will need to arrange for a pick up from the train station. The ryokan itself is quite new and we had a suite on the 3rd floor. It was quite and the room was large. It had the...

Spent a night in Hakone, which is not too far from main Tokyo area. The hotel premise is connected to another traditional ryokan and it's a bit tricky to find the place at first. The interior is very modern with designer sofa, LCD TVs and western shower and bath facilities. We were welcomed with a drink in the room overlooking...

This is one of my favorite hotels near Tokyo and I stayed several times. This hotel is hybrid of Japanese style Ryokan and modern Hotel which I like. 3 specialities are; 1. Private hot spring tub in Japanese style balcony which has great view of Hakone mountains for all rooms. 2. Great Japanese/French dinner at dinning room. 3. Private healthy...

The dinner was wonderful and the dining room ambience was fabulous. Wine was a bit French-centric - great wine but with a price. For a Japanese the disappointment was that for a large bath you have to go over to the next door ryokan, which makes it difficult to go there at night or very early mornings. For foreigners I...

Tokino Shizuku is one of the top Ryokans in Japan, nestled in a hillside near the village of Miyanoshita on the Hakone Tozan mountain railway. It's only got 8 rooms and is actually attached to another less amazing Ryokan/ Hotel, but once inside it's walls, you wouldn't know it. The rooms are very contemporary in design, mixing the best of...
