This was the highlight of our Tokyo trip! It was a peaceful and relaxing oasis away from the bustling city in Tokyo. There were 3 private onsen at a first come first serve basis and we were able to try 2 of them. There were also public hot-springs available which were separated by male/female. Complimentary snacks and beverages were available...

Despite many discussions about a vegetarian breakfast before and after our arrival I was still served copious amounts of dead fish and meat for breakfast. I understand if a meal is set. I would have been quite happy to have been told a clear no, it is not possible, before we arrived. I did not ask for any extras, just...

Big spacious room with outdoor bath. Everyday you can have free snacks in the room or around the hotel at different hours. They even prepared a basket with towels, plastic bags etc, some necessity items that you need when you go for your onsen. Great gesture! Hotel is up in the mountains so might not be so convenient if you...

We arrived at this place on short notice after a poor experience elsewhere. We didn't have much chance to consider and evaluate, but it all worked out well and I'm glad we stayed here - it saved the Hakone portion of our Japan holiday. It is a relatively modern (though with traditional touches) family-oriented onsen-themed hotel set in pleasant woodlands...

Don't have those Japanese style warm greeting and welcome drink while check in .A part from that everything is perfect but maybe the location is in the middle of a forest, cell phone receptions is really bad would have been nice if there's wifi for what I paid for.

We've been to Hakone several other times. We didn't know this when we booked the hotel, but we previously stayed at its sister hotel, the Hakone Setsugetsuka (which we also liked) couple years back. We chose this hotel because (like Setsugetsuka) it offered private onsen areas outside, and also came with a lot of extras like the complimentary refreshments. There...

Mizunoto was similar to a ryoken we stayed at last year (Setsugetsuka) but not as nice. The room was very good. The private onsen on the deck was also nice but looked a bit dated (the controls seemed out of place with the style of the tub.) The public/semi-private onsen were very nice as well as the common areas. For...

“We didn't see the new wing, but I would try to get a room on a higher floor that doesn't have the neighboring hotel in its view. When the trees are leafed out that is probably not an issue, and it wasn't one on the 5th floor ar the farthest end from the lobby, but it might be on lower floors or closer to the lobby end of the building. In that regard, the newer wing might be better, but we didn't see any of those rooms.”
