The room is small but clean and cozy, staff will get your bed ready while you are enjoying the fabulous Japanese dinner set. The hot spring facility could be booked for private use (45 minutes) during certain hours. The hot spring is great, featuring the unique pool made by Mt. Fuji volcano rock.

Very nicely maintained, traditional Japanese-style rooms made our stay (first night in Japan) really special. Hot baths and excellent Japanese breakfast topped the experience. The only problem was the communication with a very nice but not-speaking-English host and the fact that he constantly smoked cigarettes in the lobby.

A small, family run ryokan. The location is very nice if you want to get around Hakone area, only a few minutes to the next train or bus station. Very friendly staff - that doesn't speak nor understands english but somehow manages to be helpful nevertheless! Small onsen which functions as the bathroom, a small convience store is nearby. Downside:... More

We had a great time at this Ryokan. The staff are very polite and helpful. One guy there does speak English and everyone is very accommodating. We were traveling with an infant and they did provide everything we needed for the baby....a separate baby bath in the onsen, baby dinnerware, extra towels, and they didn't mind that we brought her... We spent two days in Umimoto in December to enjoy the region of Hakone and Onsen. Our tatami room was modest, comfortable and clean. Dinner, breakfast and private Onsen are included into the price of your stay. The menu is traditional and delicious filled with pricey ingredients. Stuff is very polite and considerate. Overall it feels like you spend some... More
